| 1 | UTI | If I had know I would have NEVER taken this - I want to know why a doctor would prescribe this when the CDC and FDA recommend this drug NOT BE GIVEN FOR routine infections!! I took this Oct 2016 and my insides still feel terrible with HORRIBLE burning vag and tons of gas. Doc and OBgyn state all appear normal. THIS COMPANY should pay everyone who has taken it. I was so careful how I moved, not to strain, or fall or twist anything and to this day I am still a cripple in pain. Levaquin is a horrible drug which should be taken off the market. I don't understand why the Doctor gave me such an overkill drug. I am angry and scared because I may never be like I use to be. This has really effected my job, my life my attitude and most of all my self esteem . This was August 2015. Today I'm suffering what I believe is tendon tears in my foot along with nerve damage - painful. I also suffer flare ups of tendonitis through out my body. My doctor has been of no help, she became very dismissive when the subject of Levofloxicin and my reaction to it got brought to her attention, she said I'd have a hard time trying to prove my symptoms were from this drug. It didn't cure my bronchitis. In the end I had to switch to another antibiotic. Anyone who had bad side effects to this drug, ask your doctor to place a notice in your medical records for allergic reaction to flouroquinilones. You never know one day you might be unconscious and they might administer it by IV. My story is very lengthy, as it took me almost a full year to recover from Levaquin. I believe this drug did damage to my nervous system. After much intensive research, the solution to reverse the toxic effects of this drug was found to be Glutathione. I ate lots and lots of spinach for a full year to reverse the effects. After about 6 months I started to feel normal again, and after a year I was near 100%. If you have low glutathione stores, and you take this drug, you are done. It depletes glutathione quickly, and once that is gone, it is open season on your nervous system. I have read many studies on this issue, and I feel really bad for some people who took damage from this drug early on, before the research about the glutathione effects were available. Anyway.... I'm better now, and as much as I'd like to say I'd never take it again, if I had an unresponsive infection and there was nothing else to cure it, I would if there was a chance to save my life. Best wishes! | The short list of damage that fluoroquinolones (FQs) did to me includes blood clots, broken blood vessels, bloated failing veins carved from 13 entry points, erratic blood pressure, hemochromatosis, liver damage, kidney damage, pulmonary edema, collapsed lung, hernia, torn lumbar muscle, half dozen bulging discs when I had none a few years before, peripheral neuropathy, shrinking eyeballs, tinnitus, multi-chemical sensitivity, gastrointestinal distress, hair loss, crumbling teeth, nosebleeds, nails fall off, spontaneous tendon ruptures, a cartilage transplant, ligament damage, cognitive impairment and horrific mental anguish, psychosis, anxiety attacks and hundreds of other bizarre and awful health issues.
