| 4 | thrombosis | M | 21 | 8 months | 1/9/2003 | 5 | DVT's | bruising, bleeding, whelts, chills | It would be more usefull in pill, liquid, transdermal, or form other than injection. | M | 43 | 3 months | 7/9/2004 | 3 | leg clot | my stomach became very sore from all the needles and some of the lumps are still there 3 years later | needs to be in tablet form | M | 42 | 3 months | 12/17/2004 | 4 | blood clot following resection | very sore stomach | Need to be put in pill form! the medice worked! | M | 6 months | 4/1/2005 | 4 | blood clot following resection | very sore stomach | Need to be put in pill form! The medcine worked! | M | 48 | 6 months | 4/1/2005 | 5 | Pregnant/over clotting disorder | terrible bruising, pain when injecting | It's wonderful, I wouldn't be able to have children with out it | F | 26 | 9 months | 4/28/2005 | 5 | pregnancy | I found Lovenox to bruise a lot less than Heparin which I found unbearable. Heparin left huge bruises and when you're taking two a day you run out of room quickly. I thought the Lovenox stung more but the decrease in bruising was well worth it. I'm taking it again while on Depot Lupron therapy and its only for two weeks. I am tired of it already! | 9 Months 2 Weeks | F | 41 | | 7/14/2005 | 5 | Pregnancy | The needles on the prepackaged were so dull! We started using a fine gauge insulin needle/syringe and drastically reduced the injection pain and the bruising. | 9 months, 2 weeks | F | 41 | | 7/14/2005 | 3 | blood clot in left leg | sore stomach and arms, knots formed whenever i bumped into anything | helped prevent further blood clots but very sore after 1 month | F | 15 | 10 months | 10/17/2005 | 4 | ADVANCED FACTOR V LEIDEN, DVT & PE | AWFUL BRUISING AROUND INJECTION SITE. COLD SWEATS. ABDOMINAL PAIN. | LONG TERM EFFECTS INCLUDE OSTHIOPEROSIS...AND THAT IS BOTHERSOME BECAUSE I AM A LIFER ON THIS DRUG. | M | 35 | 1.5 years | 12/9/2005 | 3 | DVT & Pulmonary Embolism | Severe leg and abdominal muscle cramps; lumps at injection site; pain from injections | The injections are just too much of a hassle, and at some injection sites, the fat breaks down and hardened spots on the abdomen result. Also, I've awaken with severe leg cramps that remain sore for days. Also, lots of bruising. I tried Coumadin but because of extensive business travel couldn't regulate very well. | M | 48 | 10 months | 3/27/2006 | 2 | For pre and post surgery | I took this due to having to get off Coumadin for surgery. They made me feel depressed and sluggish. The skin on my face became drier than normal, and I had some flaky skin. | M | 35 | 7 days | 4/17/2006 | 5 | pregnancy | I have a burning sore throat, off and on every day for 3 wks, with a metallic taste and wonder if this is from the lovenox since I'm not taking anything else. The injections are easy, only bruise occasionally. | F | 35 | 1 months | 1/3/2007 | 1 | knee replacement surgery | I went into anaphylactic shock on this drug! I had at least 2 seizures, and nearly died. It began with nightmares, then seizure; water standing on my body, trouble breathing; loss of bladder control; milk and coffee tasted thick as syrup; metallic taste; weakness/faintness; fading of vision/light. | For me, this is a very dangerous drug. My doctor had only been using it for 2 months,(I suspect by way of 'incentives' from drug company), and because it was a holiday weekend, he was unavailable to treat me or to tell me to get off the drug. | F | 68 | 5 days | 2/22/2007 | 4 | DVT Right Leg | Abdomen @ point of injection site bruses and hurts for a long peroid of time. Very sore abdomen. | Doc at hospital suggested drug and to have me self inject myself due to my age and rather good health. I broke my knee and ended up with blood clot. I am still taking injections and it seams to be working OK but very painful after you inject. Pain is a 5 to 6 at times on a scall of 10. | M | 46 | 7 days | 5/4/2007 | 4 | History of 2 DVTs | slight bruising around injection site | I was originally put on Lovenox as a "bridge" until my Coumadin (warfarin) levels were therapeutic - but my INR never was correct, so they've kept me on Lovenox. I admit, the daily shots can seem daunting, but it's better than dealing with coumadin and getting bloodwork everyweek to determine if the drug is actually working. This is so much easier - two shots a day and you're money! | F | 26 | 6 months | 6/9/2007 | 5 | Pregnancy; H/O Stroke | Pain & swelling at injection site, bruising | Thank you lovenox! After 8 miscarriages, they figured out I have Antiphosolipid syndrome and I am currently 13 weeks with my baby. Numb the injection site first and it makes the injection far more bearable. We also found that taking the air out decreased the pain drastically! | F | 32 | 1 years | 6/21/2007 | 4 | PE near Heart