| 1 | To improve bone loss. | Has left me with a terrible taste in my mouth. If anyone out there knows if this is reversible or how long will it last. Is going on 2 months. I rather break a bone than take this medications. My "specialist" insisted I stay on the drug. The 2nd dose had me rocking myself in pain, holding my groin area most nights that week. I was in tears. Still, I hoped it would pass. Finally after the 3rd pill, the intense groin agony was accompanied with severe chest/rib pain. I stopped taking it. My doctor was so angry, she raised her voice to me. I quit her, too. We must LISTEN TO OUR BODIES! | I have no idea how Fosamax was approved by the FDA; it's poison! It destroyed my friend's esophagus, & caused me much misery. Fortunately, the side effects subsided after I stopped taking Fosamax. BTW, the MG amount noted above is probably incorrect. I can't recall the dosage, but it was the one pill per week prescription-& doc said she was giving me a "typical"doseage for an osteoporosis patient in my age range. (I am 58.) I advise anyone to stop taking Fosamax immediately if you have averse side effects. I don't think the medical field knows enough about this disease to treat it properly. I feel we're being used as test subjects. We deserve better than a box of pills that includes a list of so many dangerous side effects, the company includes MANY pages of warnings,written in font so tiny, that even one with great vision (like me) needed a magnifying glass to read all the risk factors of this "medicine." It's all about money, as usual -the greed of the pharmaceutical industry. We need to tell our doc's & show these corporations we will not allow them to prescribe us toxic chemicals! A couple of years after taking it, her jaw/teeth began to become deformed. They became so bad that she needed all her teeth pulled out. For a year, she could not eat solid food. Now, she has dentures, but it's been very problematic, too, and she can still barely eat. She's been emaciated for a long time. Also, she has serious GI issues, chronic pain all over, and many other painful, severe medical problems. She is only in her early 60s, but is in much worse condition than people decades older. In short, Fosamax has made her face/jaw deformed (ONJ), made her lose all her teeth, caused long-term emaciation, chronic pain, and much more. She is homebound and barely living because of Fosamax. It's caused a host of severe, life-threatening disabilities for her. | Do not take this extremely damaging drug. My mother's NP told her to take it supposedly for osteoporosis prevention, when she didn't even need it. It's shocking that a drug intended for good, unnecessarily, has basically ruined her life, deformed her, and caused much pain and disability. We're still looking for an attorney for her. I've called a number of attorneys, but they all said they're not taking Fosamax cases. Are there any attorneys taking Fosamax cases in the Bay Area, CA? I stopped the medication and don't plan to take it anymore whatsoever. I will research natural ways to improve my bone density.
