Disorientation - sometimes I'd have to really strain to remember how to get where I wanted to go. Unusual loss of focus and attention to detail (very unusual for me). She was hospitalized for three weeks, given antipsychosis medications and never improved. When I found a small article about psychosis on this med, I requested she stop taking it. She has lost a month of her senior year of high school, and may still not return for another week or two. My doctor wanted me to start taking this drug as soon as possible. It has worked in lowering my cholestorol numbers, from 284 to 180, but there are so many side effects i didn't expect and that my doctor believes isn't related to the drug, though I know they are. I used to be a normal weight and have gained 15 lbs since i have taken the drug. I also had really bad leg pains on lipitor, so i switched to a generic form of zocor and the pains have mostly gone away. I used to have a lot of energy but now i feel like i have hit a wall and can't concentrate for long periods of time. ZOCOR (SIMVASTATIN): Simvastatin is used along with a proper diet to help lower "bad" cholesterol and fats (such as LDL, triglycerides) and raise "good" cholesterol (HDL) in the blood. It belongs to a group of drugs known as "statins." It works by reducing the amount of cholesterol made by the liver. Lowering "bad" cholesterol and triglycerides and raising "good" cholesterol decreases the risk of heart disease and helps prevent strokes and heart attacks. In addition to eating a proper diet (such as a low-cholesterol/low-fat diet), other lifestyle changes that may help this medication work better include exercising, losing weight if overweight, and stopping smoking.
