4  birth control severe headache on first day of period, slight weight gain, periodic anxiety, very low sex drive I've been on Yasmin for almost 7 years, with a brief 2-yr hiatus when trying to conceive then giving birth. Before my pregnancy, Yasmin was great -- helped with my moodiness, decreased the flow and duration of my periods, stopped cramping. However, in the 2 years I've been taking Yasmin after my pregnancy, I've noticed significant side effects (listed at left). I've talked about it with my doc, who says it could be due to new hormone levels in my body. I have not gone off this pill yet because the positives out-weigh the negatives, but I plan to stop taking it in a couple months so we can try to conceive baby #2. F 31 7 years

4  PCOS/no regular period Slightly more emotional all the time, especially around that time of the month. Didn't gain any weight, boobs grew half a cup size, periods were way lighter and now last 3 or 4 days...worked great for me! Never had any major problems. F 19 2 years

4  Endometriosis -active pill Loss of sex drive (returned to a more 'normal' level) I took Yasmin "active pills" (I always took an active dose and never took the 7 day placebo pills) I did not have a period which was the goal for me. I did very well on Yasmin - though I did gain weight (about 10-15 lbs over 7 months) I did feel like I was never quite full. Before Yasmin my libdo was out of control right before my periods and I suffered horrible pmdd, yasmine helped with this. I did not realize how "regulated" my mood had become until I quit taking this pill (to get pregnant) within the first three weeks of not taking yasmin my pmdd (screaming, yelling, angry for no reason) was back - it made me realize how much it had helped me.  4  Birth Control I'm just about finished with my second pack...so far the side effects seem to be in the first 2 weeks or so. I was a little moody and felt a little naseous. I feel great on it now...though a bit tired most of the day. I feel more bloated than normal, but it could just be the way I'm eating lately. My skin's clear, my boobs are a little bit bigger too! I'm going to keep on it for a while and see how it goes. F 35 2 days

4  Acne I felt ill the first month, but it's gone away since then. I get moody sometimes, but before my period I was always moody any way. My skin looks GREAT! I love love love Yasmin. F 25 3 months

4  Birth control / side effects haven't started yet but will be in 2 weeks I haven't actually started this pill yet and at first when i read many comments on this board I was scared. However there's also a TON of "5" comments that state this is the BEST pill for them. I'm starting on yasmin next month (had to finish out my last pills/pack for the month) and I'm extremely excited. Currently I've been on Kariva (generic of mircette) and while on that one, i gained over 30 pounds back after a 60 pound loss (wasn't on bc when i lost the weight) and i went on and after having NOT changed my new lifestyle/eating/diet I gained 30 pounds. Plus I realized how incredibly exhausted and moody I became on this other pill. From what I see with Yasmin I'm extermely excited to see if it will help almost 'reverse' the side effects I had on this other pill. The one thing with this board is - as others have said - it's all about what works for YOUR body with YOUR metabolism. it's so easy to read just the bad reviews and want to run for the hills.  4  Acne Cramps came back after a few months I was on Yasmin in the past and really had no problems with it. I switched because after taking it for a while, I started to get cramps again. I thought that maybe my body just adjusted to it or something. I switched to Yaz and never had any cramps. I also had shorter periods. They only lasted like 2-3 days! However, I've been on Yaz for almost 2 years now. Within that time, I've developed many problems, many emotional. Doctor now thinks I'm depressed and need medicine for that. After reading about different birth controls, I realized that my craziness is being caused by Yaz. I also had dizzy spells that really scared me. I'm switching back to Yasmin and see if I have better luck. F 22

4  Birth Control slight nausea but other than that clearer skin, and fewer cramps. The first few days of my cycle are heavier but my perios only lasts for four days. Migranes which may or may not have anything to do with the pills. I haven't had any truly bad experiences...yet...some people say that it takes years to show up sometimes. My flat mate got pregnant on it though so I am extra careful. F 20 2 years

4  Birth Control and Acne Loss of libido. But skin cleared up immediately. If you want to look good and not have sex, this is great. If you want to have sex but no one wants to look at your bad skin, and therefore you won't have sex anyway, then you don't have to take it. F 48 2 years

