4  Birth Control No side effects yet I've been taking this pill for a few months and so far I haven't had any side effects -- however, there is one problem... it costs me $60 at the pharmacy. Does anyone know how I could get it cheaper? Thank you :) F 24 4 months

4  Contraception Very dehydrating, terrible period first month My doctor gave me a five month sample to try Yasmin. After the first month, I was ready to quit. I had horrible cramping, clotting and PMS at my first period. I had to leave work, cause it was so bad. I decided to stick it out because my skin was definitely clearing up. After the first month, I've had no problems, except I find it really dries your skin, mouth etc. I've had to force myself to drink lots of extra water. My moodiness and skin issues are totally cleared up on this pill. My biggest criticism is the packaging. I don't start on a Sunday, and I find it kind of awkward to keep the days right. F 34 5 months

4  Birth Control/Acne During the first month or so, I experienced minor nausea and dizziness. My eyesight has seemed to have worsened, if that's related, and during the first two months, I became very moody and started fighting with my boyfriend a lot more. My breasts have grown, though, and I haven't gained any extra weight, which is kind of weird, but I'll take what I can get. My acne worsened during the first two months, but seems to be moderate, now, and even a little better. F 18 3 months

4  birth control nausea for the first 3 days/maybe some headaches and larger breasts (an absolute positive!) I have been on BC for 11 years now. I was on Kariva and it was great until the last year when it made me sick all the time, depressed and more. I took some time off of any BC and after about 6 months wanted to try something new. I read this site and it scared the crap out of me!! I have now been on this pill for 4 months and my mind isn't foggy like it was with the other BC and I've been given some great compliments on my new larger breasts. I have had some pretty intense migraines, but I've always suffered from them, they were pretty intense for a while but have subsided recently. There was a loss of sleep and some nausea for the first 3 days, but that was it. I understand that this pill hasn't worked for everyone, but be careful of what you say. Everyone reacts differently to medications and I'm one of those people that have bad side effects to most drugs, but this one has been great and I have no complaints. The only reason this didn't get a rating of 5 is because I never g F 32 4 months

4  birth control Initially headaches for about 4 days after starting my first pack then they went away. I actually lost my appetite after going on yasmin and I go to the bathroom more. I was on orthocyclen before and maybe that one just made me hungry all the time. Haven't noticed any moodswings, maybe a bit nervousness when I started, but that could be attributed to something else. Seems to work fine so far. Could help to lose weight as an appetite suppressant and a diuretic. Everyones body is different and everyones ailments should not be specifically associated to this pill. F 30 1 weeks

4  Contraceptive possible weight gain, but I have been eating more pasta... I went on yasmin as recommended by the head of gynecology at a well-respected hospital in my home town. I take it continually - taking a week off the pills only every few months or, in other words, four periods a year. For the first 23 years of my life I'd suffered from a constant, large, disfiguring patch of eczema on my leg that kept me from wearing shorts or skirts and caused strangers to make comments about it to me in public. After three weeks of being on yasmin, the eczema was completely gone and my skin was healed entirely. You can't even see a scar! I've found that by avoiding monthly periods my emotional status is much more stable. I've gained about 15 pounds, but then again, I'm at the age where metabolism slows anyway and I've recently become vegetarian meaning a lot more pasta and fried food. So take that as you will. When I do have my period, I've found the cramps are a bit more intense, but not entirely debilitating. Other PMS symptoms have shown no change, t F 25 3 years

4  BIRTH CONTROL TIRED...THAT'S IT! JUST DEPENDS ON WHAT YOUR PARTICULAR MAKE UP IS. I HAVE ENDROMETRIOSIS AND HAVE BEEN ON EVERYTHING YOU CAN IMAGINE WHAT ARE YOU COMPLAINING ABOUT? EVERYTHING THAT IS HAPPENING TO YOU CAN HAPPEN ON ANY BIRTH CONTORL YOU TAKE SO WHY DON'T YOU CHILL OUT AND STOP SCARING THE REST OF US THAT IT MIGHT ACTUALLY WORK FOR. I HAVE BEEN ON THEM ALL AND EVERY SINGLE ONE DOES SOMETHING, YOUR ON SYNTHETIC HORMONES SO GET REAL IT'S NOT GOING TO FEEL NORMAL. THEY CAN ALL KILL YOU OR HELP YOU...JUST DEPENDS ON WHAT YOUR PARTICULAR MAKE UP IS. I HAVE ENDROMETROSIS AND HAVE BEEN ON EVERYTHING YOU CAN IMAGINE AND SO FAR SO GOOD SO GIVE IT A REST AND GET OVER YOURSELVES. IF YOU DON'T WANT TO GET PREGNANT AND NOT FEEL WEIRD DOING SO... GO OFF YOUR CONTRACEPTION AND DON'T HAVE SEX!!!! F 35 2 days

4  Period relief No side affects really. In the last month I have had increased appetite, but not sure if it has anything to do with the pill. I have had shorter periods, lighter flow and my skin is great! It is really important to research birth control before you choose one. Don't just take whatever the doctor hands you. Every birth control is different. And your personal medical history plays a large role in how your body will respond. F 25 3 months

