Her symptoms prior to prevacid included choking, projectile vomiting, etc. I could not put her down on her back (even to change her diaper or put her in her swing) without her choking. Drug is addictive ,so you will get rebound when you stop. She would not nap all day long, thought it was just her personality. THis went on until she was about 4 months old. I kept her on Prevacid until she was a year old then switched to Zantac. Never knowing that it was causing her any side effects! (Babies can't talk). I just had another baby and she too has acid reflux, spits up alot and fussy but she still napped about 5-7 hours a day. At 5 weeks the doctor put her on Prevacid and within two days of taking it she was not napping, acting very fussy just like her older sister did 3 years ago. I took her off the prevacid and within one day was back to her normal napping routine. I called the doctor and asked if this could be related to the prevacid and they told me to UP the dosage! There was no way I am was going to continue giving it to her. I have to trust my instincts. I think Prevacid causes alot of stomach pain and constipation in infants. PREVACID (LANSOPRAZOLE): Lansoprazole is used to treat certain stomach and esophagus problems (such as acid reflux, ulcers). It works by decreasing the amount of acid your stomach makes. It relieves symptoms such as heartburn, difficulty swallowing, and persistent cough. This medication helps heal acid damage to the stomach and esophagus, helps prevent ulcers, and may help prevent cancer of the esophagus.
