5  ADHD Dry mouth fatigue - faded after a few days Strattera + Wellbutrin has been the key to finally feeling like what I want normal to be. Not only is my ADHD much better (without feeling strung out from other stimulants) but my depression is just nonexistent. Granted I have done years of work on the issues that contribute to depression, but this combo really helps me feel like Im not even gingerly walking around a giant void that Im always this/close to jumping into. Now when I have setbacks, I have the ability to face and deal with them instead of retreating into myself. F 48 6 months

5  Adhd Mostly dry mouth and had some fatigue when I first started this dosage. This was a welcome change to my constant insomnia. My anxiety is a quarter of what is was before and I can finally focus. The biggest side effect I have had is I now have a very high sex drive. My husband is obviously not sad about this since it was the opposite before I started strattera. F 35 3 months

5  ADHD Nausea, sweating and headaches I actually take 25 mg in the morning and 18mg in the afternoon. This stuff quieted my mind. I am now in college and can stay focused on what I put my mind to. It does make me a little jittery and has increased my anxiety but the Dr. gave me Buspar to counteract that. The nausea and the sweating are the worse. I tried a lower dose and felt totally un motivated. F 58 2 months

5  Fatigue, ADD, narcolepsy Slightly decreased libido I had severe head injury in 2009: For me, the most prominent brain damage is that I hardly understand verbal langage (like orders); I had 1 MG Risperidone single-dose lobotomy in january 2011, as I could no longer control my adrenaline... When I finally remembered "why I accepted 1 MG Risperidone lobotomy", I managed to enter a readaptation program. Mainly, I did use Concerta-18MG and Modafinil-100MG for several years, but I slowly grew insatisfied with the side effects : Concerta was great for verbal comprehension, but I did not had hyperactivity in the first place so... (especially since the Risperidone single-dose lob...) Modafinil affected my speech and short-term memory too much (no more social life). In january 2016, I stopped medication and ENJOYED the first four seasons of Walking Dead: I finally realized Concerta and Modafinil were too zombiifing... (I did tried Vyvanse for 3 months in summer 2017 but it was the same issue than with Concerta) : The only good side effects of Vyvanse is that I managed to find out the real reason I got the Risperidone lobotomy in 2011 : I was mixed with an homonym alcooholic drug dealer... After I got my medical file corrected, I got back to school and seek for a real psychiatrist : I'm on my fourth day with 20 MG on the morning. It's the best drug I ever tried ; I feel myself for the first time in ten years! My memory is so much better! Is there a catch? Will I be a zombie if I stop the treatment in 2 year M 35 4 days

5  ADHD Please give this drug time! My side effects for the first few months were awful!! Insomnia, stomach pain, vomiting, memory blackouts, aggressive with alcohol but it did pass and despite these side effects I am so much more stable I no longer have mood swings or emotional outbursts, I am confident and assertive I have never felt more sure of my own opinions in my life. Stick with it it is difficult but it is worth it in the long run. F 28 9 months

5  ADD Nausea if I don't eat anything when I take it. Crash makes me super exhausted, but I think it's adrenal fatigue so I'm figuring out how to manage it. Way better than a stimulant. Stimulants make you feel like you're going crazy. The world is overwhelming. It's some bad shit. Adderall totally fucked me up. This stuff feels like how a coffee 'hits the spot' for those 15 minutes after you drink it, except it lasts all day. Be sure to work out to get the most out of it. M 22 5 months

5  ADHD Nausea is the #1 side effect for me and then, the strange dreams. The sleepiness is strong the first month. After, the sleepiness wouldn't go away, I switched the time I take it. I take it early evening around 6/7pm. I don't have sleepiness during the day. The nausea is for a little bit after I take it, then it fades. I used to have a voracious sex drive but now it's normal. I would eat a large steak dinner with all the trimmings and be hungry in 2hrs. But now, I eat normal and I don't think about eating all the time. I don't have the temper I used to have and I can plan normal and concentrate on one thing at a time as well as multi-task appropriately. I know this must sound like a commercial, but, I worked on one thing at a time. Strattera has a great behavior modification med for me. As the behaviors changed the anxiety reduced, the temper reduced, the concentration improved because I didn't have as much on my mind from the anxiety. I have gone off of it sometimes over the years...due to annoyance with the nausea or if I had to work nights for a short period. Couldn't do that long term because the lack of concentration. But overall, It has worked for me. It will not fix it all at once and be careful mixing it with other ADD/ADHD meds and especially anti-depressants. Remember, this med REGULATES. It will demand normal sleep patterns and eating patterns. Also, exercise helps with energy. Energy makes energy. Whatever exercise your doctor approves...walking or something makes this med seem like a wonder drug. F 45 12 years

5  ADHD/ADD The most insane INITIAL side effects I've ever had starting a medication. Dizziness and nausea mostly. The first two days were the worst, it felt like I was drunk. After 1 week everything was fine and normal. Regular side effects: decrease appetite, increase focus, decreased sex drive I was fed up with Adderall after 7+ years on it and I wanted to switch to a non-stimulate ADHD medication F 22 1 years

