| 2 | osteoporosis | difficulty walking, bad joint pains, swelling in hand/arm and also in legs | F | 71 | 3 months | 11/18/2001 | 1 | To prevent osteoporosis | Problems with my esophagus and my stomach, pain in my chest. | I have had reflux disease for the last 6 months. I have talked with other people who have had the same problem after taking Fosamax, it should be out of the market. | F | 70 | 15 months | 6/6/2002 | 1 | osteoporosis | Nausea, sweating, achy feeling. | would never use again. | F | 64 | 20 days | 6/9/2002 | 1 | osteoporosis | Joint pains and severe swelling in my hands. | BEWARE of this drug if you are taking anti-inflammatory drugs. I have chronic tendinitis in my hands and wrists. Anti-inflamatory drugs normally do a fair job of keeping the swelling under control. Swelling causes severe pain and stiffness in my fingers and wrist joints. Two weeks after starting the Fosamax I noticed more swelling and pain than normal for my condition. Not linking the swelling to the Fosamax drug, I continued taking it. After three months I could not use my hands to even dress myself without crying from the pain. My Doctor said it couldn't have any connection and to keep taking the Fosamax. I decided to stop taking it and now after two weeks the swelling is responding to my anti-inflammatory drug again. | F | 58 | 3 months | 6/10/2002 | 4 | steroid induced osteoporosis | increased sensitivity to spicy or acidic foods. | Bone remineralized in hip to near normal level for my age. Held progress of osteoporosis in spine. | M | 56 | 2 years | 6/20/2002 | 3 | osteoporois | stiffness | F | 73 | 5 years | 7/7/2002 | 4 | M | 60 | 4 months | 11/26/2002 | 1 | bone density | The pressure in my eyes (glaucoma) developed rapidly after starting fosamax. | More research is needed on the effects of this drug on the eyes. | F | 79 | 3 months | 12/11/2002 | 2 | osteoporosis | leg pain, hip pain, general bad feeling | F | 58 | 6 months | 12/25/2002 | 3 | Osteopenia | Severe and abrupt leg cramps, stiffness, hip pain | My bone density has increased rapidly but I'm not sure I will continue taking it for too long. I may rest for a period of time and re-start after. Not sure. | F | 45 | 4 months | 1/26/2003 | 1 | Osteopenia | Stiffness, aches & pains in all joints. Slight swelling. | Started in my hands, really bad. I thought I was getting arthritis, but then I realized every joint in my body was stiff and achy, including my feet! When I move, I can hear the joints crack and pop. I had not connected it to fosamax, but decided to check the brochure for side effects and noticed that this condition was one of the side effects, though not the main one advertised. I have only been off the drug for one week. Notice slight improvement. Am hoping it will get better the longer I am off of it. | F | 57 | 4 months | 4/6/2003 | 4 | osteopenia | I currently take 35 mg. once a week. I have not had any side effects. Bone density scans show that I am still in the osteopenia stage after 4 years of fosamax. I may need to increase dosage to 70 mg. once a week if my next scan doesn't show improvement. | F | 52 | 4 years | 4/14/2003 | 3 | Small loss of bone | Noticed right away my Sciatic pain increased measureably to the point I wanted to cry! I kept taking other pain killers and I also had 3 shots in my back for pain! Although the shots helped pain did not completely go away. I ran out of it for a few days once and noticed my pain lessened quite a lot! Then I started taking the once a week pill. The pain came back with a vengence! I could hardly move at night to the point I didn't want to get out of bed to go to the bathroom because I knew when I got back into bed I would be in excruciating pain! Not that laying in bed helped the pain. Trying to go back to sleep with the pain was not easy. Now my doctor is retiring and I ran out of the pills and to be honest I DON'T want to take them again! For the first time in a long while I can go to and get out of bed without severe pain! I wouldn't recommend it if you have a sciatic nerve problem! I feel SO MUCH better now and I can move around with little pain, although the sciatic pain is by no means gone it SURE is livable now! Oh yes, I too also have a problem with my ankles cracking and feeling stiff in both my feet and hands. | F | 59 | 3 years | 5/28/2003 | 4 | Osteoporosis | No side effects so far | Pain is almost gone. Will take bone density in the near future to see ,if improvement can be seen | M | 62 | 13 months | 6/30/2003 | 2 | bone density problems | After taking it for 3 months my fingers, middle finger on each hand started hurting. I stopped for 2 weeks and it went away. I had never had any pain in my hands or other joints other than my hip when I drive. Now after taking it for 3 more months the joints in my thumbs, all of them are hurting. I have again stopped for a week and they are getting better. I don't know if the fosamax has helped with the bone density problem; however, if I cannot find studies that address the problem, I will take my chances with my bones as I had no pain before.I am currently on no other medication-- and according to the study that recently came out they do not know if the drug actually prevents fractures---why would it be prescribed if that is true? | M | 61 | 7 months | 3/23/2004 | 1 | Chemo-induced osteoporosis | I developed a pain after two days under my sternum. The pain continued for the full week of my weekly dose. | F | 47 | 1 weeks | 4/1/2004 | 1 | osteopenia | I was not connecting the joint pain and spinal pain which has been gradually increasing to Fosamax until this morning I could hardly get out of bed for all the aching and decided to do a search for side effects on this drug. I have been seeing a chiropractor and it helps while I go somewhat but never goes away completely. I am on Fosamax for a year and a half but after reading user comments I am definitely stopping this drug. I was healthy except for bone loss and take NO other medications. I am so happy I found your web site!!!! | I am going to continue to readup on latest advances, and take natural vitamins and minerals. I am just happy to know that my instincts about my own health are correct. | F | 66 | 1 days | 4/9/2004 | 1 | osteoprosis | acute joint pain in shoulder initially, which has now moved to my wrist and fingers. I feel horrible! | I took only one 70mg pill 5 days ago and have been in extreme pain for the past 3 days. I will not be continuing with this drug!! | F | 50 | 6 days | 4/24/2004 | 1 | Osteo | Horrendous back and hip pain. | F | 57 | 6 weeks | 5/12/2004 | 3 | osteoporosis | have been taking about 4 weeks, have severe acid reflux reaction and nausea, heartburn soon passed. Will have another bone density test June 2, depending on this, I may decided to quit taking fosamax..Also have arthritis and fosamax has made this seem much worse.. I am trying to decide what to do. Also have dark stools, but the nurse asked me to try a few more weeks. Iam uncertain at this point | I am 74 female | 74 | 4 days | 5/26/2004 | 1 | Beginning of Osteoporosis | Pain and Muscle weakness in both arms. I couldn't lift a bottle of laundry detergent. I was on it for 3 months and felt perfectly fine before taking Fosamax. After a Dexascan I was advised by my physician to begin 70 mg once a week since my scan showed that I had the bone loss of a 70 yr old woman...I'm 52. I didn't question it...my mother is on the daily dose. She has complained about achy hip and legs and hands for years. I think much of those aches are because of Fosamax. I have been off of it for 2 weeks now and my left arm is almost back to normal. My right arm is still weak and has pain. | I believe further study has to be done with this drug. I had absolutely no aches and pains before taking this medicine. For me it is awful. I thought I was losing the use of my arms and hands to arthritis... boy was I wrong... it was Fosamax. | F | 52 | 3 months | 6/21/2004 | 1 | Osteoporosis | It started with a slight pain in my muscles and bones each time I took a weekly dose. After a couple of months I developed such an excruciating pain in my bones and muscles that I couldn't move or stand. My Pharmacist informed me to stop taking Fosamax immediately and the pain slowly disappeared over several weeks. But I had to take Painkillers in the meantime to make it thru this ordeal. On a scale from 1 thru 10 the pain was a 10. I will go back to my own vitamin concoction, because I didn't experienced pain before taking Fosamax. | I wish I had known the terrible side effects of Fosamax | F | 62 | 1 years | 7/2/2004 | 2 | osteopenia | Had only taken for two weeks (once a week tab) and had chronic sore