4  Birth Control Slight weight gain, migraines Overall satisfied with this pill. Don't listen to the other comments on here. Every person is going to react differently to medications. I am satisfied and would recommend to EVERYONE. I haven't experienced many side effects at all. I had migraines before I took this medication and they slightly increased but were still bareable.  4  birth control weight loss, acne, fatigue, dizziness, nausea, loss of appetite I was on OTC for a year and it made me fat and killed my sex drive, so I'm trying yasmin because I have friends who are on it and they love it. I hear you have to give it 3 months for the side effects to go away, so that's what I'm doing. But the weight loss is a good side effect! F 26 2 months

4  YAZ: Birth control Stomach sickness the first 2 weeks, lost 10 pounds, larger breasts, anxiety, depression (but that's normal for me), increased sex drive I see all of your comments about yasmin and I think you should try YAZ. Yaz has worked for me besides taking some getting used to. I now have adjusted. It has made me loose weight and has increased my sex drive which I am happy about. I was a little bit moody when first taking it but now my body and mind has adjusted. Great pill & not too intense! Try it! F 18 4 months

4  Birth Control I am about to start taking it after a year on Alesse (hated, nothing major, just disliked I guess) and 7 years on Depo (loved it, but quit for bone loss risk, may get bone scan and go back on it). After reading some of these comments, I just had to post even though I have yet to start taking Yasmin. I would like some of these people to try a placebo and see if they have so many crazy "symptoms". I do believe all medications come with some side effects, everything in life has a side effect, a reaction if you will. It has been my experience that a lot of people taking a medication attribute every change in their life to the medication. There have been so many studies about people who think they are taking a med and are actually taking a placebo and come up with a wack of "side effects". These people with the placebo effect really make me wonder. Anyways, in general hormones will have some effect on ones libido and mood. Expect some changes. Weigh the good with the bad and don't be a freak about it. F 24 0 days

4  birth control i'm taking yasmin for 2 months now, and this seems to be a happy pill for me. my boyfriend of 12 years sees quite an improvement in my humour. in comparison to the others that i've tried over the years, this has me in such a happy positive mood. i don't get headaches/migraines or leg cramps like i used to with other pills, my acne seems to be clearing, and i'm slowly loosing weight. my libido is low, but it's been like that since i switched from the coil to the pill years ago - nothing seems to make a difference, not even when i stopped all contraception for a year and a half.  4  Birth Control A little emotional, Vision. I've taken quite a few different birth controls, I always have some side effects. With Yasmin I've had a few. I had switched to another, and I'm going back to Yasmin. It cleared up my acne totally. I've just been a little more emotional than normal, but not bad. Light periods. F 28 2 years

4  PMDD (severe PMS) YAZ (not yasmin) - Constant: increased appetite & weight gain (ferocious, uncontrollable - will go into a panic if I couldn't eat and nothing makes it go away, so I would keep eating trying to find the thing that would satisfy the craving); diminished sex drive (only desire sex once every three months); Occasionally: electrolyte imbalance (dizziness, intermittent palpitations) only once or twice a month Yaz has worked so well for me, that the side effects are worth the price. I have begun using exercise to curb my appetite and I am using an Exchange Diet Menu to lose the extra pounds. I am also taking Welbutrin in addition to the yaz for anxiety that has not completely subsided with the use of Yaz, and it should have the added benefit of appetite control as well - we'll see!!!  4  anemia , period, bc none at first. after 4 months: facial hair growth, breast growth and tenderness, vagial dryness and loss of sex drive. Extreme tiredness, but I had that when I was on Marvlon and try-cyclen too. I notice a lot of complants about this drug. Overall I find it generally effective. I no longer experience long periods or my heavy bleeding, which helps a lot with my anemia. I never got sick of these pills like the others, but did notice breast tenderness after one week. When I first started taking bc, I noticed that 10 hours of sleep wasn't enough for me anymore and unfortunately it is still occuring with yaz. Even with these side effects I will still continue to use, unless they become really bad. It was hard for me to find something that works. For those of you who have problems with yaz, others have the same problems with other bc, it just takes time to find the right one for you. F 20 4 months
