| 4 | Osteoporosis from cancer drugs | I have not had anything that I could put down to side effects. | I have been prescribed this drug to help the restoring of my bones. Osteoporosis due to cancer drugs. In a year I will be able to see if this drug has done its job through a bone density scan. I am also so tired but the pain has kept me from sleeping the past couple nites & i hate pain pills. If u have have any help please contact me. | F | 60 | 3 weeks | 12/21/2014 | 1 | Transient Osteoporosis of the Wrist | Muscle and bone pain(so severe that I have been living on Painkillers for 3 days) fatigue, diarrhea(not severe but it is there for about a week), later developed herthburn | A bit about me: I am 34 years old and I have been training hard all my life(sports). Unfortunately I developed some traumatic bone marrow edema on my wrist/hand bones(advice: NEVER start punching a boxing bag without hand protection, especially if you have been building strength without training your punching technique) and since the pain refused to go away in a reasonable amount of time(1 year) the Doc decided to try to increase my bone density with this damn drug. Usually I review the drugs i am about to take but this time I did not. So basically I am a relatively healthy man that is relatively accustomed to pain(contact sports) Took it as prescribed on day 0 In the morning of day 1 I woke up with mild pain on my shoulder blade(like a sprung muscle) By 11:00 same day my sternum was hurting so badly that i needed to go home from work(school teacher) and start the painkillers(metamizol bases). the pain was so bad that I could not turn in the bed, but luckily it was just stabbing when I was breathing deeply or moving. Day 2 started with the sternum pain+groin pain(suspect the hip) so badly that i could not tread straight. And that while still on painkillers(by this time I decided that double the dose might work so I was on double the prescribed dose). From day 3 and 4 luckily the pain in the bones slowly diminished and by day 5 I was able to resume my daily running routine. Now, at day 6 I am mostly asymptomatic(except for the heartburn and the mild diarrhea that developed | M | 34 | 1 days 70 1X W | 12/13/2014 | 1 | Osteoporosis | Dreadful pain in hip, tummy and bowel problems exacerbated, awful taste in mouth which led to loss of appetite, build up of phlegm like problem and cough and loss of sleep pattern. | my mother started Osteomel on Oct 4th 2014. We stopped it after second dose. Her health went into immediate decline. It appears she was ingesting some food and liquids from the little she was eating.The phlegm and cough led to a lung infection and she died of pneumonia on November 17th. She lost her swallow in her final days and the medics admitted her gastric tract was damaged. Also eye pain and inflammation which required a trip to eye doctor the first week. Eye meds did not help and eye inflammation got worse with successive doses. Did not take last dose, but pain in hips, lower back, neck, buttocks linger after 10 days since last dose. Also a few chest pains. Eyes are feeling better now that I'm off it. The consultant was appalled that I had been prescribed Alendronic Acid by my G.P. I had been flagged by the National Health as someone who may suffer from osteoporosis sometime in the future and my G.P. called me to see him where he then prescribed the drug without offering me a bone density scan. My G.P. later admitted to me that the drug would have been a contributory factor to my current serious health issues which have left me in a far worse state of health than ever before I started taking the drug. | F | 57 | 10 months 70 mg 1X W | 7/8/2014 | 1 | osteoporosis | thanks to those who recommended strontium | I urge everyone to research strontium for building bone density. I just ordered some on Amazon and you can read reviews there--it sold me. My doctor just prescribed Fosamax for me. Before taking even one dose I read user reviews and became too scared to take even once. Strontium has been researched and is used in Europe. Not only does it help with osteoarthritis, but it also builds bone density--with little to no side effects for just about everyone. This is all from a single tablet of Fosamax.
