| 2 | slight nasal congestion | acne, puffy cheeks, dry nose, diminished sense of smell | I had some slight adult acne before, but once I started using generic Flonase (1-2 squirts in each nostril once a day) it gradually got much worse and spread to my chest. I thought it was just hormones. Also, 2 weeks ago I saw some pictures of myself and my cheeks looked enlarged. I realized I had the look of someone being treated with an oral steroid, so I freaked out and stopped the Flonase. To my surprise, my acne is completely gone. My sense of smell is still kind of weak and my cheeks are still large, but I have hope that this all will return to normal. Nose is still dry. | F | 30 | 6 months 50 mg 1X D | 9/1/2010 | 3 | Ear fullness | dry, itchy eyes | No other side effects | F | 28 | 3 days 1X D | 8/31/2010 | 1 | Shrink Adenoids | please email me (newday2d at yahoo.com) I'm David's twin sister information on any side effects Also www.dailystrength.org/c/Asthma/forum/10372446-flonase-and-flovent www.tributes.com/davidmarlin thx! Keep in touch! | M | 45 | 5 weeks 2X D | 8/20/2010 | 2 | sinusitis, nasal polyps | Shortly after starting treatment I started noticing mild anxiety and just a kind of general nervousness. Insomnia, awaking early and not getting back to sleep, also occurred. It did shrink my nasal tissues but I also fell a weird fullness in the back of my nose. I started it partly because I told my doctor my sense of smell wasn't very good because my nose seemed swollen most of the time. After reading about others who have lost their sense of smell on this stuff I'm pretty sure I'm going to quit taking it. Fatigue and lethargy also may have occurred. | M | 61 | 14 days 100 mcg 1X D | 8/18/2010 | 1 | allergies | My daughter of 11 was prescribed this medication. At first she was also prescribed Benadryl at night so she was sleeping, as soon as she stopped the Benadryl she started not being able to sleep with huge fears, anxiety, not being able to sleep until 5:30 in the morning for the first night, than 5 am then 3 am, that is where we are today. The MD does not think there is a relationship between the sleeping problems and the Flonase but I can see from your database that she is not the first one with this problem.... | F | 11 | 4 weeks 15 1X D | 8/18/2010 | 1 | shrink adenoids | SUICIDE ---- My brother committed suicide while on this medication. No other indicator in the suicide! We know it was because of this nasal spray! Do not recommend this to anyone! Please contact me at newday2d@yahoo.com if you have had suicidal ideations related to the usage of this drug. | M | 45 | 1 months 1X D | 8/16/2010 | 1 | Allergies/frequent sinus infections | AFTER ABOUT 4 WEEKS OF TAKING THIS DRUG(PREVIOUSLY ON NASONEX BUT INS. COMPANY NEEDED PRE-AUTH. SO FNP SWITCHED ME TO FLONASE)I BEGAN TO NOTICE MANY SIDE-EFFECTS. DIZZINESS, PLUGGED EARS, HEART RACING, HEAD POUNDING, ANXIETY AND EXTREME AGRESSION. I AM ALSO A HYPOTHYROID PATIENT AND INITIALLY WENT TO FNP BECAUSE I THOUGHT MAYBE I WAS GOING TO HYPERTHYROID AND MY SYNTHROID DOSAGE NEEDED TO BE CHANGED. GOT MY LAB RESULTS BACK TODAY AND ALL MY LEVELS WERE COMPLETELY NORMAL. I WILL DISCONTINUE FLONASE IMMEDIATELY. WORKED WELL FOR KEEPING SINUSES CLEAR BUT OTHER SIDE EFFECTS ARE SO EXTREME I THOUGHT I WAS GOING CRAZY. I WANT TO RAISE HEALTHY WELL-ADJUSTED CHILDREN. THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE IF I TURN INTO THE SPAWN OF SATAN EVERYTIME I SQUIRT FLONASE UP MY NOSE!!!!! | F | 37 | 2 months 2 sprays 1X D | 8/6/2010 | 1 | Sinus infection | Each dose (spray) was 50 mcg. The instructions on the label said, "inhale 2 sprays to each nostril once daily". After 2 days, I started to notice some of the side effects: headaches, restlessness, loss sense of smell, a strange rash on my forearms, insomnia, anxiety, twitching and muscle & joint pain. I had never experienced any of those symptoms in my life. In my opinion, the FDA should pull this poison off the market as quick as possible. In the meantime perhaps issuing a Black Box warning can help. The side effects are disturbing and very difficult to manage. The risks exceed the benefits by a mile. | After suffering for two additional days, I began to think about what could possibly be causing all of these troubles ...the only thing different in my routine was the poison I was inhaling once a day. I did some research on the side effects and believe it or not found some relief when I was able to validate my suspicions. I stopped inhaling three days ago. All of the symptoms are still present. I am writing this comment six hours after I tried to go to bed and one hour before I have to get ready to go to work. This is not fun. | M | 42 | 7 days 200 mcg 1X D | 8/4/2010 | 5 | post-nasal drip & sore throat | mild headache & mild sinus pain; bloody, dry nasal passages | if it continues to work, this is a miracle drug for me. I've been having afternoon sore throats for almost a year, and the doctors couldn't figure out why. Tried antibiotics & added zyrtec to my daily meds (already taking claritin). Nothing helped. Dr. suggested trying flonase. By the 2nd day, no more sore throat. If I miss a dose, sore throat returns. Still not sure what the underlying cause of my sore throat is (I think the post-nasal drip, but not sure what's causing that). I'm just so thankful to finally have a treatment for my sore throat! | F | 35 | 12 days 2 sprays 1X D | 7/31/2010 | 1 | Allergies/sinus | Blurry Vision with migraine. | Never got headaches in my life (unless I had a sinus infection). The past two weeks my vision got blurry and yesterday I had a blast of wavy light in one eye which subsided after 10 or 15 mins. but left me with a migrain headache. I'm not sure if Flonase is the cause but I stopped taking it and hopefully this will never happen again. It was very scary! I'll have to see what happens in a week or so but if my migrains don't reoccur, I'll assume it was a Flonase side effect. | F | 59 | 2 months 1X D | 7/29/2010 | 2 | Seasonal, Spring & Fall allergies | I actually started with Nasacort for Spring and Fall seasonal allergies (and a bit of travel), then switched to Flonase when that became available (less $$$, propelent dried my nasal lining). I noticed, first with the Nasacort, that my sense of smell was a bit "off": kept smelling a bit of "Cinnamon" (I thought) the first year. Second year--smelled like "Grasses" ...not too bad. At some point I switched to the Flonase (2004). Now I started smelling things like garbage and rot(!) All while doing GREAT for my allergy symptoms. However, I noticed it was taking longer for "normal" smell to return after season; and finally it got where I was waiting longer & longer for ANY smell to return! (This can start affecting taste as well.) This concerned me seriously, and I won't use it any more. | This did not seem to be a listed side effect (or listed with any seriousness) but in looking online, seems to be a fairly prevalent reaction. The ISSUE is it's road to permanent sensory loss--often faster for other people. | F | 61 | 4 years 1-2 sprays 1X D | 7/26/2010 | 4 | seasonal allergies | headaches, aggression, nausea | I started as directed 2x a day and have since lowered to 1x a day. Headaches are gone, and I don't get nausea if I eat prior to taking medicine. Any aggression is infrequent and minor, easily a function of other factors, but seems more regular than before I took medicine. Generally no issues since adjusting dosage for my needs. | M | 27 | 45 days 50 mcg x 2 1X D | 7/24/2010 | 1 | allergies | Horrible anxiety, racing heart rate, horrible mood swings, i thought i was going