CLIMARA  (ESTRADIOL):  This medication is a female hormone (estrogen). It is used by women to help reduce symptoms of menopause (such as hot flashes, vaginal dryness). These symptoms are caused by the body making less estrogen. If you are using this medication to treat symptoms only in and around the vagina, products applied directly inside the vagina should be considered before medications that are taken by mouth, absorbed through the skin, or injected. This medication may also be used by women who are not able to produce enough estrogen (for example, due to hypogonadism, primary ovarian failure). Certain estrogen products may also be used by women after menopause to prevent bone loss (osteoporosis). However, there are other medications (such as raloxifene, bisphosphonates including alendronate) that are also effective in preventing bone loss and may be safer. These medications should be considered for use before estrogen treatment.   FDA Approval Date: 1994-12-22 (Sources: U.S. Centers for Medicare Services, FDA)

4  Anxiety, vaginal atrophy At times it seems to lose its effectiveness. I am not sure if it is because I received a defective lot or there is some other reason. I receive 3 boxes of 4 patches at a time from my pharmacy, and by the time I start the patches in the 3rd box, I notice symptoms of anxiety creeping back again. I seriously do not know if it is due to a patch issue or something else. Also, I have also experienced some patches not sticking on as well as if the medicated adhesive has dried up and maybe I received a bad lot. Frustrating. 3.5 Climara helps but not consistently F 60 0 days

5  Taken after total hysterectomy I haven’t had any unpleasant side effects I I started the dose @ .05 weekly. Reduced to .025 after a few years. I find if you open the patch and let it sit sticky side up for about 15 min before applying, the patch sticks better and doesn’t create any kind of irritation F 65 15 years

1  HRT - can't get estradot patches Ist patch had my abdomen red and inflamed within hours of application. Fell off after 2 days. 2nd patch has left red welt around edge of patch - fell off in shower after 2nd day. Hot flushes are returning. Would not recommend this product. The patch is huge compared to Estradot patches. These patches don't stay on. Have caused irritation to my skin. Not a very practical patch. Must have been designed by someone who thinks menopausal women shouldn't have an active life, shower or swim as it falls off so easily. Overall would never recommend this patch. F 53 6 days

1  Hot flushes and menopause symptoms The sticker gets FILTHY after only a few hours, no matter where you put the patch. I have not been on it for a week yet today I noticed that where the previous patches were, the skin is peeling off and discoloured. This is UNACCEPTABLE as where are you meant to put the patches during the summer when you wear togs. It has caused breakthrough bleeding, bloating, cramps. My pharmacist substituted this from Estradot due to difficulty obtaining it. I went back to my GP and got a different form of HRT. My OB/GYN put me on these wretched things whereas my GP was happy for me to continue with the pills. I will be going back on the pills asap. F 52 4 weeks

3  Debilitating hot flashes and sweats Racing Heart, high levels of anxiety, sleeplessness, loss of appetite at first it was amazing. The hot flashes went away after about a week, but now I am jittery, super anxious and had a heavy period after not menstrating for over a year. Thinking I should come off but not sure if I should just remove. F 53 6 weeks

3  Low estrogen menopause symptoms Racing heart, sweating, nervousness, congestion high blood pressure.. hoping these symptoms will resolve once my body adjusts to it. Last night I was up all night sweating in freaking out. I feel great during the day now, wonderful mood. The leg cramps and burning mouth are lowered to a bearable level. The high blood pressure throbbing pulse and sweating concerns me. I took this drug because my estrogen is so low and giving me the worst cramps in the evening like my whole body is trying to give birth. That pain has been reduced tremendously but now I'm getting night sweats and hot flashes all night long. It seems to be every other night not every single night. F 46 3 days

I experienced burning headaches, raised BP, burning pain down back of arms, burning surge across top of head, numbness to bottom lip. removed patch and all symptoms have gone..wont be using again. In the years ive used this product I have gained 20 kilo and have found it impossible to loose this weight. Have tried everything...that always worked to remove weight...it just kept going up...hopefully now I have thrown them in the bin I will regain my health and sanity. F 63 3 years

I never had hot flashes but count yourself blessed if that is all you had! I broke my ankle in 2 places 2 years ago and still cant walk! I could go on and on but I really just wanted to come on and say look up Menopause Barbie on youtube. She is a GYN who can answer all of your questions! F 55

5  Hot flashes, vaginal dryness Have been using the patch for 13 months. After the first week all my symptoms began to get better and ultimately completely went away..hot flashes, vaginal dryness, moodiness, headaches, body aches, mental fogginess..I had every symptom possible. I began experiencing spotting for 3 days the past two months and had a vaginal ultrasound today which showed I have a thickening of my uterine lining. So I’m stopping use of the patch for 2 weeks in hopes of shedding the existing lining. If it’s still there will have a D&C and biopsy. My Dr doesn’t think it’s “C” and believes the 2 week break will take care of the thickening and I can go back to using the patch 🙏🏽 F 54 13 months
