| 1 | Excema | Depression insomnia anxiety | After approx one month on singular I was sleeping less than four hours a night and barely functioning during the day i went back to my doctor and was prescibed Paxil ans Ambien I stopped taking singular and have been able to stop the Paxil and ambien since then if you are on Singular and any anti depressant talk to your doctor about a link why worry about your mental health or be put on unneeded medication if this allergy medicine is to blame the are other medications to treat allergies that wont ruin your life | F | 23 | 6 weeks | 4/13/2008 | 1 | Allergies & Asthma | This is my first night taking this medicine. Within the first week she was having intense nightmares and then began experiencing mood changes, intrusive and suicidal thoughts and ocd, as well as severe abdominal pain over the next few months/yrs. Before taking this drug our daughter was an extremely happy, healthy child without a trace of any of these aforementioned conditions. We questioned our pediatrician multiple times regarding Singulair as the cause of the symptoms, which he dismissed. We kept her on the drug because of this and for the fact it helped with her allergies - for 2 yrs. This was back in 2005-2006 before the black box warning was issued. Our daughter is now 23 yrs old and has lingering side effects from this poison including intrusive thoughts, ocd, nightmares and abdominal issues. She has managed these through therapy, ssri's, watching her diet and continued support from her family. We still regret the day we ever | It seems some have taken this drug with little to no negative side effects. After countless hours of research we have found that perhaps one reason is due to a correlation between montelukast and a mutation in the MTHFR gene (which our daughter has) affecting folate and B vitamin assimilation. | F | 23 | 2 years 1X day | 3/5/2022 | 5 | severe asthma | none | without this medication, i don't get enough oxygen to stay alert, always yawning, can't speak or do any physical activity without breathing hard; have to take my emergency inhaler multiple times a day (which is ineffective), and the damage that was being caused to my lungs from constant wheezing was always increasing. This medicine gave me my life back 13 years ago and today I can run half marathons, play wind instruments----etc do whatever I like with no problems or fear of not being able to breathe. Any day i miss a pill the terrible inability to breathe comes back. This product may not work for everyone, but is certainly worked for me and I think it is worth a try for others who have asthma. The small side effects are worth the overall result. My asthma was back under control within a week. BUT when I'd take my pill I'd either fall asleep within an hour or turn into a zombie who couldn't function. If my alarm or my nephew woke me up before I'd slept long enough I'd wake up feeling sick, with a terrible headache and basically barely functioning. My boyfriend pointed out that I've been down and not really talking to anyone, which while sadness and mood swings aren't my norm I am usually a bit of a loner, just not to this extreme. I had noticed it and was actually thinking I might be a little depressed before seeing the side effects listed here. I've also had a bit of trouble with my stomach, everything from just a stomach ache to that horrid unsettled feeling, and constipation. I'm not sure if I'll stay on this medicine or not. I think I'm going to talk to the doctor and see what other options I have. The weirdest thing is that i has to take off my clothes and get my body freezing cold to make the nausea better. It is 11am now, as long as i keep myself freezing cold (muscles shaking and hurting level of cold) then I don't puke. I am utterly miserable. My body has been so cold for so long because that is the only thing that helps. I have never experienced anything like this before. I am disappointed because I really wanted this med to work. | It is important to mention that i have digestive track paralysis and my reaction to this med may have been a lot stronger because of my pre existing disease. However, the longest stint that I have ever taken monteleukast was about 2 weeks at a time in the past. This year, I decided to keep taking it after allergy season. Very bad idea, I experienced pressure headaches behind my eyes, loss of interest, fatigue, anxiety episodes, feeling of light headiness and wake up in the middle of the night with my heart racing and wouldn't be able to go back to sleep.