throat. Stomach pain was constant and also joint pain that I had never had before. | ???Is it worth it. Do the side effects subside after taking for a while, because I don't know if I want to continue. | F | 51 | | 8/12/2004 | 1 | Osteopenia, Osteoporosis | I have been having difficulty getting up from a sitting position and also getting out of cars. Both of my legs hurt but the right one is really bad. My upper legs seem very weak. All of this started approximately Dec. 2003 and last week an orthopedic surgeon suggested I stop taking Fosamax to see if it makes any difference. I started taking it in Nov. 2003 so it does seem that it might be the cause of all of my pain. I am wondering how long it takes to get the stuff out of my system. It sure would be nice to go back to how I felt before I started taking it. I feel like I've aged 100 years in 9 months. | F | 58 | 9 months | 8/16/2004 | 1 | osteoporosis | severe abdominal pain, severe back pain, bloating, muscle spasms felt as though hit by a baseball bat. Breathing very difficult. Mild sore throat, some trouble swallowing. Have only taken the once (prescribed the 1 day a week pill 70mg) | Side effects of drug too difficult to manage. | F | 56 | 1 days | 8/17/2004 | 1 | Osteopenia | My GYN recommended it for osteopenia. A few days after the first once-per-week dosage I began having joint pains in my thumbs which shortly took over my whole hand, now my whole body. I feel like I have the flu all the time or full body arthritis. I had none of these symptoms before and have only been taking Fosamax for one month. I saw my PCP who did blood work to check for arthritis and he recommended that I stop taking the Fosamax after checking the side effects. It may work for some people, but it has made me feel miserable and I am not taking it any more. I feel worse than a 90-year-old woman and move about like one. | Anyone taking it should be VERY cautious about any changes in pain and/or side effects they experience and report them to their physician. | F | 50 | 30 days | 8/27/2004 | 1 | osteoporosis preventative | I started taking Fosamax 70mg once weekly in Nov 2002. After about a month I began to have pain and weakness in my fingers, hands and wrists, particularly early morning and after periods of inactivity. My chosen day to take Fosamax was Sunday, initially the problem was on the Sunday, the more I took the further into each week the problem lasted until it was continuous and my hands became very weak. The problem presented itself like fluid around my joints, shaking my hands and holding my arms above my head helped, I was convinced that I had some dibilitating disease. I stopped taking the drug after about four months and immediately the problem stopped worsening.I had many tests, blood and nerve conduction tests included. The results were all negative. My consultant asked me to keep a food diary and from this I am convinced that the problem is linked to the amount of fruit, fruit drinks wine etc that I consume, particularly tomatoes and citrus fruits. I have contacted the manufacturers to ask them to conduct an investigation into a link with Fosamax and Fruit acids but they are not interested. I still have the problem but I can now control it by reducing the amount of fruit and fruit acids in my diet.No one can tell me how long this drug will be in my system and therefore how long I will have to suffer this unrecognised side effect of Fosamax. | F | 58 | 4 months | 8/27/2004 | 1 | Preventive | Severe pain in my ankles and wrist keeps me up at night and effects my life style. Pain relievers such as Advil do not touch the pain and HydroCodone has its own problems and side effects. I quite taking Fosamx for a month and was getting better. I tried it after a month (weekly dose of 70MG) and by bedtime my pain was back. I will continue to take calcium but I am done with Fosamax. | Someone needs to get this imformation out to the public, it took me a long time before I found this site. The Fosamax manufacturer probably knows about these problems but doesn't want the information out. | F | 57 | 3 months | 8/30/2004 | 1 | Osteoporosis | I was not connecting the joint, muscle pain, especially in my wrists, feet, and back until recently. My rheumatologist prescribed double doses of Celebrex, to no avail. Recently, I experienced problems