5 | perimenopause and moods | none. | just make sure you take progesterone at least 10days per month. Don't do the dot alone. Can cause uterine overgrowth and maybe cancer. | M | 48 | 4 years | 11/15/2008 | 5 | Hysterectomy | none | I just started the dot. I was previously taking permarin for about 6 years now. I was afraid to try something new but I finally worked up the nerve to try it. I hope everything goes well. I like it so far. Has anyone had a problems with weight gain or headaches? | M | 34 | 1 weeks | 12/21/2008 | 5 | low estrogen - menopause | If I changed the patch only twice a week then I experienced migraines on day 3 of patch as the estrogen wore off. By changing the patch 3 times a week my estrogen level stayed steady and stopped the migraines from coming. | Started on the Vivelle-dot. Switched to the Sandoz generic version. Sandoz is the generic pharmaceutical division of Novartis (who makes the vivelle dot). It is the same patch and is made in the same facility as the vivelle dot. | M | 2 years .1mg 3X W | 5/28/2017 | 5 | Only side effect is that patch gathers lint around sides but it is a necessary evil in order to get estrogen into my body. I take the medicine for gender affriming hormone therapy (GAHT). Basically I was I was born a female. | M | 50 | 12 months TWO 0.1mg 2X W | 5/29/2022 | 5 | Early onset of menopause | Eliminated night sweats and headaches. Completely awakened my sexual desire which was a fun bonus. I am not sure if it's helped with insomnia because I now wake up every 3 hours to touch myself. Not complaining! Also very very very intense orgasms. | Free your schedule by day 3 taking this and enjoy the ride. | F | 35 | 7 days .1 mg 2X W | 8/21/2023 | 5 | HRT | None | After using the brand name for many years, I recently started using the generics. Three months of the Mylan brand and for a month now on Sandoz. Both generic brands have worked just as well as Vivelle-Dot. Only reason I like the Mylan brand more is because they made the rigid protective liner larger than the patch. Makes it easier to remove from the patch from the liner. | F | 57 | 7 years .0375 2X W | 7/31/2016 | 5 | HRT | If you experience itching and irritation where the patch is, squirt a little Flonase (or similar nasal allergy spray) on the area and let dry prior to putting on the patch. I had terrible itching from the patch and this solved the problem for me. | F | 57 | 6 years .0375 2X W | 7/25/2016 | 5 | Hot Flashes menopause symptoms | none | amazing just amazing. I can sleep, no hot flashes, sex life again and less pain in my body. I will say that I got a refill once at Walmart that did not work. Their Generic caused me breast pain and moodiness. Went back to Meijer to get their generic and back to awesome. | F | 53 | 6 months 0.0375 2X W | 1/22/2018 | 5 | No side effects - I feel great and have lots of engery. | F | 64 | 14 years 1.0mg | 5/16/2019 | 5 | Post hysterectomy mood swings hot flashes | A little dizziness in the mornings, possible weight gain, but have been over eating since Thanksgiving | This patch gave me my life back! After 4 hours I felt calm and happy, in love with husband. I've had low or no libido for 10 years. Had hysterectomy 6 months ago. Decreases asthma. Hot flashes which started 2 years ago are gone. I love this patch. .05 mg on a 130 pound, 5 foot 2 woman is the right dose for me. Lower dose made me irritable, bloated and brought on asthma. Careful with coffee or chocolate, it seems to over stimulate me, more than before. | F | 54 | 3 months .05 | 1/8/2020 | 5 | had a hysterectomy | None except the larger patches were making the area sore so went to dot. No issues. | I would recommend this to anyone for hot flashes or early hysterctomy . | F | 68 | 10 years 1MG 2 wk. | 1/25/2015 | 5 | had a hysterectomy | None except the larger patches were making the area sore so went to dot. No issues. | I would recommend this to anyone for hot flashes or early hysterctomy . | F | 68 | 10 years 1MG 2 wk. | 1/25/2015 | 5 | Hot flashes | some stomach bloating | Had to take a progesterone with it | F | 59 | 6 months .025 1X day | 10/25/2014 | 5 | hysterectomy | No side