4  irregular periods Nausea and insomnia for the first few months; weight gain of 6 pounds (I am petite and am small-boned, so this was a significant and disappointing increase); tender breasts and swelling two weeks a month. Yaz: Obvious benefits: regular, light periods; decreased cramps and PMS; clear, luminous skin; after a few months of adjusting, no side effects other than breast tenderness/swelling and weight gain (cellulite--not just heavier), which has been next to impossible to reduce. I am an active, petite vegetarian and have never had to worry about weight, even post-childbirth, but Yaz and Yasmin made me pile on the pounds and fat and I can't lose weight no matter what I do. It's a real dilemma: return to irregular periods and (probably) lose the weight, or stay fat and regular? F 39 2 years

4  contraceptive At the beginning i experienced bad stomack pains and diareah, but this went away. It was great for 7 months, then I started feeling chest pains, palpitations, dizziness. Great pill until after 7 months...palpitations, chest pains, anxiety, nauseaus too. F 25 9 months

4  Acne, Birth control This was the ONLY medicine out of 12 that I had previously tried that actually cleared up my acne. Helps a great deal with PMS, Cramps. I also have shorter lighter periods. Good for prevented pregnancy thus far. HOWEVER, I am almost constantly nasueated, and am suffering from extreme fatigue. Been to several specialist who have confirmed its the birth control. I'll continue to stay on it until I find a better pill. F 19 7 months

4  birth control Not many... overall happy I've been taking Yasmin for about 6 years. I just decided to switch because my doctor thinks that the bad headaches I get could stem from the lack of estrogen on days 21-28. After reading this, there are some other things I experience that could be a result of Yasmin. No Sex Drive... I thought it was just me and it frustrates my husband, but I've been on Yasmin so long that chances are that it's not me and probably the pill. Wish I would have found this site earlier!! :) Overall I would recommend Yasmin. F 27 6 years

4  Birth control water retention, painful breasts, nausea for first month taking yasmin Nausea in the first month or so was a little difficult, but went away. The only recurring issue I have is with my breasts, they're HUGE. I'm very petite and a 32D now. I find that period pain is decreased on this pill, and I gained less weight than with others. water retention is still an issue though. F 24 4 years

4  Prevent pregnancy Sleepiness within the first couple of weeks. Other than that, nothing. Major weight loss, when I didn't need to lose weight. (I weigh 100 lbs now after I weighed 118 before I started it) I love this pill. Granted, it's not for everyone, but one you get used to it, I think it's great. I have shorter, lighter periods, and my mood swings aren't bad at all. I do take Prozac too to help with my PPD but I still this birth control. F 22 4 months

4  reduce heavy painful periods only! Cons: weight gain, fatigue, spotting, irregular periods Pros: PMS improved, skin looked fabulous & most importantly, shorter, lighter periods I am switching to Yasmine now due to breakthrough bleeding. I also am having more clotting during periods than normal. FYI: You people who have been on this pill 2 months or less should not be so judgemental! Surely your body has not had time to adjust this soon. Ask your doctor or pharmacist about how this drug works. Your body is NOT regulated that quickly! We are all different. This pill may be great for some and bad for others. Also, all you tend to hear on these type of sites is the bad, not the positives. Best of luck! F 35 8 months

4  Birth control Slight increase in brest size, weight gain (2-3kg), slight decrease in sex drive, skin improved I switched from a lower dosed birth control (comparable to YAZ) to Yasmin. I have experienced a few side effects but am still happy with Yasmin. I tried OTC for three weeks and experienced horrible side effects. Once I got on Yasmin I felt a lot better. F 23 3 months

4  ovarian cysts and birth control Right now I am taking Yasmin with Prozak 20 mg, and I am fine, without Prozak I had anxiety, moodness, crying without any reason. I have been on Yasmin 5 years now, and I am not going to change it. I did not gain any weight. Breasts size is beager now, which is OK for me because I had 34A, now is 36C just perfect. If you have mood changes all the time try Prozak. The only side effect is high blood pressure. F 34 5 years

4  Birth Control So far, nothing. I started taking Yasmin as a new form of birth control because my previous one appeared to be high in hormones and I could not handle it. I think it was called Ovcon. I would totally flip out at work, cause trouble on purpose, back talk, start fights, be moody, etc. Yasmin has not done anything yet. I should start my period in another week and we will see how it goes. Don't knock off Yasmin just yet......Some people have no effect. F 23 1 months

4  birth control No sex drive, slight decrease in intense emotion.. almost less sensation of reality, I have been actually happier, more content, talkative, and need less sleep. I rarely feel tired like I did a lot before I started taing it, but often have a hard time falling asleep I am a little partial of the effects of this birth control. After reading all of the reviews I am scared if worse is to come. Generally I feel actually better overall since I have been taking yasmin. I feel more energetic, easygoing, talkative, and very seldom feel tired.. which has made falling asleep harder. I feel like I am mentally more here, and am doing better at studying and concentrating than before. Almost a bit surrealish.. I don't feel intense emotion --especially sex drive.. none whatsoever. Which is good for me right now because I am studying abroad and have no boyfriend, and don't plan on meeting anyone at the moment. But when I am with someone, I really think I will need to switch or I feel I will have no pupose being on the pill in the first place... F 19 15 days
