Over the course of last year, my headaches got steadily worse. By the beginning of this year, I was on 4 migraine medications, and nothing was helping. Then my doctor took me off Crestor because my liver enzymes were off. She started me on Zetia instead. Within a few weeks of being of Crestor, I started falling asleep in the evenings before I had even taken my Trazodone. Then I noticed my headaches were less frequent and I was in a better mood throughout the day. I was eventually able to stop taking 6 medications — my antidepressant, my sleeping medication, and 4 migraine medications — because almost everything I was taking a medication for was a side-effect of Crestor. I had been on so many medications, and I still felt awful all the time because of Crestor. I spent thousands of dollars in therapy trying to figure out what was wrong with me and why I was so depressed. My relationship with my husband was stressful, because I had absolutely no sex drive. Crestor cost me dearly for the past decade — financially, emotionally, physically. I was prescribed Crestor and it worked well for 5 or more years @20mg/day. Then suddenly I started experiencing right side hip pain which slowly increased until I could not walk properly and it took large doses of paracetamol and about 2 hours out of bed each day before I could walk without discomfort. Hip X Rays showed a clear buildup of some material(unsure exactly what it was) on my hip. My doctor said I would need a hip replacement! I started doing my own study. I found some remarks about Crestor on an airline pilot's website. Comments suggested Crestor as being the cause of this unbearable pain. I decided to stop Crestor altogether for about a month and found that my hip pain was eliminated, but that my resting heart rate was going up and I could feel what I would describe as "angina". I started taking full dosage until I could feel the hip pain returning, and then modified my dosage so that I was having a total of about 4 full tablets per week. My angina went away, my blood tests were OK and about 3 years after beginning experimenting have settled on 6 full tablets per week with blood tests quite OK and at a level my NEW doctor is happy with. It is about "3.2" overall. I have not had any more X Rays. I have not needed them - or a hip replacement! They actually poison people with this drug. I am in disbelief. The heck with high cholesterol, what a racket. I stopped. No more. I am fit 64 year old female, low bmi of 17, no smoking, little alcohol, and organic low fat diet. I hope this is not permanent damage. I have been off this poison for 2 weeks but still suffering.