swallowing, throat pain and heartburn and began to connect it to the possibility that it may be Fosamax. I will discontinue immediately. I wonder how long it will take to get this out of my system! | My last bone density test went from Osteoporosis to Osteopenia. Am not sure it's worth the side effects. | F | 63 | 3 years | 9/7/2004 | 1 | Osteoperosis | Aching muscles which progressively became worse over the 10-month period I was taking Fosamax. Any exertion made me feel better temporarially but suffer more later on. Mornings were my worse time or sitting for long periods of time. | I stopped taking it and within a couple of weeks was feeling like my old self. | F | 56 | 10 months | 9/10/2004 | 1 | osteopenia | It started out with headaches during the first month. I also developed numbness in my fingers which later progressed to numbness in my hands by the end of the first month. The numbness was the worst in the morning after I got out of bed. By the second month my neck would hurt really bad when I woke up. During the second month the bones in my back and arms would hurt so much that I would wake up sometimes at 3:30 in the morning. By the 11th week of taking the drug my bones and muscles hurt most of the time and the fingers in my right hand were actually swollen when I would wake up.I finally asked myself what I was doing differently and after reading the pamphlet in the medication realized that my symptoms were a reaction to the fosamax. | Don't take this drug! If you read the fine print you will see that the drug company doesn't have any results about the benefits beyond two years, and who knows what the long term effects are. If you do any other research you will find out that it can also damage your liver. And although it can build denser bones it doesn't do it in a way that is positive. Fosomax kills the osteoclasts (the bone absorbing cells), it doesn't inhibit the osteoclasts like estrogen. If the osteoclast cells are removed the bone gets much denser, but that doesn't mean that they are stonger. The bones are weaker because they have not been allowed to remold themselves and readjust to the constantly chaning forces that are applied to the bones. This means that actually the rick of bone fracture is increased. It is not worth it feel lousy to have a drug make so called repairs when it really isn't. Once again the drug companies are giving us something that really doesn't do what it is supposed to. And once again the doctores are prescribing drugs that they really know nothing about. I should have done my research before. Also, just becuase you have osteopenia doesn't mean that there is something wrong with you. You could have a medical history that has made your bones what they are. Did your period start late when you were a teenager? Did you have erratice periods during some period before you were 30? Did you ever have an underactive thyroid? All of these are things that could have effected the developement of your bones. Talk to your doctor before they prescribe this drug. If you get a bone scan be aware that there are two different scoring methods, a Z score and a T score. The z score is age mathched to the norm for your age, sex and size. The T-score compares your density to the average bone density of a health young adule woman. Review the scores and know what they mean. You could be at the very bottom of a score and a doctor is just prescribing the drug to be on the safe side. Wouldn't it be better to just improve your diet, add some Vitamin D and minerals and start lifiting weights 2 or 3 times a week than take a drug that may make you feel horrible and possibly harm your liver. | F | 56 | 11 weeks | 9/20/2004 | 3 | osteoporouses | hip and ankle pain, leg cramps | F | 57 | 11 months | 10/3/2004 | 1 | improve bone density | Thought I was imaging things when I woke up at 2AM with back, chest & muscle pain - enough to want to make me cry, aspirin helped a little. Always had a little joint pain in the morning, but nothing like this. After reading previous posts, I feel this is a direct result from my first dose of FOSAMAX. Called my doctor, she said to stop taking it & scheduled an appt. | F | 55 | 1 days | 10/6/2004 | 1 | extreme osteopenia | 1 pill 70 mg 19 hours later I awoke in such severe pain. Headache, sore throat, chest, back, legs, wrists and hip pain like I