When a 2-year-old sits down and says she is SAD and has a catatonic blank stare when she is usually the vibrant life of the party social butterfly, it is VERY disheartening. | Found information about Zyrtec breaking the Blood Brain Barrier causing drug-induced mental issues. Zyrtec had legal action against them years ago for this EXACT reason and changed the drug to one known to break the barrier with less frequency but it still does. This is just WRONG to put don't he shelves and ruin kids (and Adults) like this. I just stopped the drug and noticed a marked improvement in my baby girl. She still has a stutter, and what seems to be OCD issues. I am now scheduled to see a Neurologist. I wish I had more to share. I can only PRAY and provide any support possible with the HOPE that my kid returns to normal. DO NOT TAKE THIS PRODUCT!!!!! My husband did not think much of it. When he started kindergarten in 2019 we started giving him a pill here and there to help w/ his allergies. Again, we started getting calls from the school that our son was in a blind rage. Unable to control himself. Lashing out at the smallest of things. Displaying OCD traits due to high anxiety (washing his hands until they were red and cracked). One night he spoke to my husband and I telling us he didn't like his face, or hair or himself. It was a very sad moment coming from a child that normally was the happiest kid ever. We felt his pain and were concerned that | Please, don't let your child take Zyrtec. My husband and I spent hours with a counselor questioning our parenting skills. We punished or took away things he loved as a consequence for his bad behavior, which wasn't his faught. We had secured an appointment for our son with a counselor because we felt there was something deeper that we couldn't help him through. Truth is it was the zyrtec as in so many other cases. It's very sad to think doctors think it's ok for this to be prescribed to children. It crosses over the blood brain barrier and creates so may of these side affects. I never post on any sights but feel this experience is so important and how badly medicine affects our children others know about it. We thought it was “tween hormones” at first but she became extremely moody, anxious, fearful, had spasms and just wasn’t herself..to the point where we consulted her pediatrician and took her to a therapist.
