| 5 | Allergies | For the first 2 days I had a very slight burning sensation. After that, no side effects at all. | A friend of mine was prescribed this medication and had very good results, so I asked my doctor and he agreed that I should try it. Prior to that, I had been taking Allegra, which also worked well for me but not as well as Flonase. You can get this medication for way less money from Canadian pharmacies. I recommend northwestpharmacy.com where you can get 3 bottles for 45 bucks. Follow the instructions carefully and don't take it for extended periods if you don't need to (outside of allergy season, for instance). Tell the doctor if you have side effects. | M | 58 | 8 years 2 sprays 2X D | 5/3/2013 | 4 | Chronic non-allergic rhinitis | None. I was quite surprised to see the reviews from so many people who had multiple harmful side effects. | Because even the generic form is expensive, I cut the dosage down from two sprays per nostril twice a day to one spray per nostril per day before going to bed. It still works well for me at that level. | M | 61 | 20 years 50mcg 1X D | 5/3/2013 | 4 | Severe allergies, year round | Absence of itchy/stuffy/runny nose and sneezing. Yay!! | F | 30 | 2 weeks 60mg | 4/26/2013 | 3 | Allergies | Day 2: Dry/chapped skin around my mouth, swollen lips (although not noticeably visible) and feel light headed or funny. My allergy symptoms I had since Saturday poofed (runny nose present), but after given Flonase yesterday, I began experiencing allergic reaction to the sprayer itself this evening. | Flonase has the smell between honey + flowers = strong odor = nauseous feeling. My doctor suggested spray once in the morning and once in the evening during first 3 days, help jump start my treatment. Suggested to use it everyday for 3 months until flu season ended. Flonase isn't the right allergy med for me either due to the mild allergic reaction to the spray itself, but cured the scratchy sore throat, sneezing, congestion, cough, sinus pain although running nose remains. | F | 31 | 3 months 50 MG 2X D | 4/25/2013 | 1 | Allergies | Heart Palpitations, Anxiety, Dry/Sore Nose, Nosebleeds, Acne, Mouthsores, Immune System Dropped (I have gotten sick about 3 times while on it.) | Aside from an allergy problem that I have been dealing with since childhood, I am pretty damn healthy. Anxiety disorder does seem to run in my family, but I hadn't had a panic attack for years until I started the Flonase. My immune system seemed to suffer as well because I felt like I was always getting sick! I didn't really think it could be the Flonase causing all these sudden health issues until I got online and found out multiple people have experienced the same side effects. Allergies suck, but I don't think this is the right medication for me. | F | 26 | 3 months 50 1X D | 4/5/2013 | 1 | Nasal allergies | Insomnia, took at bedtime and my eyes popped open 2 hours after administration. Vivid dreams, muscle twitching, acne (noticed on day 4) anxiety, rapid heartbeat. Ankle pain on day 4 (sprained ankle 6 weeks ago and the pain had completely resolved) | My nose was inflamed from allergies and it feels like I injected steroids straight into my system. I'm so glad I took this because my 10 year old is on it and I had no idea that these were possible side effects as they were not listed on the insert or the pharmacy handout. I'm extremely sensitive to medications and have had life threatening reactions/ allergies to 3 medications. Almost mentioned my sensitivity to the doc but didn't. Won't make that mistake again! My child and I will be switching to the Neti pot. | F | 46 | 4 days 50 mg 1X D | 4/1/2013 | 5 | Allergies | F | 37 | 2 years 2x | 3/24/2013 | 1 | Sinuses | High anxiety and tiredness. Fatigue, crazy dreams...will never take again..ever!! | F | 36 | 2 weeks 50mcg | 3/13/2013 | 5 | Allergies | None | This stuff has helped me tremendously! I have been so miserable for years - - take daily Zyrtec or Clariten but they were never enough. This spray was a godsend for me - it cleared up my runny nose/congestion/sneezing very quickly. I feel SO much better! These other reviewers must be super-sensitive......you'd think it was some kind of hallucenagenic or something - just a steroid spray and it works great for regular peeps w/bad allergies. | F | 54 | 1X D | 2/27/2013 | 5 | Severe allergies | I used flonase for at least 6 years and didn't notice any side effects until about one year ago. I began to have a sharp, stabbing pain in my eye. The eye doctor said nothing was wrong. Finally, about a month ago, I was reading the insert and there it was ! The fact that it can cause eye pain. I stopped using it and so far the