| 3 | post op hernia pain | upset stomach, but tolerable | I switched to aleve a couple days after surgery. The percocet (narcotic) turned my stools into golf balls. Not good for a post op hernia patient. Aleve took the edge off the pain. I have a gastric ulcer, so any NSAID is rough, but not as bad as straining from narcotics. The next day I was fine but did not take my usual morning aleve pill. The next day I took one Aleve before leaving for work. On my drive to work, my hand started itching and turning red. Then my arms and legs started itching. Looked in the mirrow and saw my neck and chest were beet red. Turned around and drove straight to doctor. By the time I arrived at doctor, I was itching all over my body and it was completely unbearable. My arms were swollen into huge welps and my body itched all over. He gave me a shot of prednisone and 2 shots of adreneline. Thankfully, the itching subsided. After reading the postings on this site and read | Do not take this drug. Swelling and hives developed on wrists and arms - VERY uncomfortable. It DID help, and I was grateful, but after a week of taking it, my scalp started feeling strange, tingling, and then just darn itchy. Then, after a couple of days of that, I woke one morning and took my last dosage of it and within minutes, I started getting red splotches on my neck, then my neck and ears turned deep red like a severe sunburn. I quickly took two Benedryl (which the emergency room doctor later said was extremely wise that I did so) and told my husband we needed to get to the emergency room because something bad was happening. While I dressed to go, the redness spread, then hives started popping out, all over, and the worst itching of my life began, like fire ants crawling all over me and biting me again and again. By the time we got to the hospital (less than five minutes later), the redness, hives, and itching were on EVERY inch of my body, even my feet and breasts -- everywhere and my scalp felt like I ha | NEVER, EVER, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES TAKE THIS DRUG!!! It is NOT worth the risk!!! There is no doubt that this drug reduced my back pain, but this drug should NOT be on the market consdering the huge amount of people reporting deadly side effects! It is just NOT worth the risk and SHAME ON ITS MAKERS FOR LEAVING IT ON THE MARKET!!!
