| 1 | acid reflux | migraine headache that lasted 6 days, burping, undigested food, dark urine, thirst, congestion, racing heartbeat | Prilosec caused major migraine headache. I could tell the little bit of food I could get down wasn't digesting. I was bloated all the time. By day 5, urine turned very dark. I am afraid this drug caused liver damage. I have had to stay in bed for 2 days because everytime I get up I throw up. Had blood test and will get the results tomorrow to see about the liver. I have always been healthy, no prescription drugs, low blood pressure, average weight. I believe in natural ways to stay healthy along with a good clean diet. But my GERD symptoms got so annoying, that I had decided to just give it a shot. It was only for 14 days so why not. I researched it and it seemed to be hopeful, plus if the side effects weren't pleasant, then I should be able to still push through for the full 14 days... I thought. So to start off, as for the heartburn and acid reflux getting taken away almost immediately on the first day, the side effects make this drug have you wishing you were off it and back to having heartburn again. Atleast you feel normal and can just pop a tum when things get bad. So, first day taking this, I had zero heartburn and felt normal directly one hour after taking it. I was very pleased. Has no side effects all day. Then on the second day the side effects hit pretty hard in terms of brain fog and anxiety, but I thought I'd just drink a ton of water and push through it to give this a shot, to see if my body adjusted. It actually did. The next 6 days I had almost zero sides besides a lack of appetite here and there and some nausea temporarily. Nothing too crazy. I figured that my body had adjusted to the medication and it was smooth sailing until Day 14. Then that all went out the window when Day 8 hit and it got 100x worse. Every side effect that you see that got reported on here, I ended up getting all in one day. I | one small meal 45 min after taking it and felt so full that I felt like I was going to vomit and that feeling literally lasted like 8-10 hours. Even if I had hunger pains around then, I couldn't even look at food. Then ontop of that, the nausea was extreme. I then realized maybe it was time I had gotten off of it before my body became dependent, making it more difficult to stop. That's how bad this was. Day 8 was the day. Things get worse. Later that night, the extreme anxiety hit and the heart palpitations came with it right when it was time to fall asleep. Meanwhile I'm nauseous as hell and can't eat. So, I can feel myself falling asleep finally and then bam the anxiety mixed in with the heart racing, broke me right of of that rhythm multiple times. I couldn't even think straight due to how bad I was quietly panicking laying next to my fiancé and I am not even close to an anxious person, so this was all new to me and I obviously knew right away that this had to be Prilosec's doing, So, what did I do? I had to unfortunately sit there all night drinking water and feeling this way like I was gonna die in sheer panic. Got zero sleep. I understood what it was and I had my only solution left. Quit taking it. So when I got up for work exhausted as ever, I took the pill pack and trashed it first thing. I've just felt awful: rebound acid, chest pains, heart palpitations, waking up from sleep with my heart feeling like it's RACING. I believe medicine can do any kind of weird stuff and Prilosec has done it for me. I've taken Protonix and Prevacid with zero problems. Weeks 1-2 were the absolute worst by far. I was suffering from every symptom mentioned above constantly. After about a week, I noticed the near constant anxiety, panic, and depression. (never had any of these before pill) tapered off quite a bit. Stomach was on fire like a swallowed lava after I quit taking the pill, my appetite did return and I started to eat again. I lost 15 pounds that first week from not eating and I’m not a big guy. Weeks 2-4 I still had all my symptoms, it’s just they weren’t as intense. The extreme fatigue was gone. I think I had my first day around week 3 where I almost felt good. Week 4-6 Many of symptoms started to disappear and fade. The night sweats were gone. I was sleeping better. Waking up a lot, but at least getting 5-6 hours a night. Sore tongue was gone. Dizziness and brain fog were fading quickly. Burping was gone. Sour stomach, nausea and hot flashes were fading. I was having a few more good days. Week 6-8. All my symptoms were gone or fading. Headaches are gone. My stomach issues are 98% resolved. Months 3-4 The face and arm tingling remained for the next 2 months. I thought I had permanent nerve dame but it just a really long time for them to completely fade away. Feel like I am going slightly crazy. DR Google brings back very little for chills and hot flashes with NO Fever. Thought I might be going through "Man-o-pause" with the hot flashes and feeling hot since I am a middle aged guy. Then I stumbled across this forum and was shocked some of you describing the exact same symptoms as me. Perhaps it is just mere coincidence that many of you are experiencing very similar symptoms. Perhaps I do have something else going on medically that I don't know about. I will continue to investigate with my doctor. It just seems very odd that all this started with this medication when I have never been like this my whole life. I was also coming off of another medicine that I didn't need to take anymore because I wasn't having anymore pains with my gallbladder (Ultram AKA Tramadol). I thought it was due to that. And after being weary of the side effects of coming off the Tramadol, I realized I hadn't done my research on Prilosec. I see now that the Tingling in my hands and feet are due to the Prilosec depleating my body of B12. Although I have been taking 1000MG of B12 for the past 3 days, it obviously hasn't put enough in my body. Unfortunately I had already taken my daily pill before looking here. I will no longer take this medicine.