insane. I was also very aggressive. I had to leave work yesterday i felt so terrible. Headaches as well. | F | 46 | 3 years 2X D | 7/21/2010 | 5 | allergies and sinus infections | F | 39 | 1 months 1X D | 7/20/2010 | 1 | Allergic rhinitis | Minor muscle and joint irritation accumulated over the entire period I was using this stuff. I was beginning to fear that I had developed rheumatoid arthritis. Every joint in my body ached. Minor sprains or strains would never heal. Myback would hurt so bad in the morning, I could barely get out of bed. I stopped taking this med after I wound up in ER having a panic attack and shortness of breath. It took me two weeks to get over the anxiety, with occasional help from Xanax and Benadryl. I had no history of anxiety before taking this stuff. | This stuff should be pulled from the market! | M | 44 | 90 days 100 mcg 2X D | 7/14/2010 | 1 | Allergies - Head Cold - Sinuses | Loss of taste and smell. Nasty smell lingering in my nose. | I had a head cold, and I was blowing my nose 50 times a day. Dr prescribed Flonase. I used Flonase for 1 month then I started on generic Fluticasone Propionate. Used it for another month. Quit using it and my taste and smell has never returned. I decided to go back on it today so I used it today and I recognized the awful smell in my nostrils and decided to google the side effects. I would like to know if my smell and taste will ever return. I used Flonase for about 2 yrs about 10 yrs ago. I had no problems. They must have changed the medication, because this stuff is making me gain weight because I'm trying to 'taste' and I am devastated that I can't taste or smell - but I keep trying. It is very frustrating. | F | 67 | 60 days 50 mcg 1X D | 7/12/2010 | 1 | allergies | A great deal of anxiety, loss of sleep, restlessness. I couldn't understand why this was happening. My doctor said it was not related to Flonase, but I stopped taking on my own, and my anxiety, lack of sleep and restlessness went away in a couple of days. I will never put myself through this again with this drug! | M | 64 | 10 days 30mg 1X D | 7/9/2010 | 1 | Sinus congestion, infection | Anxiety, horrific body and muscle pain, dizziness, nausea, extreme burning sensation in sinuses for hours | I am a Lupus patient who is extremely sensitive to a lot of medications. I wasnt currently taking any meds, going mostly natural, but needed something to take to help with the sinus infection. My doctor insisted it was very mild. After ONE spray in each nostril, I had the most horrific burning sensation in my sinuses for three hours. Finally able to get to sleep and woke up in tremendous flu-like muscle and joint pain. My muscles twitched and ached relentlessly the entire next day, had to go to the ER to get a shot of anti-inflammatory. Also, woke up at 2am the second night in full anxiety attack that started in my sleep. Benadryl was the only thing that helped. Now, second day after the one dose, sitting at my desk at work the anxiety, weakness and dizziness are still here. I will never take this drug again, praying that this poison leave my system soon. Hubby is an EMT and said he has never seen anything like this, and wants to report to the FDA. | F | 38 | 1 times 10mg 1X D | 7/1/2010 | 1 | Sinus Inflamation | Blurry Vision, Anxiety, Anger, Nervousness, Mood Swings, Aggression, Burning Sensation on Arms, Muscle Pain, Back Pain, Joint Pain | It took about five days for the side effects to set in. It took me five days latter to figure out what was going on. I found this forum after I stopped using it. My Dr. at first said their was no correlation with flonase and my condition. She advised to seek counseling. I am tightly wound, but that stuff put me way over the edge. Its been three days since I stopped, and still have some minor back pain, and an occasional muscle pain, but its like night and day. I am never touching this garbage ever again, and I would advise others not to take it. As others have mentioned, my family also suffered because of my reaction to this horrible drug. Why these side effects are not listed on the packaging is ridiculous. | M | 35 | 10 days Spary 2X D | 6/23/2010 | 1 | year round nasal symptoms | Occasional headaches, blurred vision, muscle aches-especailly in the legs, and frequent urination. | I could not figure out why all of a sudden I had very blurred vision. I also have been having trouble sleeping because my muscles ache so bad at night, and I have had to get up to use the restroom 4-5 times a night. I also take Claritin D, so I wasn't sure what was causing the symptoms so today I got on line and looked up serveral sites and have decided that it has to be the Flonase. I called my doctor and her response was she didn't feel that my symptoms had anything to do with the Flonase. I'm thinking she might be well advised to read this site to see that these symptoms are real and valid. I will say that Flonase worked great on what it was intended to treat - I have had little allergy symptoms of the nasal kind, but the side effects are not worth it to me. | F | 42 | 6 months 10mg 1X D | 6/23/2010 | 1 | Allergies | I have been taking flonase on and off for a year and recenly started taking it everyday. I now have massive anxiety, dizziness, lump in throat and depression. I can't live like this. I have a family that depends on me!!! | I have noticed numerous other poeple have experience the same and would like to know when the side effect go way. Please tell me they go away!!! | F | 38 | 1 years 2 sprays 1X D | 6/20/2010 | 2 | stuffy nose | asthma | F | 60 | 21 days 1X D | 6/12/2010 | 3 | Sinus infection with nosebleeds | Anxiety attacks. Feeling of fear, doom. RAcing heart. NOT FUN! | F | 49 | 6 days 1X D | 5/22/2010 | 1 | allergies | STARTED TAKING THE GENERIC FLONASE (FLUTICASONE). AFTER 4 OR 5 DAYS I LOST MY SENSE OF SMELL COMPLETELY. STOPPED USING THE PRODUCT AFTER 10 DAYS. DO NOT KNOW WHEN OR IF I WILL GET MY SMELL BACK. IT HAS BEEN ALMOST 2 WEEKS. CALLED THE MAKER OF THE FLUTICASONE I WAS USING (ROXANE LAB.)(THERE ARE 2 MANUFACTURERS OF FLUTICASONE) AND THEY COULD NOT TELL ME WHEN OR IF I WOULD GET MY SENSE OF SMELL BACK. HOWEVER, THEY DID TAKE MY INFORMATION SO THEY COULD REPORT IT TO THE FDA. I THINK THEY ARE REQUIRED BY LAW TO DO THIS. | M | 60 | 10 days 50 mcg 2X D | 5/19/2010 | 1 | seasonal allergies | Burning sensation in my nostrils and dizziness that didn't start right away and has continued since I stopped using it six days ago. | F | 54 | 35 days 50 mg 2X D | 5/7/2010 | 1 | Eustachian tube dysfunction | headache, insomnia, loss of taste and appetite, diarrhea, anxiety, haziness, difficulty breathing. | After my allergies caused a bad ear ache I went to the dr. who prescribed me Flonase. Within hours I developed a headache and just a fuziness that prevents concentration- which hasn't gone away since. That night I began waking up at 3 am and haven't slept longer than 4.5 hours since starting taking it. I noticed the loss of taste and appetite within a day or two, followed by loss of appetite (and really, there isn't much point in eating since there is no taste). After about 4 days I noticed anxiety and feeling on edge. Now I have been dealing with diarrhea- sever diarrhea. I'm not digesting food (it is coming out undigested which I have never seen or heard of before). So on top of not eating much, when I do I am in the bathroom within an hour. I have lost about 3 pounds in 6 days. All of that while I have not been doing my usual workout routine of runing 25 miles a week. I do not have the energy to run and the heart racing makes it impossible. I tried for the first