| 1 | Pre diabetic | I started this medicine a few months ago because of A1c was 5.7. It made me tired and just not feel good. Dr said stop for 3 months and recheck labs. Felt better but decided to start again because afraid labs would be bad. I've taken it for about 3 weeks now and I an depressed foggy no energy and leg pain. Took my last one this morning. I experienced depression, weakness, suicidal thoughts, and then started having problems with my period which my gyno said had nothing to do with this. Then I had to have a biopsy and tests because even though I wasn't having a period my endometrial lining was still building up. Turns out there are studies on this and papers written, but when I told my doctor this she dismissed it. So glad I discovered what was causing my pain and lack of joy in my life. GLUCOPHAGE (METFORMIN HYDROCHLORIDE): Metformin is used with a proper diet and exercise program and possibly with other medications to control high blood sugar. It is used in patients with type 2 diabetes. Controlling high blood sugar helps prevent kidney damage, blindness, nerve problems, loss of limbs, and sexual function problems. Proper control of diabetes may also lessen your risk of a heart attack or stroke. Metformin works by helping to restore your body's proper response to the insulin you naturally produce.
