LOVENOX (PRESERVATIVE FREE)  (ENOXAPARIN SODIUM):  Enoxaparin is used to prevent and treat harmful blood clots. This helps to reduce the risk of a stroke or heart attack. This medication helps keep your blood flowing smoothly by lowering the activity of clotting proteins in the blood. Enoxaparin is an anticoagulant, also known as a "blood thinner." It is a type of heparin. Conditions which increase your risk of developing blood clots include certain types of surgeries (such as knee/hip replacement, abdominal), long periods of being immobile, certain types of heart attack, and a specific type of chest pain called unstable angina. For some medical conditions, enoxaparin may be used in combination with other "blood thinners."   FDA Approval Date: 2000-06-02 (Sources: U.S. Centers for Medicare Services, FDA)

5  blood clotting disorder - pregnancy pain during injection, bruising, occasional knots under injection site i have not had any additional side effects whatsoever and don't think i was even aware that there were any likely "extra" side effects besides the injection issues. i took this my entire first pregnancy without complication as well, and was so very grateful for it since it allowed me a successful pregnancy unlike earlier miscarriages.  5  Lupus anticoagulant syndrome Burning, itching, bruising, lumps at injection site. I dry the alcohol at the site with a hair dryer before the injection and that seems to help. 9 weeks into a very small dose of estrogen (HRT), I had permanent vision loss due to a central retinal artery occlusion. Much testing revealed high levels of lupus anticoagulant antibodies. I fall a lot because I've lost my depth perception and that leads to bruising, but the bruising isn't outrageous on the lovenox. Supposedly I'll be on the lovenox for life. F 50 2 months
120mg 1X day

5  left ovarian thrombosis bruising, stinging when injecing, some bleeding when injecting, some headaches and grumpiness. I developed left ovarian thrombosis post-partum and was in the hospital twice. We did a second CT after 30 days and found a significant reduction in size but are continuing the shots twice daily for another 30 days with another CT to make sure that the clot is completely gone.  5  Pregnancy Headaches (cured by walking & eating ice chips), bruising, & hard knots at the injection site I lost my first child & if I would not have been admitted for a rare blood disorder than I may have lost the present baby due to blood clots; the doctor's found the 2 mutated genes for blood clots and immediately put me on the injection of 70 & I am alive again...I am able to walk for almost an hour, work a full shift and eat. My fiance administers the shot and yes it does hurt, but I love not having to worry about loosing my son F 29 3 weeks

5  DVT in right leg Mild bruising at injection sites; burning sensation after injection; lethargic; lack of normal appetite; muscular throbbing/aching in chest and back I have had two DVTs in the past two years. Currently on coumadin, which I love. No side effects. During my second DVT I was on Lovenox for almost 8 weeks and felt horrible. I am looking to get pregnant in the next year and fearful of the side effects from lovenox again. My dr. recommended Fragmin could be an alternative, but I can't find much about this drug and if it will cause the same side effects as the lovenox. F 32 8 weeks

5  FVL MTHFR pregnancy occasional pain/stinging at injection site, bruising, nausea when upping the dose This was a relatively easy way to treat my blood clotting disorder during pregnancy/postpartum. No monitoring needed, which was nice, although it is very expensive. No problems with delivery - stopped the shots 24 hours before an induction and was on them again twelve hours after delivery.  5  Postpartum DVT I don't know if it was encouraged but became mildly depressed as well as postpartum anxiety which I am still experiencing. I was on 60 mg twice a day, I experienced some severe bruising as well as hard fluid collections under the skin (those took several months to subside.) If I choose to have another child I will probably be on lovenox the entire pregnancy. F 33 12 weeks

5  DVT right calf EXPENSIVE and pain at injection site for a few minutes. That's about it. Am currently transitioning over to Coumadin and am having major side effects from that. Lovenox is such an easier alternative, I will miss it, my insurance won't cover it anymore ;( Been on it for 6 months, 1st few weeks really seemed like a pain and literally was painful. But I got used to it quickly and doesn't bother me at all now. Gives me great relief to not have to worry about clots anymore. F 38 6 months

5  Antiphospholipid Syndrome Brusing, nose bleeds, headaches, pain at injection site, nausea, decreased bone density, I take this medication twice a day everyday and have been for a little over 2 years.. At times it can be very painful but it has saved my life!! I couldn't remain theraputic with coumadin and continued to get clots.. so this was a last resort!! It's the only medication that has kept my disease from progressing.. F 21 2 years

5  DVT Bruising at injection sites; some injection sites have hard area; tiredness which may be from decreased activity due to DVT; Leg had swollen to bursting point when doctor started lovenox injections. Pain intensity began dropping overnight. Swelling is down considerably after 20 days of injections. Added oral Coumadin over past 2 weeks. Don't care for the injections but I think this drug saved my life and prevented a PE. F 61 20 days

5  Pregnancy So far I have experienced some burning after injection and some large bruising (not alot) and knots. I have had 2 normal pregnancies and then a third one ended in a 17 wk. miscarriage. They discovered I have Antiphospholipid Syndrome. I am at 15 wks now and have beed taking the shots for almost 30 days. So far, I have had a couple of really bad bruises and some burning at injection site. Burning has gotten increasingly better. Definitely helps to release the air before giving the shot. Overall, I hate having to give myself shots, but it is well worth it and so far is going well. F 28 30 days

5  Pregnancy; H/O Stroke Pain & swelling at injection site, bruising Thank you lovenox! After 8 miscarriages, they figured out I have Antiphosolipid syndrome and I am currently 13 weeks with my baby. Numb the injection site first and it makes the injection far more bearable. We also found that taking the air out decreased the pain drastically! F 32 1 years

5  pregnancy I have a burning sore throat, off and on every day for 3 wks, with a metallic taste and wonder if this is from the lovenox since I'm not taking anything else. The injections are easy, only bruise occasionally. F 35 1 months