eye pain has stopped. I MISS MY FLONASE! | Unlike some people here, I won't blame flonase for every physical ailment I have ever had. One person swears that after using it one time they now have a "hole" in their nose, one woman says it gave her breast cancer. Sure.... This medicine kept me from having severe allergy attacks on a constant basis for at LEAST 6 years so I have benefitted from it tremendously. It kept my seasonal allergies (which for me are year-round) at bay. If you only use it one day and claim it didn't clear your nose, then you have no clue how it actually works. I just PRAY that I can find something that works like the flonase did for the first five years! I felt like a normal person for the first time. I am allergic to everything from dust to animals to everything that grows in nature. You have to use it for a period of time for it to take effect people! | F | 50 | 6 years 50 mcg 1X D | 2/25/2013 | 1 | severe allergies | Immediately after taking one spray in each nostril, I wanted to cough. Tickling in throat continued for rest of night. Took second dose 12 hrs later and felt nauseated, tired, and had pressure right between my eyes-like someone sitting on my head. Stomach very upset, kept belching after I ate soft foods, had severe runs the next day with abdominal pain. Did not take any more after second dose. I HATE THIS STUFF! It also felt like someone poured a bottle of perfume up my nose, the fragrance is so strong. | F | 1 days 50 mcg 1X D | 2/10/2013 | 1 | sinusitis | sleeplessness, high anxiety, vivid dreams, itchy eyes, funny taste in mouth, burning under eyes, all started on 5th day of use | Lol! I thought is was going nuts with my side effects until i started reading that others were having the same. | M | 33 | 6 days 50mcg 1X D | 2/6/2013 | 5 | allergies | Great! Gets rid of that pressure on my head Awful pain | F | 36 | 6 years 50mcg yr | 1/22/2013 | 1 | sinus post nasal drip | WOW!! this medication belongs to my 5 yr old. I tried it using the same dosage I give him. I used it at night. Not only did it worsen my congestion, but it caused severe insomnia. I fell asleep twice, but woke within a few minutes from nightmares that involved swat teams killing everyone. I was mean to my husband. I finally dragged myself out of bed because the resulting headache without the ability to sleep it away made me miserable. | My son never seems adversely affected. I realize this is more for allergies than a viral infection. I tried this out of desperation. My research has revealed that these side affects tend to occur more in women over 30. If you're acting or feeling nuts or off it's the Flonase. Stop immediately. | F | 37 | 1 days 1X D | 1/12/2013 | 2 | Nasal polyps; deviated septum | extreme anxiety; muscle tightness; jitters; suicidal thoughts; insomnia | So I had initially started Zetonna (another corticosteroid) for my sinuses in preparation for an upcoming surgery (which was delayed a bit longer than a month... wish I hadn't delayed it) and I almost IMMEDIATELY started to get anxiety. I just chalked it up to stress from work and variou slife changes. My insurance switched me over to Flonase for money reasons, and I dutifully switched over. The drug is effective -- my sinus symptoms have been virtually nonexistent since I started the drug. However, I've recently found that I have episcleritis, and was prescribed topical prednisone for my eyes. After taking my first few doses, it felt like the anxiety that I had been experiencing was multiplied by 100; then I suddenly realized: my anxiety really all began when I started the nasal steroids! After a quick google and finding this site, I'll be immediately throwing this garbage out and never using it again. I'd honestly rather be in facial pain then feel like I'm about to jump out of my skin and/or lose my mind. Keep in mind that I'm very sensitive to medications, typically, but definitely be cautious and LISTEN TO YOUR BODY before you use any medication for an extended time. | M | 27 | 3 months 50 mcg 2X D | 12/17/2012 | 1 | Sore Throat/Supposed Allergy | Bloody nose the second day. Why I continued is beyond me. I don't even have allergies. I also started with anxiety and fear that I have never experienced. And it continues. My life is not the same and neither am I. | I urge those who are given this drug to ask why and think about the risks. My life has been a living hell since I took this drug and I know I did not need it. I don't know why I didn't just use something else for my throat, I was misdiagnosed at an urgent care and my biggest mistake was continuing the drug and not calling the Urgent Care doctor. I now have floaters, loss of visual