| 1 | Birth Control plain and simple | I was recently diagnosed with pulmonary embolisms (Blood clots in both lungs). This is very serious. My doctors are pretty confident that Yasmin is the one and only reason I have this. My percentage of getting this was very, very minimal because I am not of age nor am I a smoker or obese. But I got it! My whole life has changed from the type of food I eat to the activities I do on a regular basis because of the blood thinners I now have to be on. | I took Yasmin off and on for 4+ years. Never, ever, would I have thought it could happen. I had never experience any side effects from taking Yasmin until now. There are alot of women misinformed about the high risks involved with taking Yasmin. If you or someone you know has had ANY side effects or is taking this or YAZ birth control, please ask them to go to the doctor and request a different type of pill or a different type of birth control. Trust me it can happen! The FDA didn't make Bayer, the marketer of YAZ and Yasmin pay millions of dollars in advertisements about the side effects if this pill's major side effects didn't exist. I am sure you have all seen the commercials, if not You Tube them. yasmin claim center | F | 32 | 4 years 3-0.03mg 1X day | 9/17/2010 | 4 | PCOS symptoms | thirst, canker sores, breast enlargement | I am constantly thirsty on Yasmin. It is especially bad for a few hours after I take my pill, but lasts all day no matter how much I drink. Also, within days of starting the pills I got my first canker sore and it took weeks to get rid of. The canker sore did help me lose weight since I couldnt eat but Yasmin also seems to act as an appetite suppressant for me which is nice. One thing I definitely did not like was that I went from a 36C to a 36DDD within three months. Over time and with weight loss I was able to get back to a D cup, but never smaller than that again! Despite the side effects, I have really enjoyed the benefits of Yasmin, which included lighter, shorter and more regular periods. It also helped with my frequent axillary infections and facial/chest hair, all the result of my PCOS. | F | 26 | 1 years 1X day | 9/13/2010 | 2 | contraception | Having been on Yasmin for around six years i have decided to come off it. Since then my hair has been progressively been getting thinner and thinner, and i am very irritable. It has stopped me from getting pregnant, although i am going to try another pill because the hair loss is getting me down. Some made me sick, others depressed/moody. I heard good things about Yasmin; cleared up skin, nice hair and that it is hard to get off the NHS because it is so expensive. I eventually got granted it after trying Marvelon and Cilest. It made me feel a bit queezy at first but this went away. Not long into I started to feel depressed and moody. I tried to fob it off under my life circumstances and didn't want to blame this pill because it was clearing up my skin so quickly. However for the last 2 months I have been taking it I have been having suicidal thoughts, which repeat as if on a loop. Lost all will to live, fantasizing about different ways to kill myself (I have only expereinced these types of thoughts whilst trying out pills - Microgynon also gave me suicidal thoughts. Moody, heavily depressed, unresponsive, angry and generally a real b*tch to everyone, especially my boyfriend. I came off it about a week ago and feel my light and spirit back already. Disappointed it had such a bad effect as really helped my skin but this isn't worth loosing my soul for! Know friends who it works for so dont be totally put off; it is meant to be the 'best' on the market but be warned if it doesnt agree with you, know the symptoms and get off it! it can make your life a misery. | F | 26 | 2 months 1X day | 8/31/2010 | 1 | Birth Control | Severe mood swings..from happy to severely angry/sad in a blink, anxiety, hair loss,insecurity,sexual dryness, weight loss. This pill should be taken off the market..IT INDUCES PSYCHOSIS | F | 30 | 2 years 1X day | 8/30/2010 | 1 | Birth Control | Mood Swings, Anger, Insecure feelings, Inabiility to cope, depression, anxiety, hair loss, jealousy, Irrational thoughts, Quick to blame others for my feelings while knowing I was at fault, Delusional paranoia. | Before starting Yasmin I NEVER suffered from any mental/mood problems. i was always confident and proud of myself, successful at what I did, admired by everyone, secure and loved life. When starting Yasmin I felt ok though slowly I started to feel an underlying anxious feeling within..this progressed to feelings of self doubt, insecurity, jealousy, anger, severe mood swings and so on. I never thought it was the pill because these side effects started off small and slowly. As a result I lost my partner who I loved with all my heart. I would take out most of my anger on him. Make up reasons in doing so while all the time knowing I was completely wrong in my actions and assumptions. After 3 years he simply could not cope anymore. After seeing a counsellor he thought I needed anti depressants. So I saw my new doctor and she said to stop taking Yasmin. So I did. I have been off Yasmin for 1 month and the change in my character is astonishing!!!! I feel so calm, relaxed and at peace. I honestly feel like I have reclaimed my old self. I have had a lot of hair loss and some weight gain but it is so worth it. Its such a shame it took to lose my partner to realise this toxic BCP was to blame for the monster unleashed inside me. I was told I may now have Pulmonary Hypertension (directly from the blood clots), still undergoing testing.