time today and after 10 minutes I thought I might collapse. I emailed my doctor to find out what else will help my ear ache (because it is not gone yet!) | F | 31 | 7 days 1X D | 5/3/2010 | 3 | allergies | nosebleeds, sores that don't heal | Flonase does make it so much easier to breathe with allergies, but I get about 1 nosebleed a day now. Plus, there were a few sores in my nose that just would not heal until I stopped taking Flonase for a couple days. The nosebleeds are pretty annoying, so I just do not know if taking Flonase is worth it. | F | 22 | 5 months 50 1X D | 5/2/2010 | 4 | Severe Allergies | Slight sore throat. Weird "paint thinner" like smell and taste. | This is the only allergy medicine that has worked for me! I read all of the other comments and I am glad I still tried it. I was having snot drainage into my Eustachian tubes causing hearing loss. This is wonderful! Everyone's experiences are different though.. :) | F | 18 | 1 months 50 mcg 2X D | 4/12/2010 | 5 | Sinus drainage, constant bronchitas | Little bit loss of smell | I've been taking flonase/zyrtec for 4 weeks now. I no longer have sinus draining which was constantly leading me to get sick with bronchitas. I was sick for nearly 3 months and I'm better now. I started allergy justs just two days ago. I'm going to continue taking flonase each day for the next year until my allergy shot cycle completes. I get sick every year because of allergies with Feb-May being the worst. So far this past 4 weeks I haven't been sick or coughed once. Go flonase!! | M | 37 | 4 weeks 50 mbc 1X D | 4/6/2010 | 2 | Allergies | Immediately felt anxious and had a lot of trouble falling asleep the first day I started taking this medication. I only needed to be on this med for two days to determine it is definitely not for me. | I highly recommend that if you have sinisitus or allergies to try a more holistic approach like a nasal rinse... it worked for me... | F | 33 | 2 days 2X D | 4/3/2010 | 2 | Seasonal allergies | Seasonal allergies treated with Claratin/ Flonase for stuffy nose. I recently began feeling dizzy, joint pain, weakness, nervous, and higher sense of anxiety. | Discontinued use of flonase and started taking Nasonex. So far feeling ok. | M | 43 | 4 years 1X D | 4/3/2010 | 2 | sinus pressure in ears | anxiety and sense of despair. Seems it was effective for the first day or two then pressure returned along with the anxiety | Took this about 10 years ago and had no problems. | M | 44 | 7 days 2 sprays 1X D | 3/29/2010 | 1 | sinusitis | SEVERE sore throat, swollen tonsils, anxiety, rage, paranoia, hallucinations, delusions, depression lasting 5 months SO FAR | I am not sensitive to meds, but this one is one that is not worth the side effects! It did clear up my nose, but I have had a sore throat from the second day I took this stuff. For 5 months now, I have battled a sore throat with swollen tonsils. For 5 months so far, the sore throat is about all I can think about, because of how severe it is. I am now fasting to try and get this crap out of my system; will post again once sore throat clears and say how long it lasted. | M | 33 | 5 days 1 spray 2X D | 3/29/2010 | 1 | For my allergies | Lost sense of smell totally. Thanks for every one who has posted there experiences here with flonase. I stopped taking this for almmost a week now and have been using saline spray and I got my sense of smell partially back!!!! I have been able to smell after 2 years again by just stopping this medicine. Hopefully I will recover my sense of smell totally within few more weeks. Whoever is using this medicine and lost sense of smell STOP USING FLONASE and you will GET BACK YOUR SENSE OF SMELL | Thanks for every one who has posted there experiences here with flonase. I stopped taking this for almmost a week now and have been using saline spray and I got my sense of smell partially back!!!! I have been able to smell after 2 years again by just stopping this medicine. Hopefully I will recover my sense of smell totally within few more weeks. Whoever is using this medicine and lost sense of smell STOP USING FLONASE and you will GET BACK YOUR SENSE OF SMELL | M | 43 | 4 years 30 1X D | 3/26/2010 | 1 | Severe Nasal Congestion | Severe Anxiety, Depression, Irritability, Sleep Disturbance, Panic Attacks, Difficulty Breathing, Heart Racing and Blurred Vision | I was given this drug by my allergist. I insisted that I am VERY sensitive to medications and that I knew this is a steroid and I didn't want to have any bad side effects. He assured me that this is given to babies, so I would be fine. I took it for a month and noticed depression, irritability and sleep disturbance. I asked him about it and he assured me that this med was not causing these symptoms. I googled it and found that it did indeed cause these things. I stopped the drug and they went away. Well, I just had the flu and was very congested so I took it just for a little while to clear me up. I've only used it for 4 days and have had a MASSIVE anxiety attack where I felt like I couldn't breathe. My husband almost took me to the ER. I am having anxiety, irritability, blurred vision, and sleep disturbance as well, all within 4 days!!! I'm throwing this stuff out!! I'm glad I came across this site because it reassures me that I'm not crazy. | F | 35 | 4 days 50mcg 1X D | 3/18/2010 | 1 | chronic sinusitis | anxiety, sleeplessness, heart fluttering and palpatations | I recently had gallbladder surgery and had to stop all meds for 2 weeks before surgery. I did not restart my flonase til 2 weeks after surgery. Never made the connection to why, despite the impending surgery I was feeling so calm, sleeping well and had not had a panic attack in weeks. Been back on flonase for 2 weeks and the insomnia, anxiety etc. is back with a vengeance. Never really got much relief from it anyway so today I will stop using this drug. | F | 62 | 50MCG 2X D | 3/10/2010 | 3 | sinus problems | horrible itching and burning on skin especially in the neck, chest and upper arms and horrible bruising | i used flonase as needed for a year but recently my new doctor suggested i use everyday 2 sprays to clear and prevent but it has caused me horrible pain the itching is untollerable.. uuhhggg im going craaazy | F | 30 | 10 days 1X D | 3/8/2010 | 2 | sinus infection | Anxiety, sore tight throat feeling. Feels like i,m breathing through a straw that has holes in it.Blurry vision, bloated feeling. | I have to say it didnt really unstuff my nose but i kept on with it in hopes it would.I noticed my eyes where becoming blurry, my glasses no longer seemed to work so ive actually got an appointment with an eye Doc this week.I never really associated it with Flonase, but perhaps thats it. Also noticed anxiety, tight feeling in throat and a feeling like i,m breathing through a straw that has holes in it...very strange and quite scary,Need to take deep breaths.I lay awake last night and thought about it and its the only med i,m taking so i decided to stop. Id rather suffer the sinus pressure than this.I do have to say that i,m very sensitive to meds so i dont want to put this med down as it seems to work great for many many people. I'm just not good at taking meds. | F | 51 | 3 weeks 1X D | 3/8/2010 | 1 | allergies | Major anxiety, tremors, trouble sleeping, minor nosebleed | While it did wonders for my allergies, I couldn't figure out why I was suddenly so jittery & anxious all the time. I couldn't sleep very well either. I innocently googled the side effects to see if the bleeding nose was normal and through this site, I discovered it was the Flonase making me