| 3 | Shrink lrg fibroid/prep for surgery | mild hot flashes (not that often) noticed them more after my 4th shot, night sweats and weight gain. Emotions weren't too bad, what I noticed most was that I started getting a short temper, which is not like me. | My doctor recommended Lurpon in hopes that it would stop my heavy bleeding (which it did) and shrink my very larger fibroid that was crushing my right fallopian tube, my bladder and growing into the endometrial cavity and other ways. I was told I pretty much had 3 diff types of fibroid in 1 and that it was a little bigger than grapefruit size. I had 4 shots 1x month for 4 months. After reading a lot of comments on here...I thank god that I didn't have that bad of side effects (and am sorry for those that did and had to go through that crap). The side effect that I had the worst was the night sweats and now being that my last shot of Lupron was 2-18-13 I'm not having any side effects except for sometimes light night sweats and I now have an acne break out on my bottom/upper thighs. Not sure if the break out is from the Lurpon or sweat, but the sweating is from the Lupron so I guess technically it is. Anyways, as I said I did not suffer from the side effects too bad, but I don't know about recommending this medicine? I chose to trust my doctor and if it did shrink the fibroid that would make the myomectomy easier and less risk of possible hyst or loss of tube. Overall...my fibroid did NOT shrink at all, but oh well. Fortunately my doctor was able to remove fibroid and keep everything else in tact and after healing should be able to have children! | F | 26 | 4 months 1X M | 4/6/2013 | 4 | Endometriosis | Severe migraines usually associated with stress after 1st shot. Loss of period but I'm also taking pill form birth control continuously (no sugar pills). Moderate fatigue after 2nd shot. Acne on my back, chest, and arms after 5th shot. Mood swings (going from crying to absolute euphoria) after first shot. Joint pain on and off starting from the 3rd shot usually localized in knees and wrists. I have had no weight gain or loss but I am also very active (running and lifting weights everyday) and eat very healthy which is suppose to help. Before Lupron I could hardly excesise at all some days because of sever pain associated with endometriosis and when I was on my period I couldn't get out of bed most days. Now I have absolutely no pain. All my symptoms seem minuscule compared to the benifits. I upped my water intake tremendously and it has helped A LOT. I drink juice whenever I can't eat, and it ups my calorie content and helps the constipation. I would exercise, but I'm afraid to because I'm so calorie deficient right now. After my surgery to remove a ovarian tumor in October 2009 when I went to my post-op appointment is when I was told that I have Endometriosis. I started Lupron right away. The pain was instantly gone and so were my periods. Life was great! Then in September 2011 I went for my annual pap and was discussing with my new GYN that I wanted to get pregnant. I had been preiviosly married for 14 years and never once did I get pregnant. Now I know for sure that the problem was me (my ex cheated and got her pregnant). Now I'm engaged to my childhood friend who is my soulmate and now I want to have a baby with him. So after I had an ultrasound done it was confirmed that I did have another cyst and that he wanted to see how bad my endo was now.(I had pics from my previous surgery). Once my new GYN saw the pics he said he could only imagine how bad it would be since the pics were over 2 years old. Long story short I had surgery in December 2011. all went well. My Endometriosis was like a spider web covering all my reproductive organs. My doctor was sucessful in removing it. Unfortunately I lost my left tube because it is completely blocked and my uterus was attached to my abdominal wall. He detached my uterus and left it in. I am going for my final shot in this round tomorrow. this will be number 12 that I've taken since 2009.Next friday 6/29/12 I will be discussing what my next step will be to try to become pregnant. There it stays. During my cycle, those cells will menstruate, and at times, tear the lung wall and cause a hole, therefore a collapse will occur. Now, I have no cycles, and no more lung collapses. Although, it is working, the seriousness of this drug scares me. You have horrible physical and MENTAL side effecrs. It has affected my job, my relationship with my boyfriend, my family and my friends. My doctor wants me to go another year! I don't know if I can do that, not sure my body can handle. I wish there was another alternative to treating this disease.