never, ever had before and don't ever want again. It is now 4 days later I still have chest pain a sore throat and in the morning my wrists still hurt. I am scheduled for another dose of death Saturday, but I don't believe that life is supposed to be this way. I am 57 and if this is what the rest of my life will be like then I would rather be dead! I will take my chances with my bones the way they are. | I think before prescribing this medication the doctors should try it themselves, they may not be so critical of their patients that do not want to take it anymore. | F | 57 | 1 days | 10/6/2004 | 2 | osteopenia | Pain in hip, knee and toes. Lower back pain extreme to the point of difficulty getting up out of a chair - walk bent over for a few strides! Difficulty getting in and out of my car. Extreme fatigue. Interrupted sleep pattern. | Am taking in liquid form, once a week and have taken 3 doses. I have always been an athlete - competed in swimming in the Senior Olympics in Va. last year. Don't have the energy to train anymore. Did not realize the pain I was experiencing could be related to this drug until someone suggested I look at this website. My GYN plans to keep me on it for 2 years and rerun the bone density scan. I'm contacting her to discuss other options. | F | 58 | 3 weeks | 10/7/2004 | 1 | osteopenia | Hands, feet, skull, and eye pain, and blurring. Tendinitis in arms and legs. Opthalmogist starting monitoring for glacoma after noticing changes in eye. Podiatrist thought I should be checked for rhematoid arthritis. My fingers swelled so much, I had to have my wedding ring resized from a 5 to 6-1/2. Didn't connect all these symptons for a very long time, until my doctor (due to stopping hrt) increased the Fosamax dosage from 35 mg. to 70 mg. once a week. After about 2 months all of my symptons had intensified, and the light went on! After stopping Fosamax with my doctor's blessing all of the symptons disappeared. Last glacoma test showed a big improvement. I will never take this drug again. | F | 57 | 3 days | 10/7/2004 | 1 | Osteopenia | Flu like symptoms, muscle pain, nausea, eye pain and blurry vision. | I WOULD NOT EVER TAKE THIS DRUG AGAIN. | F | 53 | 1 days | 10/11/2004 | 1 | Ostioperosis | Severe muscle spasms in my back, legs, feet and hips, back and hip pain severe enough to have to get muscle relaxers, and pain killer as well as take time off from work. Pain was so severe I could not sit, stand, walk or bend without extreme pain. | These symptoms occured within weeks of my first time taking 70mg./wk. I previously had no joint pains or issues with muscle spasms. Suspecting it might be the Fosamax, I discontinued it's use for several month and the symptoms disappeared. Then in my yearly physical with my primary care physician, I explained why I had stopped using Fosamax, and he said he didn't think my muscle spasms and hip and joint pains were related, and encouraged me to begin taking it again. The second time I began taking the medication it only took 3 weeks for all my symptoms to return. | F | 50 | 1 years | 10/14/2004 | 1 | bone loss | Within 12 hours after taking my initial dose (70mg. 1/per week) I developed acute flu like symptoms, which included, extreme chills, all over body ache, and a temperature of 100.4, and diaherrea. On the next day the above symptoms had decreased appreciably. | F | 59 | 1 days | 10/18/2004 | 1 | osteoporosis in hip | After the first once a week pill, I had severe joint pain, with muscles aches all over my body. I did not take the next pill until a month later as I had a 3 week trip to Europe planned and did not want to chance feeling terrible. I took the second pill when I got back and the side effects were immediate, although different and much worse! The first day I was extremely tired, felt like I needed to sleep all day long. Later in the day I had severe heartburn and I also noticed a pain in the roof of my mouth. The next day, the pain in the roof of my mouth was worse and I could feel something, like a lump. It is now 6 days since I took the pill and the sore is much larger and the pain is excruciating. It hurts terribly to swallow and I can't eat and can barely talk. I went to my doctor yesterday and she said it was definitely a side effect of Fosamax and to quit taking it. Duh! Then she sent me on my way for two weeks!! I'm