| 4 | Migraines | Soda/Pop or any carbonated drink taste so horrific i literally gag anytime I take a drink of one. I have lost some weight! Less of an appetite which is great because my Seroquel for sleep makes me hungry ALOT. | I was suffering with horrific migraines almost daily for months. Now I may get a headache but nothing like what I get without the Topamax! I definitely am glad my doctor recommended this medication! | F | 26 | 8 days 100mg 2X day | 10/17/2020 | 4 | Binge eating | The first couple of days I took Topamax, I didn't take the pills with food (my mistake) and I experienced blurred vision, balance issues, tingling in my hands and thighs, extremely tired, and was overall very nauseous. Once I started taking the pills with food and making sure to drink plenty of water, I have noticed the vision side effects getting better as has the tingling. The tingling is still happening, though not as bad. What has gotten worse is the nausea and persistent upper respiratory issues. I was feeling so sick with a low grade fever, my throat was sore, congested, and I had started to develop a serious gag reflex when brushing my teeth. I went to urgent care and all my tests came back negative. I went to an ENT, everything looked fine. Primary said it was potentially just the Topamax. The Topamax has been so incredibly successful in aiding my binge eating that I'm going to stick with it for now. I used to eat 3-4000 calories a day in fast food and since I've started this drug I haven't had fast food once. I have existing cognitive impairments from a stroke such as aphasia,confusion,word retrieval and brain fog but it is manageable and I have adjusted to it's limitations over the past two years...Taking Topamax for 14 days turned me into a cognitive Zombie with the side effects I listed above to the degree that I literally existed with the memory of a goldfish for 14 days in a state of confusion. On top of that my appetite disappeared completely, I had to force myself to eat one small sandwich a day and I'm a 6ft. 220lb.man. I called to ask the half life and was told by the pharmacist it is 21 hours and that technically most of the drug should be out of my system by now as it it Sunday night and I took the last dose on Thursday night. I only took this drug for TWO days, a 25 mg tab on Wednesday evening and a 25 mg tab on Thursday evening at bedtime and I feel like I'm dying. I have never had such a horrendous reaction to a drug. For the first six years, it seemed to work well in assisting with my constant moods swings, and made it easier to sleep well at night...however, afier my second child was born, I started feeling worse than ever, and my eyesight declined rapidly until I got bifocals....I still took it, but my vision worsend even more, and I became very depressed and felt very unwell, until I finally weaned off of it a few years ago, and remained on perphenazine and escitalopram, (and levothyroxine) in combination with omega 3 fish oil, a multivitamin, and magnesium, which helped tremendously,.