anxious. I've been off of it for almost 2 weeks and I am still jittery and anxious. Hope I get back to normal soon. | F | 35 | 3 months 1X D | 3/8/2010 | 4 | severe allergies | Noticed a lot of joint pain, irritability and insomnia, but never thought it was related to this drug until now when I research it's side effects. Have recently been experiencing several minor nose bleeds throughout the day. | Flonase does help the allergies tremendously and opens up my sinuses. | F | 42 | 5 years 1X D | 3/2/2010 | 1 | Sinutitis | Severe eye floaters and eye discomfort such as dry eye and pain. In trying to determine the cause of the sudden onset of syptoms I found out that this drug could be and in my opinion is the cause of all of my problems. My ENT specialist said to take it daily for ever to prevent sinus infections...now that I have thoughly read ( I take responsibility but this is a specialist) I wish I had NEVER taken this stuff. I suffer daily with severe eye floaters...will drive you crazy and eye discomfort and pain. My quality of life is worse than that of having a sinus infection. I am 43 years old and took this daily for 4 years. Trust me you do not want to feel like I do! I am convinced that this drug has caused my problems. | F | 43 | 5 years 2X D | 3/2/2010 | 1 | allergy relief for my 6 yr old | My son became VERY hyperactive within the last two weeks of the med before I d/c'd it. He had NEVER been a hyper kid, yet all of a sudden he could not sit down for any meals, was constantly moving and touching everything. And most importantly, he had developed a vocal tic in the form of a grunt. The tic became so prevalent at home, and very instrusive. He would grunt approx. 3-4x/min or more through out the day. | The Rx did help him with his nasal allergies, but the side effects were so disruptive and upsetting to the whole family. I cried every night waiting for the Rx to leave his system. Two weeks today, and my little boy is back to his old self. He's calm (for a six year old) and no more vocal tic. | M | 6 | 30 days 50mcg/side 1X D | 3/2/2010 | 5 | Severe nasal polyps , blocked | Minor nosebleed on right side | This drug is amazing. After almost 2 months of my nose being almost constantly stopped up, it has cleared up completely and I can breathe completely normal again. Also, my sense of smell and taste has come back better than I can ever remember it being. | M | 36 | 30 days 2 sprays 1X D | 2/23/2010 | 4 | chronic sinus problems and allergie | I was on this medication for years. I stopped after I wound up in the ER with a severe bloody nose (with no insurance). I have been off it for over a year, but allergies came back severely. I periodically use it when nose won't stop running. It dawned on me that I was anxious, angry, nervous, moody, depressed, heart palpitations, would grind my teeth. Also take Flovent for asthma. Steriods really create chronic pain throughout my body. Much calmer since I went off it, but it took a long time to work out of my system. | I, unfortunately, need to use it periodically because I have deviated septums, so I get sinus drip which winds up going into my lungs and stirs up my asthma. I wish I could go off it completely. | F | 56 | 6 years 1X D | 2/20/2010 | 2 | Sinus infections/allergys | Extreme joint pain, joint stiffness, loss of taste, tired all the time, headaches, nightmares. | I never would have expected a medicine to cause so much joint pain. I can barely get out of bed in the morning or walk. I can deal with the loss of taste, headaches, and being tires but I cannot deal with the pain. I've also noticed that I have been having horrible nightmares since being on flonase. | F | 24 | 3 weeks 50 MG 2X D | 2/17/2010 | 1 | chronic nasal congestion | My 11 yr old daughter took this for chronic nasal congestion...we ended up taking her to the ER after her 3rd day on it, because we thought she was having an asthma attack. This medicine made her dizzy, short of breath, tight feeling in chest and in a panic state. They were trying to tell me it was all in my daughter's head..but if you reaad the insert she had major side effects from this drug. | F | 43 | 3 days 2X D | 2/17/2010 | 3 | Allergic rhinitis | Took this drug intermittently for two years, but recently developed nosebleed and had to have nose cauterized. The ENT doc said this is a common side effect. | F | 55 | 2 years 2 puffs a 2X D | 2/5/2010 | 5 | Cedar Fever | None that I'm aware of. Only use one blast in each nostril first thing in the AM. | This worked like a charm and eliminated all sypmtoms. | M | 48 | 30 days | 2/3/2010 | 1 | Ear Infection | Total loss of taste and smell | I was put on an antibiotic and Flonase by my doctor to treat an ear infection. After 4 days, the ear infection was starting to clear up but I couldn't taste or smell. Its really starting to scare me. I would stop taking Flonase if I were you especially after ready the posts on this page. I have taken the antibiotic before, Amoxycillin, and always been fine so its not that. | F | 35 | 5 days | 1/26/2010 | 1 | dizziness due to ear/sinus problems | laxative effect accompanying dosing from first use,dry nostrils w/ nosebleeds after 2 weeks, persistent dull headache after first month of use- headaches start afternoon and i dose in the morning, after 3 months of dosing experienced sporadic complete nasal blockage- neti pot literally will not work because it cannot flow through the sinus- really frightening. after reading other patients comments and in conjunction with my own experiences, i am immediately commencing a controlled withdrawal from this drug | should checked the internet before using this crap drug! | M | 43 | 4 months | 1/25/2010 | 5 | allergies & frequent sinus infectio | none at all | Flonase was the magic ingredient that stopped me from having frequent sinus infections. I think I have only had 1 in past 2 yrs since using Zyrtec/Flonase combo, compared to 5-6 per yr prior. Although I also had sinus surgery, I did not notice a drastic change until we added the daily 1 spray/nostril dose to my routine. | F | 41 | 2 years | 1/19/2010 | 1 | Middle ear infection | Permanent odd smell to date, nose bleed (minor) to date, not eliminated symptoms of ongoing low grade left side headache, runny and slightly painful left nostril, partially blocked left nostril. Started on this drug 2008 on drops then spray, total about 7 months. I decided to stop, almost immediate reduction in symptoms, which were getting worse again, and they are still reduced but present. | After original hospital admission with bleeding nose, ear and from sick, very ill. Referred to consultant ENT after returning home with ongoing symptoms, including tinitus. Together with side effects I've read about, plus the risk of even death if exposed to measles or some other disease(not on patient leaflet), and seemingly no awareness of these dangers by my GP/Consultant/Pharmacist, and when I asked my consultant how long I'd need to take it, he dismissively replied "It could be for ever". It has left me quite depressed, wondering if ageism was involved and searching for a decent consultant who can treat the problem and offer me sensible and honest advice and information instead of treating the symptoms with an inneffective and a dangerous(told safe)drug and me as a "patient" to be tolerated. | M | 67 | 210 days | 1/16/2010 | 4 | rhinitis following sinus infection | Insomnia. Strange taste in mouth. Really interesting vivid dreams. | It helps a lot with sinus irritation, but makes it harder for me to get to sleep. Had to reduce dosage slowly to prevent forming a cough. I have nothing against