quitting Fosamax and my doctor! | Do not take this drug. Even if you do not have any noticable side effects, it is probably doing something bad to you. It is not worth it. There is probably a natural alternative that works just as well. | F | 51 | 2 days | 10/20/2004 | 1 | osteoporosis | From the very first time I took Fosomax, my sciatica and joint pain worsened to the point where I couldn't sleep since almost any position hurt and could not get into or out of chairs, cars, bed, etc without help. This was especially bad for the 2-21/2 days after taking a weekly 35 dose. When I looked at the manufacturer's info or asked my Dr., the only answer I got was that muscle pain occured in 4.1% of perople taking it. My Dr. acted as though I must be exaggerating, but it has happened every time for about a year now. I am thinking of stopping this medication, but am really afraid to after seeing both grandmothers and my mother suffer much injury and pain due to osteoporosis. I had a hysterectomy at 40 and stopped hormone therapy when most others did after the HRT scare. | F | 49 | 1 years | 10/22/2004 | 1 | osteopenia | I have hand and foot osteoarthritis. The first time taking 70mg debilitated me like an old woman - pain to walk or move for a day. Weeks following I experienced a variety of muscle pain and weakness especially wrists, forearms (pain and dropping things). After 3 months I started to have major cramping in larger muscles in my thighs. Right from the beginning I attributed these symptoms to side effects of fosamax. Final blow was unrelenting bone pain in the chest and rib area, close to site of radiation therapy 5 years ago for breast cancer. This happened the day after taking the fosamax. I quit taking the drug. | I kept questioning my doctors and a physiotherapist about the pain I was experiencing. All of these professionals looked up the side effects and nowhere was this stated to be a common side effect of fosamax YET MOST PEOPLE IN THIS RATINGS SITE ARE REPORTING SIMILAR SYMPTOMS !! The drug company must be more accountable. | F | 58 | 4 months | 10/22/2004 | 1 | osteoporosis | Terrible joint pain especially in ankles. I took fosamax for about 5 months before I figured out that it may be the cause of my joint pain. At times my joints got so bad that I couldn't walk. As soon as I stopped taking the drug, my legs started feeling better and they continue to improve. Where before I was taking pain medication multiple times per day, I now only need it occassionally and I'm hopeful that I can stop altogether sometime soon. | M | 48 | 5 months | 10/28/2004 | 5 | Bone loss | None | Bone loss has been abated. Have excellent growth...75%. Will soon be done. | F | 71 | 1.5 years | 10/30/2004 | 3 | Osteoporosis | Stomach pain, bloating, diarhea, heartburn. Black spots in eye. | I've been taking this for 11 months and am thinking of stopping due to the side effects. It has helped my back pain, but is it worth the price of damage to the rest of my body? Not sure. | F | 51 | 11 months | 11/1/2004 | 1 | Osteopenea | Because I have a slight build, had a hysterectomy at age 39 and have recently stopped taking 1.25 mg Premarin daily for 25 years due to the HRT scare, my doctor recommended that I take Fosamax to strengthen my thinning bones. Tried it last winter and began to have stomach/ intenstinal cramping, etc. He recommended I try it again. In June, I began taking Fosamax (4 tabs once a week). Thought everything was OK, BUT did not realize that my right shoulder probs and my aching joints were a direct result of taking Fosamax. My shoulder joint escalated into an acute bursitis and now feels lock up. I feel like I'm 85 years old - it hurts to bend down, I'm stiff and sometimes can't get back up. I'm normally fit and relatively agile for my age. | I was blaming my asthma medications, but after reading all these comments, I am convinced that Fosamax is not good for my body!! Will STOP today. Thank you for providing this web site. | F | 60 | 4.5 months | 11/1/2004 | 3 | Osteopenia | I have experienced random spells of major dizziness and they have occurred while I have been sitting down, which I found rather strange and somewhat scary. I'm not sure if this is related to Fosamax. The longer I am on Fosamax the more I notice I am dealing with some nausea, but it isn't anything I can't deal