| 3 | Birth Control and period Regulation | I took Yasmin for the last 6 years and never noticed any side effects. after reading the postings I realized that people are 100% correct about the lack of a sex drive. I thought it was just me and couldnt explain it. My period was regular as can be, some mild weight gain which I assumed was normal, but period was still lasting 7 days a week. I just stopped taking it about a week and a half ago with hopes of getting pregnant soon. Anyone have any experience with getting pregnant after Yasmin??? | F | 32 | 6 years | 10/7/2008 | 3 | Endometriosis | EXTREME nausea | When I was first diagnosed with endo, I was taking yasmin. I had horrible lower right pelvic pain, nausea, vomitting, drstic weight loss... They put me on Lupron for 9 months, and back on Yasmin 3 weeks ago. My pain is back, but I think its because of my endo. However, I wake up in the morning so extremely nauseas. Its like that for the mjority of the day. I dont know if its because I haven't had any hormones in my system for 9 months, the pill, my endo, or a combitnation of it all. I didn't seem to notice this to be a problem in the past couple of years but for the life of me I can't just shed a few pounds. I have also noticed how I just cry for no reason about a week before my period is to come. I wouldn't be complaining about this b/c I understand it comes with "that time of the month" but I have never experienced this before. I will cry at a leaf falling to the ground...it is bad. Great for hormonal acne on the face. Great for regulating mood swings, cramps, etc. | It took me a while to figure out, but I'm quite sure Yasmin made me start developing--and fast, at that--cellulite. I was appalled at what was happening to my thighs, having never been overweight or anything. I stopped Yasmin after hearing some other people wonder if there was a link between the two. My cellulite has not only stopped progressing in the 2 weeks I'm off Yasmin, but it has absolutely reduced. Like, by about half. (I also ramped up my exercise and healthy-eating a bit, but not that much.) What I think: Yasmin is great for face skin: awful for the thighs. But the pill did a great job of regulating my period and got rid of the severe stomach pain associated with it. I just can't handle the stomach problems much longer. All my life I have had extremely THICK hair but being on Yasmin has change my life. My hair started coming out in huge amounts. My doctor said it could have been stress that was making my hair fall out. But I started tracing back to when I started to notice my hair loss. And I realize that it was the same time I started taking Yasmin. But I took Yamin for three years and now I have VERY thin hair. I was getting very worried. My period due date never lets me down. I suffered with pulpatations prior to taking the pill due to stress, and even though its not a major problem now for me, it does still occasionally happen. Have experienced most of the side effects mentionned by most at one point or another, in a minor form, occasional headaches but not sure if that can be linked to the pill, but my sex drive has never suffered, if anything it is higher! I get breast tenderness and water retention around my period but that disappears completley after my period begins. To be fair, I never got pregnant, so it was effective! | I have been taking various birth control pills since I first got my period 10 years ago. I started taking Yasmin after my doctor told me I shouldn't take Diane anymore in case of blood clots. At first, there was no difference in mood or anything. But after about 6 months, I became more emotional. It has been over a year now, and have decided to stop taking birth control pills all together. I didn't even really notice the change in me, but according to those around me, it's been pretty major. I feel good about my choice because even though the pill is important, I think it's a healthy choice to stop taking it after so long. While the pill is important in preventing pregnancy, I encourage anyone who is thinking about starting to understand what it does to your body, and that it is a relatively new drug, and long term effects to the female body is not known, no matter what their websites tell you. However, after about four months of taking yasmin i started experiencing several health problems like acid reflux, chest pains ( i thought i was having a heart attack, i ended up in the hospital where they found nothing wrong with me) and recently i started having severe headaches and these spells where i thought i was going to pass out. it was terrible. Of course therte were the bouts of depression and the crying for no reason. I didn't think to link my symptoms to takin the pill until i happened upon this site and realised that other people were having the same symptoms that i did. | I am coming off this pill asap to see if my symptoms dissipate. I realized I wasted a year taking this pill and withdrew from all the things I love to do (the things that make me who I am)because of how I was feeling. Yes, it kept me calm, but whenever I tried to do anything I felt anxious & then I'd be exhausted afterwards like an adrenaline crash. I became very concerned about the diuretic in YAZ as I am also small frame thin person. When I researched drosperenone I found many women complaining of the same debilitating affects of this pill & its diuretic. The beginning was the best, I had a about a 10-15 lb weight loss. Then the depression started along with the fatigue and anxiety, and I have now gained the weight back.