and Clotting disorder | Some pain with injection in the beginning. Now none. | This drug has really been a godsend for me. I took warfarin for 2 years and never was able to achieve level due to kidney disease. In that time I also suffered multiple bone infracts. Now all that has cleared and All I have to do is give myself a shot daily. I'm happy | F | 26 | 8 months | 7/6/2007 | 1 | knee surgery | Have had two open heart surgeries to replace the aorta valve. Last surgery in 2005, and have been on Coumadin since 1968 with no problems. Scheduled for knee surgery and cardiologist prescribed Lovenox. Questioned this since have never had to use it before, but was told it's to prevent clots which can occur with knee/hip surgeries. Took first injection had a mild headache - which was unusual since I don't get headaches often. Next shot, the headache continued so I called cardiologist who said it wasn't from the med. Had headache every day..... end result - had brain surgery to remove large amounts of blood. No one listened and no one cared. Be loud, be verbal, and insist that someone listen to you. My life has been forever changed.... and not for the better. | M | 63 | 1 weeks | 7/13/2007 | 4 | PE left lung & DVTs | Chest tightness, difficulty swallowing & breathing, sore stomach, anxiety, depression. | I didn't have shortness of breath or chest tightness until I started Lovenox. It also went away when I switched to Coumadin only. I'm thankful I could go home instead of staying in the hospital with Heparin, but I think I was a bit mislead about the potential side effects. A few times I thought I was having a heart attack only to be told by my doctor that it was nothing to worry about. It's a good drug, just know what to expect. | M | 27 | 2 weeks | 7/17/2007 | 4 | 3 bouts of DVTs & PE | Shots are painful, hard spots around my waist, but the stuff works. | Because of temperature requirements, I am limited where I can travel with lovenox. | M | 59 | 3 years | 7/20/2007 | 4 | DVT and PE | I had no problems with the injections, but a week later I am experiencing a rash or hives on my stomach - which is where I gave myself the shots. The rash is very itchy and it almost appears as if I have welts. | I am terrified of needles, but I have to say that once I got past the fear, it really wasn't a big deal. The only pain was that the medicine stings for a few minutes. The needles were very sharp. | F | 47 | 5 days | 7/27/2007 | 4 | DVT/Factor V, Protein C/S defiency | Very sore stomach, huge bruises around injection site. But I guess that is worth it when compared to the alternative (another DVT) | F | 22 | 14 days | 8/8/2007 | 4 | DVT | I have experienced headaces and migranes. I got some brusing at the injection site. I also get stompic pains along with some nausia. | I think it's a great drug. I'm not sure if the side effects are because I have so many allergies. If someone can help please let me know. Thank You | F | 45 | 3 days | 8/26/2007 | 3 | DVT & PE | Both sides are very bruised & the right side is in extreme pain to touch. I am having major anxiety to take another injection, seem to have some depression also. | Make this in pill form! I am not afraid of needles but the abdomen for injections is just not a normal site. I was only able to inject myself twice before a family member had to do it for me. I experienced much anxiety to self inject. | F | 54 | 7 days | 8/27/2007 | 3 | protein s deficiency/ PE'S AND DVT | Hard knots in stomach as large as baseballs at times.very sore stomach most of time.I'm a life longer on this drug but while being on it and asprin still had a heart attack and stroke.I also have frequent tia's. I would like to hear from someone who is a lifer and any long term effects from this drug. | F | 34 | 3 years | 9/25/2007 | 3 | IVC Filter | Have been on Lovenox for 4 yrs. after failing coumadin. After bilateral P.E.'s they put the filter in and ever since have been on anti-coags and have felt terrible with flushing, chest pain, increased sweating, heat intolerance, fatigue, diarrhea, etc.I wonder in I just shouldn't go off these blood thinners but I am afraid of the blood clots that can form around these filters. | F | 59 | 4 years | 10/4/2007 | 3 | DVT and pregnancy | I started on 100mg daily once a day and experienced chest thightness, nausea and depression. It is hard to tell if it's the medicine or the pregnancy, I didn't felt depressed and all-day nausea with my first baby, so I'm sure it's the medicine. Then they changed my dosis to 60mg twice a day and chest pain was gone, but I'm back in the 100mg dosis and the chest pain is back. | M | 32 | 30 days | 10/7/2007 | 5 | Coumadin made my hair start to fall | Some bruises on my stomach but overall I love this drug and it's benefits | F | 40 | 5 years | 11/4/2007 | 2 | DVT | I was unable to inject into stomache so injected into back of arms and into upper fatty part of thigh and am experiencing sharp shooting horrible pains down leg and arm when reach or extend just a certain angle or right after stepping out of bed in am. Also very up and down emotionally. | Any one else injected anywhere other than stomache having symptons??? No one sems to have any info for me. | F | 36 | 5 days | 11/6/2007 | 3 | "Monster" clot in surface vein | I've read all the comments to date. No one mentioned bloody urine as a side effect. On my fifth day I awoke to a toilet bowl full of what looked like beet juice! Where did that blood come from. My doctor recommended that I finish my "course' of four more injections, but I chose not to since I was also having mild stomach discomfort. After skipping the a.m. injection, by noon my urine returned to normal. Most of my injection sites developed a small bruise, but one turned into an eggplant sized and colored bruise that expanded even more as it began to fade. | F | 65 | 5 days | 11/11/2007 | 4 | BLOOD CLOT | VERY SEVERE PAIN BURNING SWELLING AND BRUISING | F | 66 | 8 days | 11/12/2007 | 2 | broken leg..had former blood clot | Nauseous, very anxious, constant low grade headaches everyday, migraines, can not sleep at night, feels like my insides are like jello, feel my heart beating in my chest. | I am on a high dose of lovenox at 80mg once a day to help prevent a blood clot in my broken leg that i had a former blood clot in years ago..I was on 80mg twice a day and i felt like i was going to die!...horrible feeling!...i dont ever see many of my side effects listed and wonder if anyone else is experiencing the same feelings i am? The doctor doesnt seem to acknowledge why i feel like this. | F | 38 | 6 weeks | 3/26/2008 | 4 | prior PE | I've been taking it for 12 days now after surgery, have to put shots in my thighs because of hysterectomy, have bruises on some injection sites, have sound in my left ear (knocking), feel wobbly sometimes right after I give myself the shot | I take the air out of the shots otherwise it burns too much, needles are very sharp, | F | 40 | 21 days | 4/3/2008 | 3 | DVT&PE | Pain & swelling at injection site, bruising, feeling very tired like getting sick, headache, possible depression | 100mg ,twice daily | M | 38 | 6 weeks | 4/15/2008 | 2 | blood clot disorder | bruising, blood taste in mouth, stinging, HEADACHES | was on coumadin but can't stay at a theraputic rate, frustrated by painful shots | F | 28 | 2 months | 4/20/2008 | 5 | Pregnancy/Factor V Leiden | bruising at injection site at first; after a couple of months I did not bruise every time; bruised more easily while pg | Compared to my previous pregnancy before my FVL diagnosis, this one was wonderful. Lovenox made all the difference and helped me have a healthy full term pregnancy this time. | F | 34 | 10 months | 4/29/2008 | 1 | gallbladder surgery | I had gallbladder surgery january 2005. I have had painful inflammation that has resulted in 40lbs of swelling on my abdomen caused by the shots. the drs dont know what to do for me. I am bed ridden and in so much pain constantly. | I have been to over 25 doctors and everyone says it cant be from the shots because it has to be out of my system but it happened immediatley after the shots and hasnt stopped. I have had so many medical problems happen i cant even list them all. when i called Lovenox..the customer service problem said yes this can happen but arent you glad you didnt get a blood clot! i was furious!! I have no life and I am only 45 | F | 45 | 5 days | 5/1/2008 | 5 | Pregnancy | So far I have experienced some burning after injection and some large bruising (not alot) and knots. | I have had 2 normal pregnancies and then a third one ended in a 17 wk. miscarriage. They discovered I have Antiphospholipid Syndrome. I am at 15 wks now and have beed taking the shots for almost 30 days. So far, I have had a couple of really bad bruises and some burning at injection site. Burning has gotten increasingly better. Definitely helps to release the air before giving the shot. Overall, I hate having to give myself shots, but it is well worth it and so far is going well. | F | 28 | 30 days | 5/22/2008 | 4 | early miscarriages | bruising, headaches | This has helped the shots be more bearable. 1. Use ICE to numb the area for 5 min prior to shot! (At times I don't even feel the shot and I don't have stinging anymore). 2. Use a tight pinch to inject. 