I'm also in physical therapy. THANKS to my newest and only cardiologist, after my 2 younger brothers died of heart failure, ran a bunch of tests, all good thanks, but my high cholesterol and high triglycerides still not better. | FINALLY got off the LIPITOR, and now on CRESTOR which has miraculously in 2 years lowered my cholesterol to NORMAL ranges, and my TRIGLYCERIDES less than one third of the levels I'd had for 20 years. So many specialists and years of toxic Lipitor!! I'm so mad!!! But I am grateful to finally be feeling better, and having some amazing lower numbers in cholesterol/triglycerides! There is HOPE, keep asking questions and KEEP looking for alternatives!!! SHAME on the FDA for approving so many toxic drugs. LIPITOR (ATORVASTATIN CALCIUM): Atorvastatin is used along with a proper diet to help lower "bad" cholesterol and fats (such as LDL, triglycerides) and raise "good" cholesterol (HDL) in the blood. It belongs to a group of drugs known as "statins." It works by reducing the amount of cholesterol made by the liver. Lowering "bad" cholesterol and triglycerides and raising "good" cholesterol decreases the risk of heart disease and helps prevent strokes and heart attacks. In addition to eating a proper diet (such as a low-cholesterol/low-fat diet), other lifestyle changes that may help this medication work better include exercising, losing weight if overweight, and stopping smoking.
