The first week I noticed I wasn't as hungry and had Wicked dry mouth..so i was drinking lots of water..doesnt sound so bad does it. By the second week..i started having panic attacks..started to lose my personality..and became depressed. I lost 7 kgs in 3 weeks The third week..this past week...has quite literally been a nightmare. I had derealisation..feeling like you are in a world that isn't real...and it was scary. I couldn't sleep..when I did I had vivid dreams. I went to my dr 5 times in the 3 weeks and she was adamant this drug was the right one for me..i just had to ride the side effects out. The day after a drs visit I called the ambulance. I felt like i was going to pass out..probably from lack of food.. or pure fear. I went to the dr again the next day (yep should probably have a mug with my name on it by now) and she said to keep taking lorazepam to squash the side effects and assured me again..this too shall pass. That night ( last night) I hit rock bottom. I felt like i was a burden to my family. I would never hurt myself im too scared of dying..but i just felt like a massive burden and a complete mess. Looking back I think I was experiencing work anxiety and occasional panic attacks - as such, I should never had really started taking them but I thought it was super important to stop smoking. Upon taking my tablet on day 6 I felt extremely ill and thought I was going to have a heart attack. I do not think Zyban was in itself the cause of my panic attacks but I believe it triggered them. I have never smoked since but it was a heavy price to pay - I simply can't recommend it for anyone as it truly ruined my life for 3 years. On that day, at night, I have looked up internet, and learned that tinnitus is a very serious symptom. I decided to give up the drug, and then again tried to sleep with the bells on my ear. At night, I felt jitters on my arms and legs and there was secretion in my ears.This morning, day 16, when I woke up my muscles on my legs and arms were stiff, there was an ache on my neck. Today I didnt take the drugs, about two hours ago I had a severe nuisance and intestinal disorder. My face went white and I was so scared that I thought I was dying. My abdomen was bloating, there was a slight ache on my stomach. After half an hour, I went to toilet I had constipation. Then again I went to toilet and this time I had diarrhea. I felt terrible but relieved as the ache and bloating on my abdomen was gone. First day I felt a bit weird, my body started twitching and I could feel my pulse all over my body. I figured it was tolerable. Same symptoms for 3 days while on one pill/day, with added jitters, and some feeling of anxiety but was tolerable. After 3 days still not feeling any change in smoking desire. On day 4 I upped to 2 pills/day (one early, one later) and the anxiety became tenfold. I slept 3 hours in two days. The only way I can describe what came next was " a whole lot of crazy". I felt like I've lost my mind, unsure of everything. Feeling completely like I can't get through the next minute, exasperated. On the last day I took this med (day 6) I took only 1 pill as I thought it might lessen the effects, and it was not any less, I was still crazy crazy crazy. I was terrified like I was trapped in a bad place and could not get out. My whole body was twitching, shaking, headache, nausea. The thoughts would not slow down, just on overdrive for everything. Today being day 7 I am not taking any more of this medication and I feel a little better today but still feel some of the effects. I feel more rational of mind like my real true self. Yesterday I felt like it was someone else in control and it was SOO bad, oh so bad. I had a lot of struggle just getting through every moment of the day yesterday. Still craved cigs whole time. The good news is I have been ciggie free for a month now, and slowly feeling better in myself. I read on the net that it takes a week or more for the drug to clear itself from the body once stopped. ZYBAN (BUPROPION HYDROCHLORIDE): This medication is used in combination with a stop-smoking program (e.g., support group, counseling) to help you quit smoking.