acuity which I will be checking on as well as needing to see a Retinal Specialist in January. I am on anti-depressants and anxiety medications which cause other lovely side effects to your body. I was a healthy, happy 54 year old on April 20th, 2012. I will forever regret the day I went to that clinic. I know I am responsible for not following up or calling a pharmacist or the doctor about the first sign of trouble, but still, this drug is extremely dangerous and should be very carefully given out to patients only if they really need it. I also ended up in ER 3 times, all the time not know what was wrong and completely losing my mind. Hopefully, I will not lose my sight as well. I feel I am paying for some Karma or something else I have done in the past to have this happen. It hurt me, it hurt my family, it hurt my friends and I almost lost my job. So, please do NOT take this drug unless under a good doctor's care and constant watch for side effects and other issues. I wouldn't wish this nightmare on my worst enemy. An interesting story on steroids from Jane Pauley is on Google. Look it | F | 54 | 5 weeks 2X D | 12/12/2012 | 1 | Allergies | It helped with the allergy. However, I immediately felt like a completely different person and had bizarre, anxious thoughts. Thankfully, I only took two doses before I realized this was related, and I stopped immediately. I also had colorful nightmares for a few nights, and I had an intense feeling of anxiety (I have no history of anxiety or bizarre moods). Two days after I took it, my nose began to expel large blood clots. The effect on my mindstate was completely new and completely unacceptable. I would not take this medication again. I recommend that anyone taking this pay close attention to their mental state. | F | 38 | 1 days 2X D | 11/28/2012 | 1 | Severe allergies | Terrible anxiety, nervousness, dizziness, migraines, episodes of blurry vision. Also, had some blood after blowing nose. | I've taken flonase for roughly the past year and a half. Initially, it was a miracle drug as it prevented my constant sneezing and blowing of my nose. But I guess the onset of symptoms was slow for me. A month or so after, I would sometimes feel nervous for no reason. But it was so infrequent and mild, I didn't pay it any mind. Then I started to have mild panic attacks but never attributed it to the flonase because it was months after I started taking it. Then I started getting them often and felt extremely nervous most of the time for really no discernible reason. Sometimes, it would pass and I would feel so happy to just feel like myself. I never had any kind of mental illness in my life so I went to the Dr, he said I am having panic attacks and he gave me some anti anxiety meds, which help with the symptoms but not the cause. It got to the point where I was being crippled with anxiety almost everyday. A week or so ago, I took my daily 4 sprays then went into my living room and started a convo with my roommate and had a severe episode. This made me realize the connection. So I stopped taking the spray and the episodes started to subside immediately. It's been almost 2 weeks since I've taken it...I still feel anxiety sometimes just not nearly as severe and not constantly. I also noticed that at times I would have blurry vision. I chalked it up to just getting older (I'm 30) although I used to have perfect 20/20 vision. I would also experience a dizzy or heavy feeling | M | 30 | 18 months 1X D | 11/10/2012 | 5 | Severe Allergies | I've never experienced side effects while on this drug, and I have been taking it for longer than most. I'm extremely active, workout regularly, and maintain a healthy lifestyle. | I hope others can benefit from this drug, because it really does work! | M | 29 | 12 years 50mcg 1X D | 11/8/2012 | 1 | Sinus pressure | Awful anxiety. Never had this problem before at all. Depression, stomach 'issues'...all over constant body tingling. Feeling hyper like just drank 20 red bulls. Insomnia. Went to ER with an anxiety attack. Felt like something worse. Now i only wish someone can tell me when this ends since drs really dont believe its a possible reaction. Very frustrating! | F | 36 | 10 days 50 mcg | 11/5/2012 | 1 | allergies | I think we all should throw money together and run an advertisement against flonase im recovered i think i dont feel crazy anymore its been almost a year for me | M | 32 | 10 days 2x | 11/5/2012 | 4 | Chronic allergic rhinitis | Thought I'd share my positive experience due to so many negative reviews. I've been taking Flonase for 3 months. 