all the crazy dreams I've been having - they're rather entertaining. | F | 23 | 21 days | 1/13/2010 | 3 | Non-allergic rhinitis | Panic attacks, sleeplessness, anxiety, headaches, nausea | I've been taking Flonase for the past month, and while my nasal symptoms seemed to improve (much less sneezing and clearer air passage), I've been experiencing some bizarre episodes over the past 10 days that include panic attacks, shortness of breath, nausea, and sleeplessness/night terrors. This is the only drug I take, and I've never in my life experienced episodes like these before. My plan of action has been to notify my doctor to tell him I'm going off Flonase for the forseeable future. | M | 32 | 1 months | 1/11/2010 | 1 | right nasal passage clogged | total loss of smell and taste | I have totally lost my sense of smell and taste. I didn't attribute it to Flonase until just recently. Now that I have seen this site, I see why! I am praying that my senses will come back. | F | 30 | 3 months | 1/6/2010 | 1 | sinus inflamation | Depression, Panicky, Moody, Sleeplessness, Dry Nose, Slight Nose Bleeding ... odd heart beat sensations from time to time. | I found this site because I made a connection to a troubling depression and anxiety after committing to using the generic version of flonase every day for at least a month. I typed "depression and flonase" into Google and seems I have found the cause ... to my great relief. I took my last dose last night and hope it will be out of my system soon. I thought I was developing a serious problem. Sleeplessness, panicky feeling about any slight bit of bad news at work or personal, moody and generally depressed without relief. I am grateful to the information on this web site!! I wish I could blame my hair loss on it too, but not sure that started with the nose spray :-). This stuff ruined my Christmas Holiday! | M | 41 | 60 days | 1/6/2010 | 1 | Lingering cough and nasal issues | Loss of taste in all foods and total loss of smell. Added to some depression and hostility. | Prescribed by doctor to help with on going cough and nasal congestion. Used for three months, noticed loss of smell and loss of taste. Off product now for seven months and still have not recovered taste or smell. | F | 59 | 90 days | 1/3/2010 | 3 | Frequent Sinus and Ear Infections | Shortness of breath, Dizziness, and I have passed out twice after exercising. | I am a new user of Flonase, and my body is having a hard time adjusting. I find myself always dehydrated, and cannot do regualar exercises. Recently I worked out, and then could not catch my breath, stood up and then passed out and hit the floor. When I came to, my hands were clinched and numb. It was 30 minutes before I recovered enough to leave the gym. I am in great general health running in 5K and 10K races regularly for the past few years and never experienced any problems until I started on Flonase a few weeks ago. | M | 28 | 20 days | 12/23/2009 | 1 | nasal and ear blockage | after taking for just one day i noticed extreme numbness in left armpit in morning. numbness would last most of the day first i thought i slept on my arm wrong but it happened every day i took flonase told my doctor he told me to keep using it so i did for about one week until numbness was unbearable i stopped after a week but i still have numbness 2-3 times a week not as severe, however still uncomfortable | i would not use this drug | M | 41 | 5 days | 12/13/2009 | 5 | Eustachian Tube Pain runs down neck | Yes it can make your heart race a little bit, so use according to your tolerance especially at first. But totally worth figuring it out. | My ears would affect me when I would fly. About every other trip I would end up with vertigo for 3 weeks after flying.I had constant horrible eustachin tube pain down one side of my neck for 2 years, and in the last year it started on the other side. 6 months ago I started using this once a day in each side. Then I got to twice a day. After some regular use I am now down to occasional use. I do NOT have constant pain, and use it when I feel a slight pain coming on to prevent it from setting in. I LOVE IT. I Never had a day prior to this for 2 years easily without pain. Just use it smart. You dont HAVE TO start with a full dose. Let your body get used to it, listen to your body, and build up to a fuller dose. My GP prescribed this to me, and I'm glad I didnt listen to the ENT specialists that told me I the only fix which was not reccomended was getting my eardrum rebuilt because of my eardrums inherant misfunction. ...By the way when I fly now I do not get vertigo afterward with use of this. | F | 40 | 6 months | 12/12/2009 | 2 | nasal congestion | insomnia, post-nasal drip, bleeding sinuses | It did reduce my allergy-related nasal congestion but eventually the side effects were not worth it to me. Using a neti pot on a daily basis seems to be as effective with no side effects. | F | 49 | 2 years | 12/3/2009 | 3 | environmental allergies/sinusitus | I have been taking Flonase for several years. Not sure exactly how many but at least 4. I have been having anxiety attacks, increased irregular heart beats, high blood pressure, stomach problems, and mild depression. | I noticed a difference as soon as I quit it but am waiting until it has completely exited my system to tell if my issues were all flonase based or not. I rinse my sinuses with a Neil Med bottle twice a day and that is controlling my sinus issues. I will probably still use Flonase if I have particularly bad days but only as a last resort. I got a charge out of the 44 year old lady who has been taking it for 5 years and questioned people who said they had anxiety and depression issues and yet she stated she, herself, had had them for 5 years. Might be a correlation there!!! | F | 60 | 4 years | 11/30/2009 | 2 | spring allergies | I have not taken Flonase for 20 months, yet when I sneeze 3 or 4 times in a row, I can taste it - the steroids have a dramatic affect on sleep, hair loss and confusion. I have stopped taking it - November 23, 2009 Barrie Ontario | it works - clears away the stuffiness - but stays in one's system for a very long time | M | 60 | 10 days | 11/23/2009 | 1 | nasal congestion | confusion, agitation, sever hairloss | worst drug ever made | M | 39 | 9 months | 11/22/2009 | 2 | Sinus infections/nasal stuffiness | Dizzy feeling; anxiety; panic attacks; moodiness; depression | I starting taking flonase about 5 or 6 years ago; Until then I have never experienced anxiety and panic attacks. I contributed these symptons to work stress; Got anxienty medicine; These helped some at first; I have always taken Flonase as needed; sometimes I take it for months and sometimes just for weeks but I have never connnected the dots with the relationship of the symptoms mentioned above and when I use Flonase. I think I have finally figured it out. None of the symptons I have are listed in the documentation that comes with the drug so again that's why I did not think it was Flonase. I have stopped taking it and see it this help? Can anyone advise or have simular symptoms or stories of what happens when you stop using this drug? Thank you, | M | 38 | 5 years | 11/20/2009 | 1 | uncontrolled coughing and allergies | extreme "greasy" diarrhea (would happen with no notice), sinuses felt "greasy" after using drug, complete loss of sense of smell and taste, coughing continued due to constant nasal discharge, depression | Don't use this product until you completely investigate the side effects. I complained to my dr about the diarrhea and she said it couldn't be from the Flonase (guess she never