3. Apply PRESSURE for a few minutes after the shot. 4. Put the bandaid on TIGHT. (For some reason this keeps from bruising as much. Also, if I miss the bandaid, I tend to bleed hours later after the shot was given. Hope this helps! | F | 34 | 42 weeks | 5/29/2008 | 3 | Thrombophilia and Pregnant | large bruising, stinging at injection site, hard lumps at injection site, decreased platelet count | I am on Lovenox due to FVL and FII Prothrombin. I have hx of fetal loss, PE, and DVT with first pregnancy. I am now on the Lovenox b/c I am pregnant again. If you are not pregnant, you might want to ask your doctor about "Arixtra" instead. It is a 1x daily shot instead of 2 and I had no bruising or stinging with it. It is not recommended with pregnancy though. | F | 30 | 1 months | 7/9/2008 | 4 | Pregnancy, previous DVT | Nausea, loose BM..but that could be from the Pregnancy & prenatal pills. | The shots are too bad, I have found that if I don't "rub" the injection site afterwards, that I don't bruise too badly. I gave myself a shot in the leg once and that hurt very badly! I will stick w/ the stomach shots. The needles are very very sharp! | F | 31 | 5 months | 8/5/2008 | 5 | DVT | Bruising at injection sites; some injection sites have hard area; tiredness which may be from decreased activity due to DVT; | Leg had swollen to bursting point when doctor started lovenox injections. Pain intensity began dropping overnight. Swelling is down considerably after 20 days of injections. Added oral Coumadin over past 2 weeks. Don't care for the injections but I think this drug saved my life and prevented a PE. | F | 61 | 20 days | 8/17/2008 | 5 | Antiphospholipid Syndrome | Brusing, nose bleeds, headaches, pain at injection site, nausea, decreased bone density, | I take this medication twice a day everyday and have been for a little over 2 years.. At times it can be very painful but it has saved my life!! I couldn't remain theraputic with coumadin and continued to get clots.. so this was a last resort!! It's the only medication that has kept my disease from progressing.. | F | 21 | 2 years | 8/21/2008 | 3 | Knee replacement | Feel jittery, shaky and anxious. Diarrhea. Injections are painless, minimal bruising. | I don't really know about the effectiveness of the drug. I have had other knee replacements but this is the first time I have had to use these shots. I don't have a problem with the shots, but I feel awful. I shake and feel anxious all of the time. | F | 49 | 14 days | 8/26/2008 | 4 | DVT | I developed a DVT in my R lower calf in my sleep during a long haul flight. I was now in Sydney and began with Clexane injections which it's called here Lovenox. It helped getting rid of the pain in my calf immediatly....but I adopted other symptoms which I've never had before. I'm very fit. The symptoms are:- Headaches, tiredness, sleepy, fatigue,a nasty taste in my mouth, shortness of breath, over all not feeling well and sure not feeling like myself, sweats,my body just doesn't want to move(I'm very atheletic) been on this injections HAS made a huge difference to my energy levels. At first I was OK with the injections, it was easier because your doses are correct for your body weight without having to do blood work all the time. The Dr. here in the States have just started me on Coumadin/Warfrin which I'm hoping will make me feel better even though blood work will be required 2x per week then once a week to 10 days.....neither are great but treatment is neccessary. It is very important NOT | Clexane/lovenox injectables are painful! The Dr. told me "no big deal it doesn't hurt" or "any side effects" but there is. It burns badly like a bee sting. It's not the injection or the needle part it the fluid that goes in. Let the air out first of your injection(even thought they tell us not to) it helps a lot....pinch the site/fat on your stomach and at 90 degrees injected the site then release the skin once the needle is in slowly push the fluid in. Put compression immediatetly on the site once injection is removed...if you try and walk immediatly it may really hurst even more as you can feel the fluid moving into a certain area depending how close to the hip or belly button you are, give yourself a little time....it's unpleasant! At first I was OK with it but after almost 2 months of shoots everyday my tolenrance has became lower, I have bruising with some of the shoots but usually just a spot where the injection has gone in. I did get once a very bad heamatom | F | 46 | 2 months | 8/30/2008 | 3 | PE 2 weeks after hysterectomy | pain and discoloration at injection site, hard nodules under skin, loss of energy, anxiety, loss of bladder control | I didn't suspect the lovenox as the cause of energy loss, anxiety, and bladder problems. But as soon as my course of treatment was over, two of the three cleared up. I can only hope that the third one will too! Now on Warfarin, I don't really know how effective the lovenox was. I just know I feel a whole lot better without it. | F | 59 | 2 weeks | 9/5/2008 | 4 | Factor V Leiden, PE, 3 CVTs | Very