2 sprays in each nostril once or twice a day. It's really helped clear my sinuses and help me breathe. Only side effects are some post nasal drip, slight rebound effect if I use it too much. I suspect people w anxiety/depression, etc have other underlying issues, but hey everyone is different | M | 29 | 3 months 2-4 sprays | 11/3/2012 | 1 | Pulsating in right ear | Tightening in chest and chest pain, severe anxiety , dizziness to the point where I almost fainted, crying spells. Panic attacks, insomnia, shortness of breathe | I was rushed to the ER because of severe chest pains! Do not take this medicine!! I have been off it for a day now but still have the anxiety that hopefully will pass. I have no history of health problems so this was very scary! | F | 30 | 1 weeks 2X D | 11/3/2012 | 1 | Sinus | It put a HOLE inside my NOSE! | It works. I only used it when I needed it, that was probably 1-3 times a month, if that. Sometimes not at all. I just can't believe that it ate through the inside my nose. For me the world has come to an END! | F | 52 | 1 days 50mcg 1X D | 10/23/2012 | 1 | Sinus infection, Allergies | Anxiety, panic attacks, headaches, nosebleeds, high blood pressure, burning in mouth, throat and nasal passages, loss of smell and taste. | After all the side effects I still had sneezing, itchy nose and runny nose. Worked for the first few days, then stopped and made me feel crazy. Doctor told me it was just anxiety and prescribed an anti-depressant. Symptoms didn't stop until after I stopped taking the flonase. I am still having sinus pressure, but i'd rather just try to live with it. | F | 34 | 20 days 50 mcg 1X D | 10/22/2012 | 2 | post nasal drip, congestion | I have totally lost my sense of smell. | F | 61 | 2 months 50 MCG 1X D | 10/11/2012 | 1 | Nasal allergies | Palpitations, anxiety, increase in BP, nasal perforation, headache | I WOULD NEVER use a nasal steroid again! It does more harm than good and i am feeling tons better since i am off it. Go to the beach(or get a netipot) and let the natural salt water do its job where sinus and allergies are concerned. The people inventing these drugs should do a self test before putting others on it. | F | 36 | 3 weeks 50mg 1X D | 9/30/2012 | 3 | inflamed nostrils | Nausea, headache, stomach ache, severe fatigue, lethargy, moderate insomnia, backache. | Side effects were random, but pronounced. Some days were fine, others were downright awful. Even reducing the dose to one spray per nostril per day didn't ward off side effects. The medicine did work, and perhaps my system would better tolerate it after a few months, but it's too difficult to work each day on only a couple of hours of sleep, especially when all the other side effects would be strong. The severity of the effects varied each day. Most days were mild, but many were too severe to justify using the drug on a regular basis. | M | 57 | 3 weeks 1X D | 9/27/2012 | 1 | sinus infection | Anxiety, tightness in chest and arm. Thought something was really wrong and I am only 20. The doctor never mentioned possible side effects. Forget ever using this product again, will go the natural path way with a neti pot. | M | 20 | 20 days 50mcg 1X D | 9/20/2012 | 1 | Allergies | Anxiety Chest tightness Shortness of breath Crying arm pit, back and shoulder pain. | I took the Kirkland/Costco Claritan equivalent in conjunction with Flonase for approx 2 months and it helped with my allergies for sure. After one month I noticed a little wheezing and had a chest xray done at my annual physical that was normal After bout 1 1/2 months the side effects really kicked in and I had chest tightness, shortness of breath, unknow origin crying spells and anxiety. It scared the hell out of me and I ended up going to a cardiologist because I thought I was having a heart attack. All the tests were normal. I went to 2 cardiologists and neither of them paid much attention to me putting down using Claritin in my medicine history. On my own I decided to discontinue the medications and my symptoms for the most part have subsided within 4 days. I still feel slightly anxious today on day four after stopping the meds and a little dizzy, however I feel I will be back to baseline with a few days to a week. This website helped me realize I wasn't dying and it was a serious bad reaction to an allegedly safe drug. If you take Claritin, pay close attention to the side effects and if you feel them coming on slightly, stop taking it immediately. My wife takes the medication for approx 6 months with no issues. | M | 46 | 2 months 50MG 1X D | 9/13/2012 | 1 | Chronic sinus problems | Lose of smell. Terrible couch and wheezing like I have never felt! Stay away from the flonase! I hope I return to preflonase days! 4 days since I quit and counting.... | Suppressing a gland that is already suppressed is not a good long term care solution for a chronic problem. Please consider reading about steroids BEFORE using them. | M | 42 | 14 days 1X D | 9/9/2012 | 4 | seasonal allegies | rapid heart rate, feel heart beats, chest pain, stress, Wonderful for my allergies though. best thats ever worked on my ragweed allergy. so bummed on the side effects. will stop use :( | how can it be so good for my allergy relief .