5  Depression, bipolar depression Slight hypomania, brief nausea in the beginning before I learned to take it with dinner This is a really good medicine specifically for bipolar depression. It touches and treats my bipolar depression in a way almost no other antipsychotic or antidepressant does. Very few side effects even at the maximum 160 mg dose (two 80 mg pills a day). Absolutely zero weight gain, no effect on libido, and helps me get up out of bed and on with my day. I believe it is more effective than Seroquel for depression and has a much more tolerable side-effect profile. M 37

4  bipolar deprssion and ptsd the only side effects I've been on the med is increased anger, at first. after a few weeks of taking it I got better. I recently had to increase my dosage, but that has helped me also. I don't recommend this medication to anyone with nervous problems that cause you to figit, because it could increase and get worse. however, I do recommend if you want to feel better while your depression has worsened.  4  Schizophrenia/Bipolar Since my previous post I am still taking Latuda and haven't had anything to drink at all. I have also been hospitalized twice since my last post. I will probably be taking medication for the rest of my life. I used to work full-time in the medical field and owned a house before I became sick so a lot has changed. Now I have my life centered around God, going to church groups, and being active in my church. My weight is still higher than it was without taking it. It helps to be involved with group fitness and doing something outdoors weekly. F 33

1  Bipolar 2, depression I have been on and off Latuda for the past two and a half years. Each time I am put on it, I find I have more problems. I experience anxiety, restlessness and I am extremely irritable. I feel as though someone put a huge weight on top of my head and I cannot look up (I can, I just feel like I cannot). I was recently admitted to the hospital for chest pain. I did not have a heart attack and my stress test was fine. Chest pain is one of the side effects listed for Latuda. I asked my doctor to cut my dose and she did, but not very willingly. I have gained a large amount of weight and most of it is in my waist--weight gain in this area of the body is associated with increased risk of heart disease. I am scared that I will get tardive dyskinesia and that it will not go away once I am off the medication. I am going to insist my doctor take me off this medication or exercise my right not to take it. I think the drug companies need more transparency about these types of medication. They need be upfront about these medications help or do not help. They need longer studies to assess what the drug does to people. And health insurance companies need to step up and question whether someone really needs to be on these medications before be so willing to pay for them. Too many people are overmedicated or incorrectly prescribed these types of medication. Way too many. F 61

4  OCD, Major Depression, Anxiety Extremely tired (had to take before bed), nausea, vomiting, weight gain It helped tremendously with intrusive thoughts and depression, but the vomiting became too much. It was too much stress on my body I took it off and on for a year and a half before I decided that it was time to switch. F 26 0 days

5  Depression, Bipolararity Slight akathesia (feelings of inner restlessness) for an hour after taking the pill I'm on week two of Latuda and it has been the best med for sure so far. I have severe OCD, anxiety disorder(s), ADHD, and what the psychiatrist calls "bipolararity" (racing thoughts, irritability, moodiness) - which could just be symptoms of severe anxiety or something different on there own. After trying just about every psych med made, Latuda has been the best. I take this in combination with 300mg Luvox and 40mg Vyvanse. Within a week the "impending doom" depressed feeling lifted and I felt more motivated to do things that needed to be done (versus feeling overwhelmed by the thoughts and OCD). Often times I felt so overwhelmed I would just go to bed but I now feel optimistic about things and am doing things that would normally send me to bed depressed and overwhelmed, I find it easier to talk to people also as I feel my generalized anxiety has been significantly reduced. I use to have "Sunday dread" fearing the upcoming week but that has since become much more tolerable. All other antipsychotics I couldn't stay on because of weight gain or any of the other awful side effects. Bless this drug. M 17 1 days

2  Bi-polar schizoaffective disorder Incredibly sleepy after the first dose. Relative calm after I woke, flu-like achiness and a generalized headache. Had more initial side effects when I started Lexapro than with Latuda. I am hoping that others will post their experiences with Latuda who have been on it longer than one day. I can't say much more about it at the moment, will post again in a few weeks. F 38 1 days

2  Bipo2, depression I've only taken one pill and I'm already noticing akathisia, I don't stay put at all and do a thousand things at once. I also find that I am more anxious. Feels like im in drugs. (Google translation) I hope these side effects go away or are just a placebo. I have already tried so many different medicines that I am starting to get really bored and anxious about this situation. I hope this medicine helps me. F 31 1 days

1  Insomnia My face got locked with an open mouth. I was making all kind of involuntary movements. I couldn't pee. I was making involuntary sounds. My eyelids had a droopy look. Red eyes. I couldn't stop pacing. I started to have suicidal thoughts. I was crying loudly with a feeling of despair and desperation. I kept coughing involuntary. My heart and pulse were fast. The worst feeling. I took charcoal pills, cilantro pills , magnesium citrate and lots of water with lemon and slowly the side effects were diminishing. Is an evil pill M 33 1 days

1  BIPOLAR Akathisia: A movement disorder characterized by a feeling of inner restlessness and a compelling need to be in constant motion as well as by actions such as rocking while standing or sitting, lifting the feet as if marching on the spot and crossing and uncrossing the legs while sitting. People with akathisia are unable to sit or keep still, complain of restlessness, fidget, rock from foot to foot, and pace. This medicine causes akathisia. I thought it wouldn't beacuse it was so new. Im trying Benadryl first if that does not work I'll have to call my pdoc for Cogentin or Ativan. M 30 1 days

1  Bipolar II Severe nausea, throwing up, "weird/googly" eyes, derealization, drugged, out of it feeling I am livid at my Dr. for pushing this evil, horrible, nightmare drug on me. I have NEVER EVER had this horrible of an experience with any drug EVER. I only took it one day - here it is 3 days later and I am still in hell and suffering horribly from only taking it ONCE. When I woke up yesterday and today, I had severe, scary feelings of derealization from weird, odd dreams I had the night before. My eyes are STILL feeling weird. I still feel drugged. Can't concentrate or remember anything short term. Can't read. Am still slightly queasy. Yesterday was nauseous all day long. Exactly how long will it take for me to feel normal again??? After only taking this horrible drug ONCE and at such a low dose?? I spoke to the nurse the day I took it and she said to just take a half dose that night, because of the horrible side effects. Yeah right. I'd love to see her and my Dr. go through a fraction of what I went through. Then maybe I'd feel a litte better. F 48 1 days

1  BIpolar2,PTSD,Panic Disorder Severe cognitive impairment, De- realization/ personalization. Blurred vision, slow and difficult movement of limbs, weak hands, severe inner restlessness, indigestion, gas, itchy skin, dizzy, cold like symptoms.overall sick feeling. I really wanted this to work. I'm treatment resistant so far to all bi-polar depression meds. Zyprexa worked great but, even with metformin, couldn't keep sugar levels in safe range. Latuda felt like a bad acid trip! The worse symptom was being totally "feelingless and thoughtless" yet having a restlessness that left me running around opening and closing blinds, misplacing things, forgetting to stop washing my face!......awful sick feeling too.
