| 1 | Endometriosis | Dizziness,anxiety, chills, pain in the neck, shoulder and pelvic areas. | I was feeling well and recovering from surgery. One week after my Lupron injection, I felt worse. The side effects are not worth going through for the next 6 months so I will discontinue this therapy. Ibuprofen is sufficient to relieve my menstrual cramps and there is no way I am going through this rollercoaster. I don't want to disrupt the quality of life, my family and career. It wasn't until I had my second shot that I've had substantial success. For the first time in years I did not have to visit the er to get a shot af narcotics for out of control migraines! They have greatly reduced to just a few, very low on the pain scale and the fact that I have a sinus infection makes me wonder if that may be the culprit. I did discover with the help of my Family care Dr. that there was medication to help with all of the severe mood swings, anxiety etc. She prescribed Zoloft so that my family would not divorce me, and added Ativan o.5 mg. to help the insomnia. My family is now able to live with me and I am a calmer person. Lupron is a very good drug for the symptoms associated with endo, however, I highly suggest that you let every Dr. within your medical circle be informed that you are getting this treatment. I learned the hard way by not advising all of my Drs. If you are diabetic like I am, this treatment may effect your blood sugar readings, and also may effect cholesteral levels. I have decided that I will not have any more treatments. My body is tired from the side effects and I feel that another treatment is not neccessary. My Dr. refuses to give me a hysterectomy, which I feel will be my only cure. I have lived with endo since my teen years and was blessed with 2 boys. When my doctor first offer it to me I did not want to take it but then 2 months later I had the worst menstrual cycle every--it made me anemic. I was rushed to the emergency room from my job. My anemia was so severe that I could not have a subtotal hysterectomy. I felt terrible. I am on iron and this medication. Even though I have the above side effects, I am thankful that I am not bleeding like before--I could not live bleeding like that. And the iron regime I am on is making me feel somewhat normal. I have been able to start back exercising--even though my knees and leg hurt but not to the point where I can not function. The only side effects I was told about were that I might get a little emotional after about the 4th injection and that I would have some hot flashes that would go away after inj's were stopped. What I ended up with at the time was severe depression, vaginal dryness, night sweats, hot flashes, terrible mood swings. The forgetfulness, depression, insomnia, night sweats and hot flashes never went away after I quit taking the drug. I kept complaining to doctors about it, but they never bothered to test my hormone levels and told me that I was too young to have night sweats and hot flashes and as for the vaginal dryness I should just use KY! I had never had a yeast infection prior to using Lupron now I get them constantly. Finally in my late 30's after complaining to doctor after doctor about these continued symptoms, my husband and I were not able to get pregnant on our own, so we visited a reproductive endocrinologist, I told her of my on going symptoms and she tested my hormone levels right away and diagnosed me with POF(premature ovarian failure) She said the reason for the hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness, depression/mood swings all these years was because my ovaries were shutting down, that it was basically like I was going through an early menopause and this was causing my hormone levels to go crazy, at one point my hormone levels were that of an 80 year old woman. Did NOT result in a successful pregnancy. | Poisonous toxic drug Based upon my research, it KILLS men with prostate cancer at 65++ years of age. Suicidal Ideations (Mainly because of how miserable this drug has made my life). Q | I was diagnosed with Fibroids Sept 2023. It was recommended due to the larger being in my upper right quadrant. It would be beneficial to shrink the fibroids using chemical induced menopause (they make it sound so easy). Three months on they managed to spare me a large vertical incision but am left scared to death what is going on with my body. My doctor suspects TMJ (never had this before the shots). I have spent most of my time in bed. I have been to A&E with hypertensive crisis as a result was given an ecg (QT Prolongation and abnormal T and S waves). Am now waiting on a Echocardiogram and a visit to a Neurology Clinic. I sympathise with all of you who have been through the stress and upset this drug has caused. Without a doubt it is life changing for those who unfortunate enough to experience the more severe side effects. Can only plod on and try to carry on. Its been so distressing I can’t put it into words. I know for some its been a positive drug and helped in extreme debilitating circumstances. However without a doubt it should be only administered when a thorough indication of the risks are advised.
