| 1 | Hiatal Hernia | I started taking Prilosec a few days ago and right away I started experiencing side effects. At first I thought my system had to get use to the medication, but the side effects get worst daily. I have experienced light-headedness, nausea, pain in my private area, problems focusing, appetite changes, tickling sensations in my fingers, itching and depressing thoughts. I do not recommend this medication to anyone. I am going to stop taking it today and go back to taking Zantac twice a day. A year or two before that, a doctor (perhaps over-) dilated the point where food enters the stomach after I had several episodes of trouble swallowing. The Prilosec worked much better than Cimetedine or Tums, but due to insurance considerations, I have been on the generic form for about a year. I am glad to have found this site, as I now suspect some of my troubles may be due to Prilosec. Will start taking supplements, especially melatonin, as there was an article in the San Diego Union Tribune today, Health section, p.7 or 8, saying some tests suggest that 5~6mg of melatonin, plus some supplements (didn't say what) works better than Prilosec in many cases.