& so terrible for me arrghhh frustrated | F | 43 | 45 days 2X D | 9/8/2012 | 1 | For ear congestion and sinus | Severe anxiety, panic attacks and dizziness, insomnia. | I do not recommend this medicine to anyone that has any sort of anxiety or depression! Terrible side effects, worse than prednizone. | F | 43 | 2 days 1X D | 8/10/2012 | 1 | Nasal allergies | Extreme anxiety attaks, unable to take a deep breath, burning skin, and uncontrollable shaking | I would not wish Flonase on my worst enemy. My first experience was about a week afterIi started it I was rushed to the hospital unable to breathe with an extreme panic attack, they kept me overnight and sent me to ta heart specialist for a stress test. The next event was about a week later and this time I went to my family Dr. who said their is now way it could be the Flonase and prescribed me nerve pills and antidepresants. i want to add that I am a very active healthy person and I have now been of the Flonase for 3 days and have stopped the other medication the Dr. prescribed. I am doing better everyday more people need to know about these horrid side effects. | F | 39 | 2 sprays 1X D | 7/31/2012 | 1 | Sinus Infection | CONTINUEING OF MY STORY - And now it being Day 12 on being off this LIFE DESTROYING nasal drug I am feeling 100 % better. AMEN ! And all the terrible symptoms I mentioned are fading away pretty fast. Boy did I LEARN a LESSON . I am now on a Strict Live Green Vegetable Diet, Very Low Sugar , No Meat except Fish and i've become . If people could eat like our Grandpa and Grandma Adam and Eve, we would be living in a Healthy World. | And Let Me add to this Story....... My Mom passed away at 62 years of age on May 30th 2011. She was also on another Nasal Spray that I believe what caused her to have a heart attack and die. And She and I both was on Antibiotics, which is another horrible story. Antibiotics do kill bacteria, but they also kill the GOOD BACTERIA in your Body and that cause health problems like Fungus Infection /Candida Yeast Infection in the Body. THESE DRUGS SHOULD BE BANNED !!!!! Please WARN others about these dangerous drugs. GODJESUS BLESS , Greg | M | 43 | 10 months 50 1X D | 7/31/2012 | 1 | Nasal Infection Allergy | Terrible Anxiety, Nervousness, Rapid Heart Rate, High Blood Pressure, Tight Chest,Tingling in Left side of my body from Head to Toes, Couldn't Sleep, Heart Missing a Beat,Ringing in Ear, Depression, Suicide Thoughts | Terrible Anxiety, Nervousness, Rapid Heart Rate, High Blood Pressure, Tight Chest,Tingling in Left side of my body from Head to Toes, Couldn't Sleep, Heart Missing a Beat,Ringing in Ear, Depression, Suicide Thoughts I was prescribed Flonase (also called Fluticasone) by a Doctor. She gave me NO WARNINGS about this medication. Two Days after I took 1 spray in each nostril per day I came down with a ANXIETY ATTACK that I have never experienced in my life time. My Heart was Racing to probably 120 bpm, my head felt like it was going to explode and I couldn't get no calmness. So then I hurried up and called the Doctor and He put me on Xanax. It did help me calm down and get some rest, but I don't recommend to get on this because it can be addictive. Well, as the week went by while being on the Xanax My heart would still keep missing a beat or it would beat 2 times real fast. It shook me up so much I had to lay down and hope and PRAY to JESUS for it to go away. It got so bad I had to call for a Ambulance to take me to the Hospital. This Happened 5 Different times in 2011 to the E.R. I thought I was going to Die everytime this happen. This has never happened to me before ever in my Life time. I haven't been to a Doctor since 1992 and haven't been in the Hospital since 1990 when I had a successful brain operation for my epilepsy and quit taking those anti depressant drugs for epilepsy. I am a Very Health Conscious and Physically Fit Kind of Guy. | M | 43 | 10 months 50mg 1X D | 7/30/2012 | 5 | Allergic rhinitis | Blood when blowing nose sometimes. | I can breath at night if I take it once during the morning and once at night. I am going to try going down to once at night because that is my main problem. | F | 40 | 1 months 50 mg 2X D | 7/26/2012 | 1 | chronic nasal congestion | Extreme