effects that I am aware of. | Have tried about everything since I was 26 years old and had a hysterectomy. I feel the best on this. Highly recommend it over pills. I have learned that estrogen is needed to deal with every day stress. Without it, I would even cry at sad commercials -- which is so not like me. | F | 58 | 5 years | 7/12/2005 | 5 | Perimenopausal symptoms | Breast tenderness and fullness, very minor weight gain which feels more like bloating. | I was having troublesome hot-flashes at night, sleeping problems, very low sex drive and generally feeling angry at the world. After a week on Vivelle-Dot (0.025 mg) I started feeling much better. I hope the breast tenderness goes away! It seems to ebb and flow which makes me wonder if my body is still cycling. No periods, but I do have a Mirena IUD as well. | F | 47 | 2 months | 8/25/2008 | 5 | Peri-menopause | Follow-up from 8-2008: Was having breast tenderness and bloating for several months, but it went away completely. | If you are thinking about stopping because of side-effects, stick it out. I really feel great now and it was worth waiting it out. Took about 6 months to really settle down. Now I have no perimenopausal symptoms, no period (Mirena IUD) and am very happy with this combination! | F | 48 | 1 years | 6/1/2009 | 5 | hysterectomy | None other than occasional skin irritation. | Vivelle dot helped more than any of the other hormone replacement. Much better than Climara. I also use RX progesterone and testosterone creams. | F | 51 | 4 years | 6/15/2009 | 5 | hormone replacement | None- it's great. | It's small and has the best adhesive- it's the only patch that I've tried that stays on with sweating from exercise, swimming, etc. | F | 50 | 3 years | 9/13/2009 | 5 | Peri-Menopausal Hormone Replacement | Some headache, bloating and breast tenderness at first, but that's gone now. | This little .0375 mg. patch in combination with 100mg. daily Prometrium has quite simply given me my life back. Good-bye drastic mood changes, uncontrollable crying, crippling anxiety, brain fog, insomnia, constant daily headache, agonizing 6-9 day migraines, blast furnace hot flashes, dizziness, hair loss, and probably a few other things I've blissfully now forgotten. It took me two years of trial and error to arrive at this particular combination of hormone replacement. I tried a variety of estrogen/progestin formulations, including creams, gels, pills, even Yasmin, but Vivelle Dot (paired with Prometrium) is by far the best. I feel better now that I have in many years. | F | 47 | 6 months | 11/15/2009 | 5 | total hysterectomy 2 years ago | After my hysterectomy I went 2 years with no hormones. Couldnt take the weight gain hot flashes sore joints, insomnia, and depression any longer. Started vivelle dot 3 weeks ago. Wow!! I have a life again. I sleep like a teenager and Im happy again. I have already lost some belly fat and 5pounds and my joints are less painful. Probably because I can sleep again. Went from about 8 hot flashes a day to about 1 per week. Thank you thank you thank you vivelle dot. | F | 48 | 3 weeks 025 | 9/25/2013 |
VIVELLE-DOT (ESTRADIOL): This medication is a female hormone (estrogen). It is used by women to help reduce symptoms of menopause (such as hot flashes, vaginal dryness). These symptoms are caused by the body making less estrogen. If you are using this medication to treat symptoms only in and around the vagina, products applied directly inside the vagina should be considered before medications that are taken by mouth, absorbed through the skin, or injected. This medication may also be used by women who are not able to produce enough estrogen (for example, due to hypogonadism, primary ovarian failure). Certain estrogen products may also be used by women after menopause to prevent bone loss (osteoporosis). However, there are other medications (such as raloxifene, bisphosphonates including alendronate) that are also effective in preventing bone loss and may be safer. These medications should be considered for use before estrogen treatment. FDA Approval Date: 1999-01-08 (Sources: U.S. Centers for Medicare Services, FDA)