few bruises but when I do bruise they are very large, a few hard bumps, loose stool, overall weakness/fatigue, burning. To lessen the burn I inject lovenox VERY slowly (if you don't have steady hands don't try it). Sometimes the syringes aren't sharp enough and the skin is hard to puncture. My doctors did not warn me of any of the side effects prior to me starting lovenox, they just said some people have very strong reactions and some people have little to no reactions while on lovenox and never said what possible reactions were. | I was taking warfarin but never had a stable INR and developed a PE when my INR was 4.0 so I will most likely be a lovenox lifer. Compared to coumadin/warfarin I prefer lovenox because it does not have the numerous drug interactions, its pregnancy safe and doesn't require as much monitoring. Lovenox can be a much stronger anticoagulant than coumadin and isn't easily reversed if your blood is too thin (i.e You can't just take vitamin K or be given FFP like you can with coumadin if your too thin) . When taking ANY anticoag WATCH FOR SIGNS OF INTERNAL BLEEDING!!! ( Bloody urine, tarry/black stool, vomiting blood, etc.) Anyone wanting to talk PLEASE CONTACT ME. I'm heterozygous for FVL, have another blood clotting related antibody affecting me (they haven't figure out what yet), I've had a PE in my lower right lobe, 3 CVTs (superior sagittal sinus, transverse sinus and sigmoid sinus). Coumadin failed after 8 months and I'm now on lovenox. Please contact me if you want to talk, not only | F | 21 | 8 months | 9/12/2008 | 4 | DVT and Cancer | Fatigue, shortness of breath, and bruising. | The side effects are bothersome but this medicine has allowed me to take a medicine for my cancer that I would not have been able to take otherwise. I too also wish this was in pill form. | F | 48 | 2 years | 10/20/2008 | 4 | Cardio Ablasion Pre/post surgery | PAINFULL for approx. 10mins after injection!! Did not expect that!! Just took first dose. I'm sure it's doing what it's supposed to do. | M | 27 | 4 days | 10/25/2008 | 3 | Superficial Vein Clot | Bruising, pea-sized solid red to purple "dots" around the injection site. | Has anyone come across any information about consumption of alchohol while using Lovenox? I'm trying to convince my husband not to drink alcohol on Halloween, but he insists it is safe. I cannot find any research to back me up that alcohol and Lovenox (in particular) don't mix, although there are plenty of warnings about oral blood thinners (coumadin, heparin, ect.) Any help is appreciated! | F | 30 | 7 days | 10/28/2008 | 4 | Post endometrial ablation, prev PE | Headache, diarrhea. Low grade fever, probably not related to Lovenox. | I now use lovenox when flying over 2 hrs in distance, this is the first time post surgery. I have a protein S deficiency and a PE dx post partum almost 3 yrs ago. Convenient prefilled dispensing which I like compared to sub cutaneous heparin and oral coumadin, both I have done for long periods of time during and after multiple pregnancies. I use ice before doing the shot. All stomach sub cutaneous shots, I also ice afterwards if possible. Bruising minimal at best. I have woken with headaches every day of use and have had several episodes of significant diarrhea, this is the highest dose I have used at .4 vs .3. I removed the air from the chamber before injecting lovenox, but was not clear if this was necessary. Also really liked the no recapping and the needle guard that is easily engaged post shot by following the instructions. Would use this again. Easy to travel with. | F | 43 | 5 days | 11/23/2008 | 3 | ANTHITROMBIN III ,PREGNANCY | Fatigue, hurts for probably 5minutes, bruising | I just started this treatment so I can't tell if it's working yet | F | 23 | 3 days | 11/23/2008 | 3 | Heterozygous MTHFR gene mutation | low energy -- not able to run as long/fast or weight lift as much, coughing with mild congestion, decreased libido (no sex drive), loose stool, feels like having a weak bladder at times | Shots caused bruising with hard lumps (clots) under the injection site. Doctor says no danger of clots spreading into bloodstream, as they aren't that kind of clot. | F | 41 | 100 days | 12/10/2008 | 3 | Pregnancy | Low energy, extremely awful sinus congestion-my nasal passages have been swollen since I started treatment, along with nose constantly running-can't breath through nose at all(I've never had a cold this bad before), always tired since taking, mild to painful headaches, don't feel well for a while after taking, rapid heartbeat and anxiety shortly after taking, very light brusing to none at injection site-painful to touch the next day sometimes though and sometimes not. Freezing a washcloth and holding to site before giving shot and after helps with pain