| 1 | UTI | SEVERE upper abdominal pain, doubled over pain that sent pain up into the right side of my neck, ended in ER, thought I was having a heart attack. Had been to my GP that morning, was prescribed Zantac, Zyrtec and Omeprezole for GERD symptoms and for alergic reaction or bacterial infection from rash. BUT I ended up in the ER anyway. Dr there said it was GERD, and in fact with taking the omeprezol I had begun to feel better as I waited for a bed.......at least a little better in my abdomen. But, it still remained a challenge. I also had tons of belching, but that came only when I had started the Omeprezole. Before that I could not get any gas up out of my stomach and had to make myself throw up to get relief. I thought I was dying with pain. SEVERE itching on hands, feet, and over the rest of the body, especially my head, easily contracted a rash breaking out by simply running against something. When the rash and itching were so severe, I had chills, felt completely out of control, almo | DO NOT TAKE THIS DRUG. Day 3, I developed a pale rash on my arms and legs along with the previous symptoms. Day 4, the rash spread to my chest and the other symptoms continued. Day 5, I stopped the macrobid and saw my doctor. My doctor said the UTI had cleared so I could stop the macrobid..He thought the rash was definitely a result of the macrobid, but thought the other symptoms were probably due to a virus I probably picked up. This was quickly followed by chills, lethargy, muscle pain,neuropathy, headache and a general feeling of being sick with the flu. Although I had no fever, I suspected a virus. After 3 weeks of taking the Macrobid once a day, I went to the Dr. who took me off the med. With all the new drugs coming out every day, it would be impossible. Hence, patients should become more proactive about their own treatment. Do the research. Read the very long, very small print about a drug before you take it. Finally, *anyone* who experiences itching or hives should discontinue a drug immediately, and contact their doctor or pharmacist. Back and legs ached, headaches and felt very emotional. | It appears to have done the job intended, getting rid of my infection; however, I am just starting to feel a bit normal from the side affects and this is the third day off.
