After just a week of being off the NuvaRing I feel like I have more energy, I'm happier, and all my other symptoms have pretty much gone away. But the NuvaRing did help my periods be lighter and last less time so that was a good thing. When the side effects did hit in April of this year, they hit me like a freight train. I have never in my life experienced such a traumatic, life altering experience that left me basically unable to function. The crippling and irrational panic attacks were one thing, but the depersonalization and suicidal thoughts terrified me. My poor boyfriend was putting up with an absolute basket case. I started therapy, my therapist swore there was nothing wrong with me as far as anxiety or depression disorders go. It wasn't until my mother suggested it was my NuvaRing that everything clicked. Admittedly, I thought there was no way, since I had gone all this time with no symptoms, but after reading reviews on this site, I see it's very common. I stopped using the ring 2 weeks ago and feel mostly normal, though I still have random anxious episodes. I didn't want the IUD or the Nexplanon and didn't have a good reaction to BC pills. The first day of using NR I immediately had cramping and felt exhausted. I know with BC and especially having a baby your body can react differently. Well unfortunately for me after the second day I began to have a burning sensation in my vangina acommpanied by itching. I was so frustrated because I asked my midwife if that was a side affect or even a possibility and she said absolutely not. I then proceeded to remove NR way earlier than the 3 weeks and now I am dealing with the consequences. Cramping large amount of blood and absolutely no desire to do anything. My body is heavy and I have constant diarrhea. The NR has completely flipped my world up side down. I gained a whopping 20 lbs when all my life it had been hard for me to gain a single lb. I have always been active and working out regularly, but none of it was showing. No matter what I did, I kept packing on the weight. I kept a continuous layer of “bloat” around my midsection. I was tired all the time. It was causing a strain between my husband and I. I was all over the place. I was going nuts!