read the side effects associated with the drug). I discontinued the drug after 6 weeks of use and am still waiting (5 weeks later) for my sense of smell and taste to return. The "greasy" diarrhea tapered off within 2 weeks but if I eat anything greasy now, there is a little diarrhea problem (easily handled with Kaopectate). I no longer have the greasy feeling in my nostrils, and the depression has lifted. Take this drug at your own risk--don't believe everything that your dr says about it--sometimes they are not informed or aware of the multiple side effects. | F | 60 | 6 weeks | 11/14/2009 | 1 | nasal congestion | insomnia, a general "wired" feeling, heavy nosebleeds, bad smell | This is a steroid drug, and it has a lot of the typical steroid side effects. I always had to be sure I used Flonase in the morning because if I used it before bed, it would keep me awake all night. The smell was bad, but tolerable and seemed to dissipate after a few hours. However, the real problem was the nosebleeds. After I'd been using this drug for almost two years, I started getting heavy nosebleeds out of the left side of my nose. I finally figured out that the Flonase was causing the bleeds, and stopped it shortly after that. Unfortunately, several years later, I still have a weak blood vessel in the left side of my nose that will bleed heavily from time to time. If you choose to use this medication, do so with great caution. | M | 29 | 2 years | 11/13/2009 | 3 | Seasonal Allergies | Anxiety, more talkative, hyper, obstinant, defiant. | My son was coughing all night long, had a stuffy nose, then it would let loose and the mucous would just drain so badly. He was barely sleeping. History has taught us that every allergy or asthma medicine makes him spastic and out of control. Flonase is the lesser of all evils. The first day we gave him Flonase he hardly coughed and got a full nights sleep, the first in weeks. Sadly within 3 days his dad & I noticed a change in his behavior. So did his teacher, since she sent an e-mail asking what was going on. I can tell within 20 minutes of spraying his nose his behavior escalates. We decided to halve the dose, instead of one spray in each nostril, we are doing one spray in one nostril, then alternate to the other nostril the next day. Tonight 10/24/09 is the first we've done this and I noticed his behavior did not get out of control like it would before. How crazy I thought, to notice a difference right away. So far he has not coughed one time. Usually by now he has several times. So if you like the allergy releif you see but don't like the side effects, I offer this as a possibility. | M | 6 | 5 days | 10/24/2009 | 1 | and seasonal allergies | After days days of this drug, my 6yr old son became boisterous, mean, emotional, bossy, etc. Caused a serious personality change in an otherwise happy child. | This is a steroid drug, stay away if you are sensitive to such things. | M | 6 | 4 days | 10/18/2009 | 3 | seasonal allergies | bad taste in back of throat, dry nasal passages | I don't take this medication as directed out of pure laziness. I am surprised to hear of reports of anxiety. In fact, I have looked up every drug that I or my family members use on this site and every drug causes anxiety for a lot of people. Not sure what to think of this. I suppose the little bit of steroid in this med could do this, but still...... As someone who has struggled with "moderate" anxiety and depression for about 5 years now, I have to wonder about the effects of my much needed allergy meds on my moods. What is causing what people? | F | 44 | 5 years | 10/15/2009 | 4 | allergies all year round | Flonase helped me allergies alot in the beginning but then I started getting HORRIBLE migraines and upon the migraines I felt like I was having a panic attack which lead to vomitting. I use it now ONLY when my allergies are out of control and I continue to take Zyrtec D on a regluar basis. | causes migraines and confusion and anxiety attacks after pro-longed usage. | F | 25 | 2 months | 10/11/2009 | 5 | Dust allergies | None | FLONASE IS INCREDIBLE!!! I suffered miserably for years from year-round allergies. I finally went to an allergist and got tested (well worth it). I found out I was allergic to dust and dustmites. He put me on Flonase. It has worked absolutely incredible for me. Sneezing and blowing my nose are a thing of the past. It has TOTALLY cured me from allergies. I only wish I had gone to an allergist 10 years ago. | M | 47 | 1 months | 10/7/2009 | 2 | sinusitus | complete loss of sense of smell and taste | Flonase didn't clear up my nasal congestion and resulted in a cough and loss of sense of taste and smell. Will discontinue immediately and hope I can enjoy the taste and scent of food again soon. | M | 57 | 6 days | 10/4/2009 | 1 | allergies | loss of appetite, insomnia, nightmares, anxiety, depression, feeling "out of it", dizziness, tired, weak, two episodes of light nosebleeds about a month apart, redness on outside of left nostril, left eye bloodshot, eventually left eye pain and left temple pain, severe dryness in nose, feeling of tightness like swim goggles after 3 months of use, nasal pain, muscle weakness in arms & legs, unstable blood sugar, irritability, short-tempered, inability to concentrate | After 2 wks of using it, I started to feel strange, loss of appetite, tired, anxious, worried, "out of it". After 1 month, I had a slight nose bleed from my left nostril and was treated with a steroid shot and 2 back-to-back cycles of antibiotics for a "sinus infection." Another month later, I had another slight nosebleed and was treated again for a sinus infection with a stronger cycle of antibiotics. All the while, I was feeling unlike I had ever felt in my life. See my side effects at left. Finally, after being on generic Flonase for three months, I realized (not the doctors) that it was the nasal spray that was making me "sick". The doctors had kept telling me to stay on it b/c my left nasal cavity was so inflamed that it "had to be helping." Ultimately, I ended up going to the ER 3 times this summer, and it all started with the steroid nasal spray. By the time, the doctors were finished "doctoring" me from what they couldn't figure out was the Flonase, they had given me two steroid shots six weeks apart and 5 days of Prednisone. I was up for 4 straight nights in a row right after finishing the Prednisone with all the other steroids in my system. I went to the ER once with a BP of 212/110 and another time for chest pains. I am a normal, healthy woman with simple allergic rhinitis & a deviated septum. Be careful! | F | 38 | 3 months | 9/29/2009 | 1 | sinus conjestion | headaches, dizziness, shortness of breath.. | colapsed to total unconciencness,,, on field during band performance.. | F | 15 | 2 days | 9/25/2009 | 1 | Seasonal Allergies | Anxiety, migraines | My son began taking this drug for allergies in the spring and over the summer we noticed he began to pick scabs and bite his fingernails. Both habits are considered "anxiety" disorders. Scab picking was severe and led to multiple scars and skin infections. Migraines occurred every 2-3 weeks, were sudden in onset and quickly progressed to the point of vomiting. I finally made the connection in timing of introduction of the drug to his system and the onset of these symptoms. He has been off the drug for 2 weeks and has had no migraines, gone two days without picking scabs, and I just cut his fingernails for the first time in four months. Yea! | M | 7 | 4 months | 9/18/2009 | 5 | Allergies | No side affects | I was on Flonase for 2 yrs and I want