anxiety, muscle twitching, insomnia, | I was completely shocked to realize that anxiety is a side effect of Flonase. I've been taking it for 6 months and have been having severe anxiety attacks off and on the whole time. I read the side effects on the drug and of course this isn't mentioned or I would never have taken it. | F | 45 | 6 months 2 sprays 1X D | 7/25/2012 | 1 | Allergies/Sinus congestion | Could not sleep. Nightmares. Excess worry. Loss of smell. | I used a generic of this drug. Same thing. Same effects. As far as I'm concerned, all drugs are bad. These are inhaled steroids and have the same effects as any kind of steroids, inhaled, ingested, or otherwise. Some medications are even MORE absorbed when inhaling them in. I would rather suffer with sinus congestion. My Naturopath told me this medication can thin the mucous membrane and cause nose bleeds (among many other things). My advice to others, don't take this. | F | 45 | 3 days 30 mg 2X D | 7/24/2012 | 3 | Seasonal allergy | vision loss | works very well on allergies, I was very happy until retina specialist said it was the cause of fluid buildup under retina causing vision loss and ordered to stop taking. Now I can only hope I get my vision restored. | M | 54 | 18 months 50mcg 1X D | 7/20/2012 | 3 | post nasal drip due to allergies | For my 8-9 year old son. At first it was great - really cleared up his throat clearing and drippy nose. About a month in, though, he started getting anxiety attacks. He's always been a little anxiety prone, but this was worse: dizzy, heart racing, etc. I thought it was just due to school issues. But then school let out for summer. Anxiety continued, plus, moodiness! Depressive moods would strike where he couldn't say what was wrong, but just be in tears. And he's always been such a happy kid. And then weird mouth grimacing-like twitches. My husband suggested in might be the flonase. I took him off it right away. Next day, every symptom improved by 50%! Within the next few days he seemed normal again. When his nasal drip problems returned a week later, I thought I'd try the flonase less often, maybe a couple times a week. I gave him a dose, and then two days later the grimacing started to come back. I think I am done with the flonase. It's scaring me. I'd rather have him with a | Works good for what it was made for. I don't know if it should be used in children though. | M | 9 | 2 months 50 mc 1X D | 7/15/2012 | 3 | Allergies, Asthma, Post Nasal Drip | Muscle twitching/spasms, sleepless nights, excessive worry | The muscle twitching freaked me out and I am not sure its the Flonase but after reading some posts, I stopped as of today. I am really freaked out about the spasms and hope they go away soon. It did help my post nasal drip and ability to breathe but its not worth the trade off. | F | 44 | 8 days 2 Sprays 1X D | 7/14/2012 | 1 | SORE THROAT/ALLGERY-post nasal drip | Bloody Mucus from nose, but went away after a week. It did seem to help my throat, but I had started coughing about one or two weeks after beginning the medication. I also had a burning sensation in my trachea that has diminished, but now moved up to my throat, mouth, nose with eye dryness. My sense of smell is different and taste as well, almost like a sharp, metallic smell and taste. Because of the cough, I needed a Chest x-ray which showed two small nodules in right upper lung. Now, a little after two months of starting the medication, I have all the symptoms of Acid Reflux. I also was very agitated in the beginning and since I tend to worry, I didn't think much of it. I still am not sleeping right, but this might be from the worry. But I hope it is not the medication. | I will forever regret going to the clinic for my sore throat, but it was different and I needed to see someone. I didn't question like I normally do when I was told it was an allergy, since I do not have allergies or have not had them since childhood. I also regret even more that I did not properly read the insert. I thought I had. If the words...loss of smell and taste, cataracts and glaucoma were noticed, I can tell you now I would have NEVER taken this medication. I can only hope that these side effects will diminish and I don't end up with something worse. It breaks my heart every day when I think of how ignorant I was in not asking questions and especially why I didn't ask for something over the counter. I was not on any medications before this and I am 54. In the last two months, I have been on two antibiotics, Singular and now probably Prilosec. All because of a few weeks of Flonase. This medication should be banned!!! | F | 54 | 6 weeks 50 MCG 2X D | 7/6/2012 | 1 | difficulty