It worked but way too much bloating with lots of gas and pain lasting for hours. I stopped taking miralax two years ago because of too many side effects. Why is it always advertised as being gentle with ni bloating, no gas, no pain. Simply not true (for me). Maybe for people with IBS, all laxatives cause problems. I can't eat because when I do it feels like my stomach is not digesting it. My stomach gets so insanely bloated and sore it's hard to breath. I have no idea why this medication is still the #1 bowel prep and for constipation. It needs to be off the market. It says right on the bottle do not take if you have IBS yet my gastro diagnosed me with IBS right before she prescribed miralax for me. The 3rd day I had a BM but the gas was so bad and the smell of my gas was super bad. Sulphuric smelling. I figured it would go away and maybe this was "cleaning" out my system and I needed to let it run it's course. So, I took Mirilax again the 3rd day but nothing changed. And maybe it's still too soon to tell, but the gas and bloating is too uncomfortable. I also have had intermittent bowel movements bc my stool is too soft and sometimes feels like I'm going to have a little diarrhea if I let out too much gas. So my liquidy and softer stools are not worth it to me. My stools were always normal previously, but didn't come very often within a week. I'll stick to Metamucil, fruits, and drinking water. I'm 6 days out now from when I initially started taking it and 2-3 days from my last dose.
