| 3 | OCD symptoms | Massive weight gain, hyped up | My son has OCD and we tried this medication to help him. He is very active and yet in 2 months time he gained a massive amount of weight. The first day I took it I could see Petechi all over my arms . Had to have several platelet transfusions - immunoglobin transfusions - high does steroids . Bone marrow biopsy showed no reason for thrombocytopenia. Once I had to stay in the hospital for 2 weeks because My platlets were 11! Dr could not figure out what was wrong and wanted to take my spleen out . Yikes - I stopped the Zoloft and have not had that problem since. Swapped from Zoloft to Cymbalta with no side effects or withdrawal symptoms . The doctor from walk in clinic gave Zoloft to her even though she was not being followed by a counselor. She was suffering, reached out for help and was never followed up on. I live in another state and couldn't be there. My heart is forever broken. I miss her so much. | Zoloft and all SSRIs should never be prescribed by a general doctor unless the patient was referred by a mental health specialist that the patient was actively seeing. My friend was strong, smart, confident, loving and loved life. She experienced a horrific trauma and was stuck in devastation and just wanted help for her depression.