5  ADHD A small amount of nausea, first two days on Straterra I was sleepy. The longer I was on it, the more increased energy. Strange dreams. I love straterra. I am able to focus, stay on task and can pay attention. It seems the longer I've been on it, the better. After a while the side effects subside. It also calms my nervous twitches. I feel that this is a steady, level fix. (Adderall was a spur of the moment fix with agitation side effects) I am completely happy with this medication. F 37 3 months

5  Adult ADHD-PI At 40mg: Nausea, headache, insomnia. At 80mg: Vomiting, nausea, headache, fatigue, urinary hesitation, abnormal dreams. All resolved in 3 weeks at 80mg. It's a shame to see comments from other patients that say they're giving up on Strattera after one or two weeks. I had a VERY rough time at first, but was determined to stick with it and I'm extremely happy with the results. Initially the nausea was so bad I had to sit still and close my eyes to keep from vomiting. For a few days it was hard to urinate. The fatigue was so strong at one point I basically spent three days in bed. After two weeks at 80 mg, I felt like crap, and my symptoms hadn't improved. But I knew that I had to stay on it for longer to see how it would affect me long term. Oh boy, am I glad that I did! Before Strattera, I would find it near impossible to start a task. Once I did start, I'd easily become distracted by my own thoughts. I had problems with losing focus, even if people were speaking to me directly. Life on Strattera is better. I don't 'feel' it working - now that the side effects are gone, I don't 'feel' anything when I take it. But I know it's working because it's helping my symptoms. I can now focus for about the same length of time as someone without ADHD. I no longer have entire days lost to procrastination. Of course sometimes, I still procrastinate. I can still lose focus during a conversation if I'm not careful. But now it feels like most of my symptoms can be overcome most of the time with enough willpower. That was impossible before. Don't let initial side effects put you off! M 27 8 weeks

5  Non-stimulant ADHD medication Dry mouth, occasional night sweats, occasional slight anxiety but nothing unmanageable I love Strattera. I've been on it three different times (going on and off of it for various reasons) and each time it really doesn't start working for about a month or a month and a half, so you really have to give it time to build up in your system. It's very different from a stimulant in that way. The reason I started Strattera the first time was after failed use of Vyvanse and Ritalin. They made me jittery and extremely anxious (I had previously been diagnosed with anxiety, so it makes sense that a stimulant would make my anxiety worse.) I also found that at the end of the day, I could not focus anymore. It was as if I had never taken it. This was really upsetting to me because, being a college student, I needed to be focused all of the time and that just wasn't happening. Strattera has been my miracle drug. Nothing else has helped me like this has. I honestly would have dropped out of college if it weren't for Strattera. I can't say enough good things about it. I would definitely recommend taking a chance with Strattera. Give it time and it will change your life. F 19 2 months

5  ADHD, Uncontrolable Rage Enhanced sexual pleasure, light insomnia, decreased appetite It's not a stimulant but it sure feels like one, I feel like I'm taking a low dose of Concerta but not overwhelming like Concerta was. It doesn't feel like the med is forcing me to focus, no catatonic zombie state of mind. Can actually get work done now, don't interrupt others while talking, actually remembering my to-do lists and where I left an object sitting. Overall, great med and my heart doesn't feel like it's gonna explode like the stimulants make me feel. Only bad thing, I wake up from sleep like every half hour wiggling around, my brain doesn't wanna cut off. Decreased appetite, great thing!!! And when I experience sexual pleasure it's stronger than usual, am having multiple orgasms from even a small amount of stimulation, but not a bad thing ;) F 29 10 days

5  ADD inattentive type and anxiety Dry mouth I have taken concerta, adderall and other ADD meds in the past. Recently I was taking vyvanse (which was wonderful, but my insurance stopped covering it), then I was put on dextrostat and it was awful! It made me extremely depressed and only made me focused on certain things. Today is my first day on strattera and so far I am really liking it. I'm very focused, but not a nervous ball of energy. I also feel happier and calmer. I will have to check back later on to see how well it works over time, but so far it's great. F 33 1 days

5  ADD - Primarily Inattentive Minimal side effects when dose increased during titration (headache, insomnia). Reduced appetite/thirst which makes me a bit dehydrated sometimes. Feeling great, otherwise! This stuff has worked wonders for me. Seriously, life-changing. I don't feel so lost/confused/anxious/worried all the time. When something needs to be done, holy crap, I ACTUALLY DO IT! I'm not as distracted by stimulation (sights, sounds, smells, etc). I can do tasks in sequential order. My mind is not being controlled by a freaking monkey anymore. I can't believe how well this works for my Inattentive-type ADD. The best part is I don't feel like anything about me has changed - my personality is exactly the same, except that I am productive and can listen to conversations without zoning out after 2 seconds. I am less impulsive too; my brain is not constantly interrupting my life anymore. I am surprised to read all of the crazy side effects as I really don't have any of them, except for vivid dreams and I feel weird if I take it in the morning without eating. I can literally feel it start to kick in about 45 minutes after I take it, and it usually starts wearing off around 8pm. It's supposed to be 24-hour coverage, I think it sticks around in your system but I can definitely feel it when it is wearing off. F 33 25 days
