I became very concerned about the diuretic in YAZ as I am also small frame thin person. When I researched drosperenone I found many women complaining of the same debilitating affects of this pill & its diuretic. And for the first few months, it worked! With no side effects! Periods went away, and PMDD disappeared with them. I even experienced the sense of "well-being" touted in the ads for it. I was so happy. Then after about 4 or 5 months, I started to notice agitation so severe that I'd be standing in front of my class (I'm a teacher) and wonder if I were going to have a panic attack. So I stopped taking it, and the agitation disappeared, but my periods, and the PMDD, resumed. For the next two years, I kept trying it over and over again because it worked so well for my PMDD, but each time, I'd have to stop within just 10 days because the agitation would become so severe. When it started causing insomnia too, I stopped for good. I don't know why Bayer who markets Yasmin and Ocella is not taken off the market. I started to have sleep issues so the Doc told me to get off the Ocella, knockoff of Yasmin. Like magic, the heartburn disappeared in 24 hours. Unbelievable. Now what do I do with the plethera of heartburn medication in my home? Bowel issues seem to be resolved also, I'm only days off of Yasmin. Something very very wrong with this birth control medication. Please someone get this take off the market before others suffered like me. I thought I was losing my mind. Angry at everyone People in general. This crap is horrible. My husband had a vasectomy several years ago, but I am taking this pill to control symptoms of peri-menopause (irregular bleeding and thinning hair). I was very concerned about the side effects - particularly blood clotting that I'm aware is associated with this form of birth control. My gyno convinced me that If I have not had a history of blood clotting and had no issues during my two pregnancies, I should not be concerned. So far, I've felt wonderful and sex drive is way up (26-year marriage). Maybe negative things will take place as I remain on it for an extended length of time - but for now it is working very well for me.
