1  Anxiety and depression I started off a 20 mg didn't really have any side effects after three weeks I went up to 40, the second day I noticed that my shoulder started hurting and my stomach did not feel right, then I got this awful bloating feeling I could barely sit down or stand up I had to lay down it was so bad, call the doctor stopped it and 2 days later I was okay again, it was something like an enlarged spleen it was just pressure through my stomach and all over it was a terrible feeling M 63 21 days

1  Bipolar II Intense crying, feeling insane Today I cried for 5 hrs straight, and I mean uncontrollable sobbing. I'm the kind of person that never cries and I definitely dont let anyone see me cry but it's like every thought I have is bringing me to tears. I'm agitated, I feel lost like indont know who I am any more. I feel crazier than ever before. Isnt this stuff supposed to calm me down. I'm not taking it to right and will never again. I recently just came off of vraylar which did the same thing. Idk what to do any more F 29 4 days

4  Bipolar Depression Haven't had ANY side effects until now. It makes me throw up if I don't take it with a large meal, which they warn you about. Now I cannot sleep because my head will not stop moving when I try to lay down to sleep. It's the most bizarre thing. The worst part is that this may not quit, even if I stop taking the Latuda. This drug literally has been a lifesaver. I attempted suicide two weeks before being prescribed Latuda. This drug saved my family and my marriage. We were on the brink of falling apart, and now my family and my marriage could not be healthier. The mere thought of stopping this drug has my husband terrified. He cannot accept the mere thought of the "old me" returning if I stop taking this drug. I do fine if I miss two days of taking Latuda. On day three, outbursts begin to develop. F 49 4 years

3  Social ANxiety, Mood On 20 mg I felt tired after taking it, so I moved my dose until after dinner. When I went up to 40 mg, I felt very restless (I don't know how to explain it), and I took Benadryl to offset the restlessness. I didn't want to have to take Bemadryl every day, so I went down to 20 mg. F 35 1 months

2  Bipolar II More depressed, no libido, flat affect, insomnia First, I'm not even sure I have bipolar depression. It sure feels like straight up depression. I was initially prescribed 20 mg and it seemed to work great. Just a few weeks in, however, my depressed mood came back with a vengeance. The dosage was adjusted upward, eventually hitting 80 mg, and then back down to 60 mg. I'm still very depressed and have zero libido. Like any psych drug, it's hard to know what's going on. Is the drug not working or is it making things worse? I'm hoping that we will try something new. M 44 3 months

5  Borderline personality/Dysthymia Euphoria, agitation I think that the pharmas company are trying to put Latuda down. I'm a kinesiologist and naturopath from Canada, it's not normal that I'm the only one that takes Latuda, Prozac, Adderall XR, lamictal and zopiclone. Everyone, all my clients, people in detox therapies, are on Seroquel and citalopram (celexa) or Lexapro (cipralex in Canada). It makes them lazy, they miss apointments, they dont want to exercise and stimulant users relaps. I think that they are trying to make a zombie nation so the richs get more rich. I'm wide awake, hyperfuntional, stable mood, sense of well-being. It's the kind of med that you need to adjust the dosage depending on the months. Sometimes 20 mg is enough, and sometimes i need 40 mg. M 39 4 months

5  Bipolar Depression I am not able to be in areas that temps seem to be above 76F for prolonged times. I loose breath if I take a hot shower, if it’s hot outside, I tend to stay inside. No other side effects ever experienced. This medication has saved me from my manic depression issues whereas I would stay in bed for a week and a half, not even worrying if I showered. No weight gain and have a sexual drive. I started at 40MG and over 2 years, increased to 160MG. M 35 2 years

1  Bi-polor and depression I was prescribed latuda by the VA for my Bi-polor and depression from PTSD.Two weeks later I was in such a bad state that the people in my complex called for a wellfare check. When the EMT's and police came they thought I was on drugs.Ive never done drugs a day of my life. They handcuff me and took me to a local drug detox center for a 48 hour hold. They said I was lucky not to go to jail. When I was bearly coherent they asked me what I was on.i said the VA prescribed me latuda. They didn't believe me and did a drug screen. They said it was inconclusive. The 48 hour hold became a month. The VA had to intervene to get me released. When I got home my three cats were dead. These were my companion/therapy animals. These were my only friends because my ptsd makes leaving home impossible.I laid on the floor and cried for what seemed like hours.I contemplated suicide.Ended up at the VA phyc ward. Two months later I'm home and still having bad side effects.I'm so depressed.Worst time in my life and I've been deployed nine times to Iraq and Afghanistan.Im 50.  1  Chronic major depressive Wow where to begin.. first this medication is incredibly expensive even with insurance! Side effects started with a little dizziness and vomiting. By the time I demanded to be taken off I had been hospitalized one, had at least 3 *That I know of* black outs. Where I lost 2-3 days, didn't know what was going on but my husband once found me shuffling down the middle of a road in my pajamas in the middle of the day. I overdosed on my other medications, Why? I dunno! I don't remember but my hubby recorded me acting like a drugged up druggie. Eyes glazed over, mumbling, swaying. He had to have family babysit me so he could go to work. One night, 11pm, I decided I needed to go to work right then. In the pouring rain, in my pajamas, my 13 year old daughter had to run out in the rain and track me until my husband could get involved. Been off it for 3 months almost all the side effects are gone, except Tardive dyskinesia, yes my body and limbs randomly jerk, violently, for no reason. All parts of my body. Very difficult to drive safely when your head decides it needs to look over the right shoulder, right now! Be very very careful taking this medication. Way more trouble than it helped. Oh I also gained 20 pounds and can't seem to lose them. F 41 6 months

1  BPD, Bipolar elevated hr, restless legs, flushed skin, itchy scalp, nausea/dry heaves, yawning w/o tiredness, teeth clinching, crying w/ no trigger or cause I was off all meds for a year when a all new low hit. (Medicated on and off for 20 years)I forgot why I had quit taking this when my dr asked. The first night, I felt intense fear. Of what? Idk. I live alone and thought I was going to die of side effects. Thinking I was being “dramatic”, I took klonopin to calm me down which I’d also been off of a year. My mom called to check on me and I couldn’t even answer the phone because I literally felt I could not speak as if I had no voice. I basically had to use breathing techniques and lay in bed and try to “sleep it off”. Next day, dr says 1/2 pill to make it 20 mg. I don’t eat much normally. I was driving down the road, gagging and began to dry heave. I had to pull over. Realized I didn’t know what time it was or where I was going. I’m done with this. I work in medical field where I cannot afford to experience these effects. Very DANGEROUS MED!! F 35 2 days

3  Bi-polar, Type 2 Horrible nausea; "High"-like inability to sit down; slight leg tingling. I really wish it would have worked. I hope they can figure out how to lessen side effects, especially the nausea. I could only withstand three days because the nausea was so bad by day three, it was like dealing with hyperemisis gravidarium all over again (horrific morning sickness, which I had while pregnant). I also experienced the side effect of being unable to sit down, which is apparently considered somewhat serious but I didn't know it... I got a lot done by day two, which I hadn't been able to do in months from my depression. TOOK AWAY MY APPETITE!!! - Would have loved to see how that may have helped. At night I had a slight tingle in my legs night two and three. Two and a half weeks later and I still have the same nausea that I experienced days two and three and I'm wondering how long it will take to go away because it is supposed to exit one's system by now (not pregnant and otherwise healthy, aside from the BP, of course).
