I switched because after taking it for a while, I started to get cramps again. I thought that maybe my body just adjusted to it or something. I switched to Yaz and never had any cramps. I also had shorter periods. They only lasted like 2-3 days! However, I've been on Yaz for almost 2 years now. Within that time, I've developed many problems, many emotional. Doctor now thinks I'm depressed and need medicine for that. After reading about different birth controls, I realized that my craziness is being caused by Yaz. I also had dizzy spells that really scared me. However there's also a TON of "5" comments that state this is the BEST pill for them. I'm starting on yasmin next month (had to finish out my last pills/pack for the month) and I'm extremely excited. Currently I've been on Kariva (generic of mircette) and while on that one, i gained over 30 pounds back after a 60 pound loss (wasn't on bc when i lost the weight) and i went on and after having NOT changed my new lifestyle/eating/diet I gained 30 pounds. Plus I realized how incredibly exhausted and moody I became on this other pill. From what I see with Yasmin I'm extermely excited to see if it will help almost 'reverse' the side effects I had on this other pill. The one thing with this board is - as others have said - it's all about what works for YOUR body with YOUR metabolism. it's so easy to read just the bad reviews and want to run for the hills. I had some hair loss (but my hair is very thick, so its not so noticeable), but I did start to get acne around my jaw line, which I had never had before. I was still interested in sex, but I would hardly reach orgasm, which was never a problem before. I did lose weight when I started the pill, only about 5lbs, but losing weight is better than gaining!! My GP prescribed me Yasmin because I suffered from extremely painful period pains and mood swings and also because I have polycystic ovaries. I must admitI didnt have any side effects such as nausea however I think it stopped me from losing weight somehow. I walk to work and go to the gym but dont seem to lose anything I also eat healthy. I've now been taking this pill for 3 months. So far i haven't had any problems that were too outrageous(some itching that goes away after putting cream some cream on). But recently i have had trouble falling asleep. It's 3 am and I have no sign of getting sleepy. I have some strange effect where every 2 years I need to switch birth control. I start having breakthrough bleeding about the time I would be ovulating if I wasn't on the pill. I started on Ortho-tricyclen, then moved to Estrostep (the pill from HELL) and then went to Yaz. Its happening again so next month the doctor is starting me on Yasmin. I'm scared to switch because for the first 3 months on Yaz I wanted nothing to do with sex. Even my boyfriend kissing me would make me cringe. On the days he could convince me to have sex with him, I'd try to focus and a grocery list would start in my head and I could never orgasm. I hope that I won't have to go through this again with Yasmin because it is more or less the same pill as Yaz (or at least thats what I've been able to find online.) Please let me know if any of you have switched from Yaz to Yasmin and had any new side effects.
