Abilify IS NOT APPROVED for any Dementia related issues, ESPECIALLY women who are 60+ years old, it increases risk of STROKE! My Mom also has A-FIB for God's sake! WHY IS THIS DRUG BEING USED IN OUR NURSING HOMES!? My God, at 78 years old why screw up someone's mind? I expressed this sentiment to the Director of Nursing at this 'facility', she said THE BENEFITS ARE WORTH THE RISK. Nurse Ratched indeed, one of many. It felt like I was not in control. I also began to hallucinate for the first and only time in my life and experienced unwanted racing thoughts. It became impossible to sleep and I developed REM sleep disorder. I couldn’t sit still and had to keep moving. I screamed uncontrollably and my mouth and tongue wouldn’t stop moving. All of my muscles spasmed and I had a pins and needles sensation all throughout. It all terrified me so much I quit cold turkey after taking it three weeks. The Restlessness was bothersome but it went away, still having insomnia, racing heart and anxiety.
