It is seemingly harder to think clearly. However, my face is clear, my hair is fine. I didn't gain weight from it and the emotions aren't as bad when you get passed the first three months. I have been on various other birth control pill for extended periods of time as well. So far I have liked Yasmin the best. I do relate to alot of the complaints about anxiety and stuff but to be honest I dont know if I have felt any worse with Yasmin than any other birth control or no birth control. I just figured I had anxiety. Maybe it has something to do with this pill, but I suspect it has little to do with it. I personally love being on this pill because I dont have all the long drawn out PMS symptoms. I dont get period headaches until I have been off of it for a few days. I do have shortness of breath and lately have been wondering if I am having problems with my heart, but again I have had shortness of breath since I started taking birth control pills 14 years ago, so I dont think it is the Yasmin. My skin is clearer on birth control, but I have oily skin. So I guess if you have dry skin to begin with it may get dryer. After the initial side effects from the first month cleared, I liked yasmin. It cleared up my acne for the most part. My periods lasted 1-3 days and I never got pregnant. I originally started started the pill to regulate periods and I was regular from the first month on. The only negative to Yasmin is that it is kind of expensive and there is no generic available. I just recently got switched to a generic of loestin 1.5/30, which my doctor recommended. I lost the 40 lbs in 3 months, my mood was much better, my periods lighter, my vision fine, no nausea or cramps at all and my period last 2-3 days. Overall i recommend this pill to those who are athletic b/c you need to diet and exercise to gain the benefits. However, its effects are not immediate (at least for me it wasnt). It took about 3-4 months before Yaz started working for me. I've been on it for 6 months now and it has completely cleared up my acne and I have no other problems with the pill now. However the first 3 months on Yaz were HELL! my acne got worst before it got better. I broke out more and broke out in places i've never broken out in before I started taking Yaz. Other side effects I initially experienced were breast enlargement, food cravings, weight gain (10lbs), lots of fatigue, mood swings, and loss of sex drive. I only stayed on Yaz because my GYN told me to give my body time to get use to it. and she was right by the 4th month my acne was gone and the other side effects were gone also. | Yaz is great at clearing face and body (chest and back) acne. But it took at least 3-4 months for it to clear up my acne and for the side effects to subside. If you are willing to live through the initial side effects this stuff really does work wonders as far as acne is concerned but if you still don't see any improvement by the 3rd/4th month you should definitely quit taking it and get your doctor to prescribe something better. | F | 25 | 6 months | 11/11/2006 | 4 | Birth Control | Anxiety, Headaches, Mood swings, Clearer Skin, No weight gain but severe carb cravings! | I started taking Yasmin a little over a year ago after being on Depo-Provera for 2 years. Yasmin is the first and only birth control pill I have ever taken so I don't have much to compare it to, but the anxiety seems a little odd. Being on Depo-Provera was like a dream come true, no period, no mood swings, no weight gain, but I did develope an allergy to it during the 2nd year of taking it, and also found out that it caused pretty severe boen density loss. My OBGYN then recommended that I take Yasmin as she thought it would be best for me. Also, my skin is horribly dry and I'm constantly needing water, but my thirst is never quenched. This is the first time I've ever used BC, always used condoms before. I now have confirmed why I always refused to take it in the past. After this month, I'm not taking any BC again and will try other methods. The first two months were a bit trying. I had started a short-term course of antibiotics around the same time, and I felt as though I had to battle a yeast infection (first ever) for an entire month. By month 2.5, however, I felt healthier than ever. I've actually lost weight since I started (125 lbs to 118lbs), but my belly area isn't as tone as it used to be(barely noticeable). Also, my breast size increased slightly (still same cup size), which I didn't mind at all. Also during the first month, my libido increased to almost frustrating levels. :) At month four, however, the lingering side-effects are a loss of concentration (I have ADHD and had to increase my ADHD medication), sleepiness/tireness (I feel like I need an hour or two more of sleep now... and yet, I still feel slightly dazed), and a slight *decrease* in sex-drive (although it's still a bit higher than my significant other's).
