Started looking up side effects of this drug and then looking at half life and took this info to my doctor and she really feels this is what caused it. It has ruined my life, I am afraid to be alone, afraid of the dark and cannot work. I am a nurse and used to a high stress hospital unit and have never had anxiety issues before! but I cannot even think about taking care of patients while I am like this. I wonder if I'll ever be the same again. I am a high energy person, with high tolerance to pain and rarely ever sick. It is an effort to put one foot in front of the other. I consider myself pretty tough. If I'm prepared for pain, I'm okay, but this is not what I signed up for. Flu like symptoms - nausea, cramps and feverish in addition to the extreme pain upper back to chest. Finally fell asleep 3AM after taking muscle relaxer and 2 extra strength Tylenol. Still didn't occur to me that it was the Actonel. At first I thought my lab puppy pulled leash and thus my back muscle. Then thought a virus coming on, etc. Didn't seem right. Dragged myself to commute to work on Wednesday, but 30 miles into trip made a u-turn back home and prayed I'd reach a bathroom in time. Had watery diarrhea all day - had to change clothes several times - as bad as preparing for colonoscopy. Pain was bearable yesterday but still there and moved more to shoulder/ch | Sheesh, I'd rather have a broken hip and hump back than be this sick every month. Will NOT take anymore of this medication. Just awful. I hope it leaves my body fast. Will keep drinking alot of water and hope for the best. I wish I read more about this drug before taking it. I am generally an active person but now I feel like an invalid--pretty ironic!--and the frightening thing is that I have NO IDEA how long the side-effects will last, since Actonel's half-life is around 500 hours. My doctor wants me to try another drug, but I'm scared to take ANY drug like this. My last dose was 5 days ago and I am still experiencing back and hip pain which has not decreased at all. I have notified my doctor that I cannot take this drug and am stopping it immediately.