and brusing. | I lost a baby in the past at full term, they think being due to a gene mutation with my blood clotting. So to be careful I don't lose this one they have put me on Lovenox 40mg everyday, on top of a baby asprin of 81mg a day, 3 doses of calcium and vitamin d a day, and my prenatal vitamins. The shot doesn't hurt going in just the medicine hurts-like a bee sting-going in. Sometimes I have no brusing and sometimes only light brusing, sometimes it never hurts to touch the area the day after and other times it does. This is my third pregnancy and it has been the best pregnancy I have ever had-I always felt great and wonderful. After starting these shots though I feel tired, no energy, mild to painful headaches, don't feel well for hours after taking shot, rapid heartbeat after taking shot, anxiety after taking shot, but worst of all my nasal passages are swollen and blocking so I can't breath at all-on top of my nose constantly running-severe mucus. I could handle all these side effects and | F | 22 | 5 days | 12/23/2008 | 4 | Factor Five Leiden/pregnancy/PE | Fatigue, shortness of breath, tired, headaches that can last days or a few minutes, anxiety, irritability, sweating | I got multiple pe's in my right lung in 06. Was on lovenox for a few months after, then switched to coumadin. I preferred the coumadin over the shots, but hated the restrictions on my diet and weekly monitoring. Being on lovenox is great because of the lack of monitoring and diet control. But the pain can be unbearable. I am back on lovenox due to being pregnant and with my belly getting bigger I am freaking out as to where to do it next?!? I tried a different method of injection where you clear out bubble, tighten the skin (with index and thumb) and inject slowly the only pain afterwards was the injection site, unlike many other times having pain from the medication or hematomas etc. So far seems easier to find good spots this way.. hopefully it will continue for the next 5 months that is all I have left to be on this. Yeah! | F | 30 | 5 months | 1/1/2009 | 5 | DVT right calf | EXPENSIVE and pain at injection site for a few minutes. That's about it. Am currently transitioning over to Coumadin and am having major side effects from that. Lovenox is such an easier alternative, I will miss it, my insurance won't cover it anymore ;( | Been on it for 6 months, 1st few weeks really seemed like a pain and literally was painful. But I got used to it quickly and doesn't bother me at all now. Gives me great relief to not have to worry about clots anymore. | F | 38 | 6 months | 1/29/2009 | 4 | ENORMOUS DVT IN LEFT LEG/PREGNANCY | Help!!! Does anyone get anxious when taking this drug? I don't have tolerance for ignorant people and I'm getting shopping cart rage. When I was on this drug two years ago I felt this way but I wasn’t sure if it was due to giving birth and having the large DVT. Now that I’m on the drug again (so that I can have another child), I’m feeling the same symptoms. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to handle this drug much longer! | F | 29 | 3 weeks | 2/3/2009 | 5 | Postpartum DVT | I don't know if it was encouraged but became mildly depressed as well as postpartum anxiety which I am still experiencing. I was on 60 mg twice a day, I experienced some severe bruising as well as hard fluid collections under the skin (those took several months to subside.) | If I choose to have another child I will probably be on lovenox the entire pregnancy. | F | 33 | 12 weeks | 2/8/2009 | 4 | Pre-electrical cardioversion | Just prior to cardioversion because of my atrial fibrillation, the doctor discovered that my INR was too low, so I received two Lovenox injections in my stomach, quite painful and caused bruising, and then I had to give myself injections afterwards at home, too. Nothing I would ever want to do for long. Had a trans-esophageal echocardiogram prior to the cardioversion and somehow my tongue was traumatized (it looked like I may have badly bitten it somehow, but I was under Twilight anaesthetic) and due to the thinned blood, I bled profusely INTO my tongue and the next day after I got home it looked like a killer whale filling up the whole inside of my mouth (my tongue was black and blue and HUGELY swollen). I went to the ER and the doctor said this was life-threatening, because the swelling tongue could block my airway. However, it stopped short of that. It was a horrible thing to experience, very frightening and prevented me from eating any solid food (there was no room in my mouth | I downgraded the score to a 4 because even though it did exactly what it was supposed to do, I definitely didn't like the idea of having to inject myself with it. And it leaves bad bruises, but they do heal. | M | 61 | 2 days | 2/21/2009 |