to share with everyone before you start your .kiwidrug.com/search/flonase lonase medication | F | 62 | 2 years | 9/17/2009 | 4 | Allergies/pressurized ears | Bad taste due to dripping, some sleeplessness | I've been taking this off and on for years. It's not a miracle drug, but overall its one of the better long-term solutions I've found. I am allergic to almost everything in my house, including my 2 cats and I work with dogs, so I'm usually miserable. When I take Flonase, after a few days everything but the ear pressure goes away. In my experience, its better to start this medicine off slow - one pump per nostril, once a day IN THE MORNING. If you take it at night, the position of your head will keep too much of it in your sinuses (it was designed for patients mostly in a vertical position, therefor some is expected to drain down your throat - if you lay down for hours after spraying, nothing drains and you might "overdose" even with the "proper" dose). If you take this right before bed, it can cause some sleeplessness. Taking it during the day may prevent that side effect. Also note, though, some people experience something like sleep apnea when they have allergy symptoms (most people with the condition are not aware of it), and if you have inner ear issues like me, simply shifting positions at night can cause vertigo even in sleep, which can wake you up too. Allergies can cause diziness by themselves, so if you become dizzy, again, don't just blame the drug. That may be a new change in your allergies and the drug can take a couple days to reach full potential. | F | 29 | 3 years | 9/16/2009 | 4 | Sinusitis, Blocked Tear Ducts | No adverse side effects | I have had chronic nasal problems for 35+ years which for the past 2 years has begun effecting my tear ducts by plugging them up and causing constant pussy exudate and vision problems. Eye doctor wanted to insert tubes in my ducts but I thought, why a surgery? Began using Flonase a month ago and my problem has diminished quite substantially. For now, I am very satisfied with the product. In this short time, Flonase has already made up for most of the misery I have had with my eyes for the past 2 years. As with any medication, each user responds differently. Always follow the 'advice' your body tells you and respond accordingly. | F | 57 | 1 months | 9/9/2009 | 5 | seasonal allerigies | none | Has worked great to keep nose clear for seasonal allergies. Does not always control pressure in ears. Get fewer sinus infections, but still usually twice a year. | F | 45 | 5 years | 9/3/2009 | 1 | Sinus congestion | Loss of appetite, nausea, dizziness, heart palpatations, depression, panic attacks, lack of energy, sleeplessness, shortness of breath, difficulty swallowing (including food) | Don't even think about using this nasal spray until you have read all the possible side effects. Check out www.NIH.gov for 3 long lists of possible side effects from mild to emergency-room-serious level. Flonase did nothing to relieve my nasal congestion even after using the product for two months. But once I went from one spray per nostril to two sprays per nostril per day my problems began. Many of my side effects were on the serious, get yourself to the emergency room list! The depression was the most frightening. But dizziness for half the day, nausea, lack of appetite and, especially, shortness of breath were also very scary. I'm usually a very confident, optimistic person, but the depression was beginning to cause a personality change. The lack of energy was getting me down as well because I couldn't clean the house, run errands, and keep things orderly and the resulting chaos only created another kind of depression. Be very careful before taking this drug. Read the Medline account about the use of this drug as far back as 1948 at the Mayo Clinic for arthritis and how it created so many horrible side effects no one would take it. | F | 70 | 2 months | 8/23/2009 | 1 | allergies | neck and back pain so severe it wakes me up at night. Nose is still runny and sneezy, but can breath a little better at night. However, the better breathing is probably from ridding my bedroom of dustmites more than from the meds. I thought I was getting sick, but now think it is the flonase. | F | 43 | 8 days | 8/10/2009 | 1 | Chronic Sinus Infections | I took Flonase for 3 days when I had a severe migraine. I didn't connect the dots. That night I took Flonase for a 4th time. The next day I had another migraine. Finally I Googled Flonase & Migraines, discovering that the World Health Organization had found a significant connection between Flonase & Migraines. I stopped taking it. I had 2 more migraines 3 days after I'd stopped the medicine so it took that long for the medicine to clear my system. I have not had a migraine since that 4th one on June 23/09. Note: hormones, birth control pills, & MSG have also triggered my migraines. | F | 64 | 4 days | 7/27/2009 | 1 | Severe, year-round allergies | debilitating cough, sore throat, runny nose, sneezing, headache, nausea/vomiting | My allergies had gotten to the point that they were no longer “seasonal” but year-round. I was taking a Claritin every day, sometimes taking another before I was supposed to. It helped some with the sneezing and runny nose but didn’t do much to relieve the obnoxious congestion I had become so accustomed to. Once I developed allergic asthma and was having regular attacks, I finally saw my doctor. He prescribed me Flonase and Singulair, and told me to continue taking my Claritin once a day. I took everything diligently at 6pm every day. For the first 8 days, I was on cloud 9. I could breathe all day and all night, no asthma attacks, no sneezing, runny nose, itchy eyes, scratchy throat…nothing! I thought I’d found wonder drugs. Yesterday, while at work I realized I was coughing…and coughing, and coughing, and coughing. I felt completely fine but had this persistent and horrible cough. I really didn’t think much of it, and took all my meds again at 6pm. Twenty minutes later, I could barely talk. I ended up awake all night with the cough, a sore throat, I was nauseous and throwing up, and when I finally drug myself out of bed this morning I stood up to a bad headache. I looked up the side effects of Flonase and they seem to fit the bill perfectly. I plan on calling my doctor today, and never putting that drug up my nose again. Talk about a let down. | F | 22 | 9 days | 7/24/2009 | 3 | chronic sinus problems | at first there were none, but then anxiety and heart palpitations set in | my doctor prescribed flonase to me and it worked wonders for about a week, then the headaches started. doctor then told me to take it as needed. while the drug was "working its way out of my system" i had horrible panic attacks, heart palpitations and high anxiety... i took it after getting stopped up again and the same exact thing happened- only thing could explain it is flonase since that's the only medicine i take... it's not worth it. sad news too because it was the only thing that worked to unstop my nose :( | F | 24 | 2 months | 7/22/2009 | 5 | Severe congestion | Occasional mild nosebleeds (only if blow my nose too hard) | I've always had sinus problems and terrible seasonal allergies, and I'm also allergic to cats. Last year I got a cat... I know, terrible idea, but I couldn't turn it away. Zyrtec relieved the constant sneezing and itchy eyes, but not the severe congestion. I had resorted to taking two different types of nasal sprays no less than every 2 hours; one of them made my heart feel like it was going to burst out of my chest. On a visit to my