| 1 | Gerd | Brain fog, extreme anxiety, right chest, shoulder, back and under arm pain.. can't tell if it's from tension or just pain, hard to describe, bloating, indigestion, weight gain, magnesium deficiency | I quit Prilosec the first time without having any natural tools to combat the rebound (which my doctor did not warn me about when his prescription ended) had severe reflux and esophageal spasms. This drug is a nightmare, cure GERD by increasing stomach acid not lowering it. I was a normal healthy person until I started having severe stomach issues. I went to my GP and he prescribed me Prilosec 20mg twice a day. I started taking this and immediately got a headache which I thought might have been caused by another medication they prescribed me at the same time. Long story short my gallbladder was the problem. I had it removed but was told to continue with the prilosec. STUPID. I have since stopped the drug and I am getting better. SLOWLY, 2 steps forward and 3 steps back it feels like. I am taking b12, D3, and Magnesium. These have helped with the headaches and for the past week I have felt better. I stopped the prilosec about 3 or 4 weeks ago and still have some of the side effects. I really thought i was going crazy, never depressed, never anxious, and typically was in a good mood until i started this hell drug. I wasn't producing enough acid and they still kept me on a PPI?? you have to do your own research and cure yourself if you dont want to be pumped full of medication. Feel free to reach out to me and talk this was/is a horrible time in my life but I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I am more than happy to talk to anyone about my experience. | M | 28 | 8 weeks 20 2X day | 7/13/2018 | 1 | Gastroenteritis | I really regret taking prilosec, i fell ill with a virus last december that caused gastroenteritis (severe acid reflux and diarrhea).. i was told to take omeprazole for 14 day treatment.. at the time i did not experience any side effects so after the 14 day treatment was over, about a week later i experienced acid rebound that sent me to the ER. The er dr said i needed to up the dose to 40 mg 2x/day... and this is when i became more ill.. i had severe diarrhea for 9 days, blurry vision, brain fog, muscle twitching, cramping, body jolts before going to sleep, . i couldnt digest my food.. but i did not know what was happening to me.. i was so sick i had to have a colonoscopy and egd.. i was told i had unspecified colitis.. i stupidly cont this drug bc thats what the drs told me to do.. and as im trying to heal my gut from whatever virus i had i started to develop new symptoms.. extreme brain fog, memory loss, fatigue, anxiety, muscle twitching, buzzing in certain parts of my body.. frequent urination in am. I feel as if i have nerve damage of some kind because of this ppi.. after 4 1/2 months of this posion i have since stopped this med and it has been 11 days but my twitching is still there.. i know this drug caused these other problems bc as i weaned from 40 mg to 20mg to then every other day i began experiencing body jolts and more nerve problems, numbness in certain parts, etc. has this happened to anyone else and did anyone make a full recovery?? I’m also taking a quality multi-vitamin, fish oil, priobiotics, and eating fermented foods. Not sure how long these horrible side effects will last but hoping that I improve soon. I can’t work or take care of my child. I take Celexa for anxiety and depression. I did not consult my physician. I took this med to alleviate temporary GERD symptoms but the side effects were much worse after only 3 days of treatment.
