2  Hypertension I took half of a 10 MG tablet every morning along with the Atenolol I am already on. I had to stop taking the medication after just 13 days due to a severe dry cough that developed, accompanied by dizziness, drowsiness, and headache. I was very disappointed, as the medication kept my blood pressure well controlled. F 49 13 days

2  High Blood Pressure Dry cough at first, then gagging to the brink of vomiting. Switched to Hyzaar (Losartan-HCTZ), it was worse after 2 tabs. Worked great until dry coughing started. It did drop my BP to normal levels. M 56 20 days

3  hypertension My blood pressure went down in about three weeks, but I began to cough after about a week and eventually coughed so much and so hard my ribs were sore. I've stopped taking it. I have read in some sources that a cough in these circumstances is often accompanied by other problems that are not so obvious. I'm no expert, but it's worth asking your doctor about if you have a cough from this medication and s/he recommends you continue it anyway. F 65 3 months

3  High blood pressure This medicine was really effective at lowering my bp but I switched to a different medicine because I couldn't handle the COUGHING. I've been on this for 2 years, and the cough creeps up on you. At first it's just a little cough, then builds over time to a dry (no phlegm!) hacking cough that you feel a tickle in your throat that won't ever go away. I was coughing so much and so intensely that I would accidentally vomit if I ate recently, or gag. F 34 2 years