psychiatrist of all people, she saw how miserable I was and suggested I try Flonase, so she wrote me a script. I bought the generic version and within 3 days, I was a new person. No more congestion, NONE! Flonase has been a godsend, and I highly recommend it to anyone with similar problems to mine. I'm willing to put up with almost any side effect over the misery of living without being able to breathe through my nose. As a testament, I ran out of Flonase about two weeks ago, and for the last few days I’ve been back to my miserable congested self. I can’t wait to pick up a new one at the pharmacy tomorrow. | F | 30 | 3 months | 7/20/2009 | 2 | allergies, clogged ears | Sore throat, tingling tongue, few canker sores...let me tell you that I would rather suffer the effects of allergies over the side effects of this medication. | Flonase has alleviated the common effects of allergies such as: sneezing, itchy eyes and hayfever. However the side effects that I listed are extremely bothersome. Therefore I no longer plan on using this steriod based medication given the uncomfortable side effects. | M | 35 | 2 months | 7/20/2009 | 1 | eustachian tube dysfunction | irritated eyes, weird sensations in the eye lids, panic attacks, nightmares | The drug helped with the constant popping in my ear, which was awesome, but my eyes were acting strange. I didn't connect the two until after reading some of the comments. Four years ago I had panic attacks and tonight I'm having it all over again. Thank you all for leaving your experiences on this page! It helped me figure out that it was simply the drug causing this. I hope this medicine will get out of my system quick. | F | 30 | 6 months | 7/14/2009 | 2 | sinusitis, seasonal allergies | Fungal infection in sinuses, thrush in mouth. | The thrush was the first noticeable side effect, and a big concern for an otherwise healthy man. My dentist actually diagnosed & treated the thrush, but when it returned I went to my PCP, my doctor (ex-doctor) told me I didn't have thrush or a fungal infection because "that's what girls get in their vaginas." After changing doctors, I was treated for fungal infection and it cleared up. | M | 6 months | 7/12/2009 | 3 | sinus and allergy problems | my tongue tingles, sometimes a numb feeling. metallic taste in my mouth, nothing taste good. trouble sleeping, blurred vision, always tired | I couldn't figure out why my tongue tingles and sometimes feels numb and I constantly have a metallic taste in my mouth. The only medicine I take everyday is Flonase, so I looked up side affects for Flonase and found this site. After reading other peoples side affects I think my blurred vision, trouble sleeping, always tired, and even weight gain may be related to the flonase. I am going to stop taking it and see what happens. even though Flonase helps me breath at night, I think I will stick with saline. | F | 45 | 1 years | 7/9/2009 | 1 | Allergies | Withdrawal SEVERE DIZZINESS! While on drug experienced dry, itchy nose, headaches, sneezing and runny nose. Didn't help cough at all. | I have used Flonase for years for my spring allergies. Last fall I became ill and developed a persistent cough. My doctor told me to use the Flonase to help my cough. It never helped my cough, in fact what helped is when I started taking 2 TBLS of organic apple cider vinegar (OCV) in 8 oz water daily. I stopped the Flonase because my nose was so itchy -- I sneezed all the time and therefore had to continuously blow my nose. I was off of it for two days when I began experiencing the worst dizziness. The first bout was so debilitating that I could not stand for over an hour. Now it is four days later and I am still experiencing severe dizziness in the morning but am actually sneezing less and definitely blowing my nose less. I will never use this drug again! I will use my ACV in water; netti pot and saline! Can't wait for the dizziness to go away :-( ! | F | 61 | 8 months | 7/8/2009 | 2 | congestion/allergies | blurry vision, anxiety, fast pulse, heart beating outside my chest. | I was taking for 3 weeks. No problem. Got my refill on my rx and got generic brand. After 3 hours of taking medincine I called 911. I could not see out of my right eye. It was a huge blurr. My heart rate was also very high. Thiswas the worst feeling in the world. I will never take again. | F | 36 | 3 days | 6/30/2009 | 2 | Stuffy Nose | I have had panic attacks in the past - but never more than a few hours. This last panic attack lasted almost 2 days. Flonase only cleared my nose for about an hour or so. | Not certain flonase is the cause - but I wonder if it contributed and helped prolong the anxiety. | M | 32 | 7 days | 6/21/2009 | 3 | cold symptoms; sinus/ear stuffed up | Some relief. Complete loss of smell and taste. This really bothered me. I am discontinuing now and hope the senses come back. There is now no fun in eating anything good tasting. | Don't know why this is not emphasized more when apparently many people experience this. | M | 44 | 5 days | 6/16/2009 | 5 | Year Round Allergies | At first, slight burning and that funny smell. But it does go away with use. | I used to take it daily, now I just take it when I am congested. I am also currenlty undergoing allergy shots. It used to make my nose bleed, but the ENT doc told me its because it is dry and to use a saline nasal gel and that helped a lot! Now no more bleeding and a lot more breathing. | F | 35 | 4 years | 6/7/2009 | 1 | nasal pressure | Lumps on the back of tongue and in throat, soarness of back and neck, anxiety, racing heart rate, frequent nightmares after use. | I would not recommend this for any person, it caused me 10X more problems than it helped me to resolve. | F | 20 | 2 weeks | 6/7/2009 | 1 | Congestion | Insomnia | I took this last year for 2 months with no problems. I would take it at night before bed. Took it 3 days this year, got insomnia. Waited 2 weeks, tried it again for 2 nights, now I haven't been able to sleep for 3 nights. Why do I still have insomnia? I have to take double my dose of ambien to sleep. | F | 55 | 3 days | 6/3/2009 | 5 | nasal allergies | very occasional nose bleed | LOVE THIS! My nose was always congested before, I could never breath at night, used to take decongestants and allergy pills. Now it's like my allergies are GONE !! I never take pills! Plus, I now hardly ever get colds and when I do, I have hardly any congestion, it's wonderful. | F | 52 | 2 years | 5/28/2009 | 5 | seasonal allergies | None. | A great medication. No more stuffy nose and the irritability that goes with it. In the Spring when others are sneezing, I'm not. I don't have a dog, but I can now work with dogs and remain comfortable. | F | 53 | 16 years | 5/18/2009 | 1 | Rhinitis | Increased heart rate; sense of dread; night terrors; motor tics; intermittent moments of rage | The best advice I could give to the potential user of this product is to avoid it entirely. For whatever reason, the pharmaceutical company that makes this product does not want you to be aware of its frightening side effects, and have likely fudged their own "lab" results to make the drug more palatable to the market. I suffer from a mitral prolapse, and the doctor who prescribed this to me said I "shouldn't feel any side effects." The man is lucky I don't seek a malpractice suit. The effects were horrible: momentary euphoria followed by a sense of dread, coupled with dramatically increased heart rate. I feel tired today, and my limbs are twitching. I sincerely hope, for his sake and mine, these effects end with a little more bed rest. | M | 27 | 1 days | 5/18/2009 |