breathing, swelling | Waiting to see allergist. Bad muscle spasms in 9 year old child. Most recently it clicked and I researched online. Problems breathing intensified. Muscle spasms are awful. Took child to the ER and it is not the heart. | Cannot give any longer to child because while off the medication the spasms disappeared but the past two days of restarting it proved to be the worst. Intense jabs in chest, sides immediately after taking it and awful at night - up all night with muscle spasms. | F | 9 | 3 months 2 sprays 1X D | 6/27/2012 | 2 | Tinnitus from Sinus | Anxiety!!, Weak muscles, Decreased or no desire for sex, Fatigue, Headaches. Feeling of being "out of it" | It took 6 weeks for me to find this website. about 4 weeks for me to develop all the side effects listed. I still have the Tinnitus the ENT said was sinus induced. | M | 31 | 6 weeks 50 2X D | 6/25/2012 | 3 | Fluid In Ears | Anxiety, Anger, Irritability, Dizziness (felt drunk), crying spells, shaking, urinary problems, muscle spasms, increased appetite I started taking this for extreme fluid in the ears that were causing my ear drums to retract. Immeditly after taking, i felt the drug working. It seemed to drain my ears pretty well. However, I also noticed the side effects the next day. I became incredibly moody and aggitated. Any little thing would send me into a rage filled crying spell. I decided to bring my dose down to 1 spray in each nostril a day. The side effects lessened but were still there. I also noticed that I was having urinary problems. I fellt like I had a UTI (feeling that I had to go all the time & pressure when I did go) but I was told by the Dr. I did not. I stopped taking this medicine & all the side effects have pretty much dissappeared. I am still experiencing some anxiety but I am feeling much better. This drug helped my ears but the side effects were not worth it. I will ask my doctor for something else next time. | F | 19 | 1 months 2 X Day | 6/15/2012 | 3 | Sinus Allergies | Anxiety. My blood pressure went up a little bit. I'm usually really low. | I've never had panic attacks or anything, and this Med is my first experience with frequent anxiety. It's detrimental to my work. It cures my allergies. In fact, it's the only thing that has cured them in years, and I've tried a ton of allergy pills. I'm extremely disappointed that I may need to stop taking it due to anxiety. I plan to cut back and see what that does. If it's still happening, then I'll have to quit Flonase completely. | F | 36 | 1 months 50 mcg 1X D | 6/13/2012 | 1 | Allergies | Insomnia, anxiety, migrane headaches, dry eyes | Had terrible insomnia where I would stay awake past sunrise and still not be able to sleep even though I have never had problems with insomnia in my life. Felt anxious during the day. Also had a few migraine headaches with visual disturbances. I didn't know what was causing these problems, but the only change in my life was that I started taking Flonase for my allergies. Didn't realize a nasal spray could wreak so much havok until I read complaints online. | M | 31 | 1 months 1X D | 6/13/2012 | 1 | seasonal allergies | Fatigue, unmotivated, lathargic, severe sinus headache, dizzy, bad mood swings. I started taking this a couple of months ago. At first it worked for my allergies so I stopped. I started feeling icky again so I started using it last week. I believe I feel worse than before I started taking it. So I'm throwing that junk straight into the trash can. | F | 26 | 10 days | 6/10/2012 | 1 | asthma/allergies | acid re-flux and nausea (bad), creeping anxiety, tiredness, lethargy | good lord! glad I looked. was taking prednisone for five days. Very bad heartburn. Called dr. and they said it's the pred. Days later, still feel terrible. Thouhgt now, it was the singular as it is new too. Nope, three days later, still nauseated. Taking three different anit-acids, nausea meds. nothing works. also been feeling depressed and anxious. Have a past of depression and anxiety, so this alarms me as I never want to go back to feeling that way! Going to stop and see if it makes a difference. | F | 45 | 2 weeks 2 sprays 1X D | 6/8/2012 | 1 | allergic rhinitis | Unpleasant numbness/tingling in hands and feet, tiredness, decreased ability to concentrate (felt drunk), dry mouth and eyes, partial loss of senses of taste/smell. | Think this company really needs to look into some of these side effects. The tingling hands/feet and limbs keeps popping up in these ratings and yet, when I called my doctor and asked, it is not a recognized side effect. Doctor's response was to just keep taking it. Yeah? Were I to keep taking this drug I would not be