with. I have also noticed that my legs and toes | So far I am able to deal with the side effects I am noticing, so long as dizziness does not occur while I am driving. I don't know if I can really speak for most people taking Fosamax considering my age, I just wonder if anyone else has experienced the | F | 21 | 2 months | 11/4/2004 | 3 | Osteopenia | I have experienced random spells of major dizziness and they have occurred while I have been sitting down, which I found rather strange and somewhat scary. I should have known - never trust any kind of drugs! Unfortunately too many doctors do.... | Just read Gillian Sanson s THE MYTH OF OSTEOPOROSIS (What Every Woman Should Know About Creating Bone Health) - 2003 Edition. You will never touch FOSAMAX, guaranteed | F | 57 | 6 days | 11/5/2004 | 2 | osteopenia | I have taken Fosamax for three years and my recent bone density test showed that I am now in normal range. However, my whole body hurts! We bought a new mattress set because my back hurt so much every morning, but that didn't help. Recently, my wrists have been so painful and my hands have no strength. I can hardly sit down and then have a hard time standing again, because my knees hurt. The muscles in my legs and arms are also sore. Today, I finally went to the doctor and told him that I felt very sorry for myself with all the aches and pains. He decided that perhaps the Fosamax could be causing the problem and has told me to stop taking it for four weeks. After visiting this website, I am starting to think that this may indeed be the problem. | F | 59 | 3 years | 11/8/2004 | 2 | osteoporosis | I started taking Fosamax at 38years, I am now 50 through all of this time I have suffered in silence with shocking joint and muscle pain. For whatever reason today 12 years later have searched the side effects and read other postings. I burst into tears and as I type this I am crying. I think out of relief that I my not be as old as I feel. I will stop taking this drug imediately. I am so sore all the time, and I do believe that I have the same pain as all you others. I will take my chances with my bones. Thank-you all for your input, if it wasnt for you all I may still be suffering. Why had it become sudenly so symptomatic?? under Fosamax I blamed it on every thing except the medication. After 3 steroïd infiltrations of the cyst, I am doing farely well but seam to have a recurence of the pain with one Actonel. | It is only a suspicion but maybe these drugs by working on bones in the area caused the cyst to be blocked... it is my understanding that the fluid in the cyst could ciculate until perhaps it was entrapped causing great pressure on the nerve. | F | 63 | 3 days | 11/9/2004 | 1 | Osteoporosis | My legs and hips ache incredibly, also noticed this morning I have swollen eyes with very dark marks in the corners, terible heartburn, may re-think taking it | F | 55 | 7 days | 11/12/2004 | 1 | Bone loss | eye pain, eye infection, vitreous detachment, increased eye pressure, glaucoma | F | 55 | 2 weeks | 11/20/2004 | 1 | for bones | sore throat problems swolling swelling in my feet aND HANDS STOMACHE BAD | F | 60 | 2 days | 11/23/2004 | 2 | Low bone density | Extreme hip pain. | I have now stopped taking and while the pain is decreasing, I do still have the pain after having been off the medication for 2 months. | F | 50 | 6 months | 11/27/2004 | 2 | osteopenia | not many just twice terrible stomach pain | Taken this drug for 3 years. We humans think we're so smart, but we don't understand all the variables we are messing with. | F | 59 | 4.5 months | 12/10/2004 | 2 | osteopenia and osteoporosis | In addition to lower back pain and muscle weakness in legs, I have noticed recently that I have developed bony growths in my fingers. Also I developed something in my mouth called Torus Mandibularis, which is a bony growth in my lower jaw. I'm just wondering if these bony growths have been caused by the FOSAMAX, since Fosamax encourages new bone growth. Reading all the reactions from people on this site, makes me scared to continue using this drug. I have had some minor improvement in my bone scan, but I wonder what the long term side effects are that are yet undiscovered. | I wonder if anyone else has had bony growths on their hands or inside their mouths? | F | 56 | 17 months | 12/14/2004 |
