FLOMAX  (TAMSULOSIN HYDROCHLORIDE):  Tamsulosin is used by men to treat the symptoms of an enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia-BPH). It does not shrink the prostate, but it works by relaxing the muscles in the prostate and the bladder. This helps to relieve symptoms of BPH such as difficulty in beginning the flow of urine, weak stream, and the need to urinate often or urgently (including during the middle of the night). Tamsulosin belongs to a class of drugs known as alpha blockers.  1  Large prostate, frequent urination Very bad double vision. Do not feel well. I only took it it twice and immediately had double vision. Stopped taking it right away. Would not recommend for anyone. I cannot even drive. Never had this problem prior to taking the medication. Very aggravating!! M 66 2 days

 3  Kidney stone stuck in ureter I was actually expecting some really horrific side effects based on what I read on this website. Last night I took my first pill and woke up this morning with a tight bloated feeling. I also got the stuffy nose but didn’t think it was related to the pill but now I know it was. ( after doing my research ). Other than that, I am not experiencing anything out of the normal. I will have to take this pill another nine days. Hopefully, this will alleviate me having to do surgery with the stent which I found out is very very horrific F 66 1 days

Urine flow better, but my belief is that this drug, like all other synthetic pharmaceuticals, is not recognized by the body as anything other than poison.  1  not emptying bladder Anxious, depressed mood. Frightening episodes like a bad drug rush in my head, even when in bed sleeping. Confusion Stopped after 3 days. Should not have been taking anyway as I amallergic to sulfa drugs. M 76 3 days

 3  Hydronephrosis Feeling of being "high". Depressed mood. I've only been on flomax for 4 days. I can finally per but, I don't like how my head feels. I'm going to continue taking it. Hopefully the side effects will go away soon. Doc said it could take up to a month to get adjusted to it. F 44 4 days

 2  bph & urinary problems Began taking Flomax 4 months ago for BPH, urinary urgency, incontinence and frequency. Within 1 week noticed significant leg fatigue and weakness (especially with work outs) and retrograde ejaculation. Approximately 2 weeks after the onset of very weak erections and loss of libido. At this point I'm finding it almost impossible to get even a semi-soft erection if any. I went off this med approximately 3 weeks ago and still no improvement with the ED. I am a very healthy 64 y.o. male and very fit. Prior to this I NEVER had any difficulties achieving a strong, long lasting erection and lways had a strong libido. Wondering if taking this medication has caused some permanent damage. Extremely frustrated and humiliated. Be careful with this stuff!! Taking chances if you're sexually active and over 60.  1  Enlarged prostate - urine retention Fever, headache, nausea, heavy breathing/stuffy nose, dizziness I took it for 3 nights... Difficulty sleeping - stopped taking it and 2 days later feeling lethargic, headache and depression. Medical staff did not educate or warn me of side effects..Had to find out by my own research. Of course it's a weekend and cannot speak to my doctor to change my prescription. M 55 3 days

 4  enlarged prostate Retrograde ejaculation I have been on generic Flomax for about 13 months; the ability to pass urine is great; most nights I only have to get up once; and feel great when I awaken. The retrograde ejaculation was really bad at first but now the sex drive is very good and frequent and frequently the sensitivity to the penis is very satisfying; there is at times ejaculation; seems that less aggressive masturbation seems to be the key for me. My urologist says I am candidate for urolift and could go off meds; he also says the retrograde ejaculation would end and normal function would return. I am seriously considering this option. M 68

 2  Poor urinary flow Extreme dizziness when getting up from recumbent or sitting position. Tiredness. Poor sexual performance. These are troublesome and probably dangerous effects as a fall could result. Capsules cannot be split to reduce the dose. Wonder if anyone has tried an every other day, or every third day dosage scheme. Will have to discontinue the medication unless I find a way to deal with these pesky side effects. Ask you doctor if this medicine is right for you? Not really. The doctor really does not know except what the pharma rep tells him. I'd rather ask a real expert, that is a patient. M 78 21 days