functional. Didn't remember half the work I did earlier today and have had to use a Chinese exercise ball in my hand to keep the tingling down as I worked. Flonase will be flowing on to the trash can. Unhappy patient. | F | 32 | 1 days 2 sprays 1X D | 6/8/2012 | 4 | Sinus problems | Joint pain soon after starting this drug. Then I started to feel very tired and unmotivated all the time. I actually didn't like to drive because I felt I wasn't as safe as I would prefer to be. Could not function at work as efficiently as before, and was very concerned about this and the sudden joint pain. Thought I was seriously ill because nothing else in my life had changed, in fact I made sure to eat as well as I could and to take my vitamins every day, hoping to get back to my old self. Only getting off this drug made me feel better. | I only took this product for 5 months. The inital benefits were wonderful, but then as the ingredients in this product started to build up in my body, and my body tried to purge this drug, it started to effect my joints, and then my general feeling of well being. I just felt 'not good' in general. Finallly it hit me one day that all my ailments started just after starting the Flonase. Stopped the Flonase, and now its crazy to say this but everything is back to normal!! | F | 32 | 5 months 1X D | 6/7/2012 | 1 | sinusitus /allergies | headaches everyother day and very bad memory loss, complete space out memory loss never experienced before | did help me breath better through my nose for my allergies but the side efects were brutal | M | 46 | 30 days 2X D | 6/6/2012 | 1 | Sinus pressure | Insomnia, pain in teeth and gums | F | 35 | 2 days 50 mcg | 6/1/2012 | 3 | Allergic Rhinitis | Despite all Doctor's denying it, I get mood swings and depression while using this daily even for 2-3 days in a row. SOme other side effects include, headaches, eye irritation & nasal congestion. | The only way I can use it is by using on alternate days or twice or thrice a week. I generally use it when necessary only. | M | 45 | 2 months 30x2 1X D | 5/26/2012 | 1 | sinus/allergy issues | tightness in chest, difficulty breathing, cough, racing heartbeat, fatigue, anxious, loss of appetite | Took awhile to realize it was the Flonase making me sick. I thought I was in decline due to disease. Flonase is the only med I took as I thought it was "safe." Never again. | F | 54 | 3 months 50mcg 1X D | 5/22/2012 | 1 | Sinus | Our 3 year old began OCD like behavior on this medicine. Obsessivley wiping his nose and sticking out his tongue. He had never demonstrated such behavior before. He says his face itches. We have visited an ent and a neurologist. Our doctor assured us it was not the Flonase. I'm thinking it is! | M | 3 | 3 weeks 1 | 4/28/2012 | 1 | Sinus infection | SEVERE from-temples-to-back-of-the-head headaches; very red, itchy right eye (thought it was pink eye, but kept using eye drops, which cleared it up); nausea; irritable (though usually happy); very tired; unexplained weight gain. The severe headaches, now 2 1/2 days after stopping the drug, are the worst side effect--finding it very difficult to function in daily duties/activities. | I will never take it again. | F | 58 | 2 weeks 50 mcg 2X D | 4/26/2012 | 3 | Inflammation of Respiratory Tract | Sleepiness, always tired | I have been taking it in the morning after breakfast, may be better to take before dinner so the sleep/tired effect comes over night? | M | 29 | 3 days 100 1X D | 4/19/2012 | 1 | swollen throat due to allergies | anxiety, restlessness, slight numbing around mouth and gums, episodes of heart racing | I never has seasonal allergies until recently. After 3 weeks of having sore, scratchy throat and on/off nasal congestion, I called my doctor. She prescribed the generic for Flonase, with 2 sprays per nostril per day. I was also taking a 5 mg Zyrtec ar night and she told me to increase it to 10mg. I started spray and increase Zyrtec on Monday afternoon. By Tuesday 7pm and felt like I was having a panic attack. Restless, jittery, numbing around my mouth-very strange. I walked for an hour in fresh air and then drank 2 glasses of wine and a beer just to calm down! I thought it was the Zyrtec, so I stopped taking it. Didn't even occur to me that it could be the flonase. I took my 2 sprays this morning (Wed) and felt the anxiety and restlessness again within an hour. Starting googling flonase and anxiety and found that many, many people are reporting this. Yikes! I cannot believe that dr or pharmacists done mention this as even a possible side effect. I am going to stop taking it immediately-I'd rather have the scratchy throat. | F | 38 | 3 days 2 sprays 1X D | 4/18/2012 |
