I myself have at this point been taking the injections for 1 mo and im already loving it. Yes, you do have some side effects mine include the mild hot flashes from time to time, night sweats but i did have a few of those previously, the mood swings wich if you start paying attention to yourself you can start controling and warning ppl before you go off and tell them hey i apologize but right now isn't a good time im going thru my mood swings lol now the diahrea is the only side effect of this i am having issues with b/c of the fact that everytime i eat anything i have to run straight to the bathroom and its basicly water! so it makes it a little hard to do your every day activities although im told it should get a little better with more injections. i am more than happy with these side ffects b/c before I had so severe pain that during my periods i would have to take a pain pill and muscle relaxer and pass out in the bed or be curled up in a ball, there was times that while working as a cook i had to hit my knees the pain was so tremendous even intercourse was painful now i am virtually pain free besides mild cramps i would suggest to anyone who had the pain i was in to try this and if you can't deal with the sideffects you can always go back to being in pain! 4	Fibroids, anemia	Fatigue	My first injection didn't work and the bleeding did not decrease substantially. But a second injection given just three weeks later with an increase in norethin acetate (5 mg.) to three times a day eventually stopped the bleeding completely. My hemoglobin increased from 5.9 to 11.1 in five weeks using Lupron with relatively no side effects. I would definitely try this as a means of eliminating heavy bleeding or treating anemia. 1	Endometriosis, Ovarian Cysts	Migraines, night sweats, joint pain, memory loss, 5-10 lb weight gain per month	I was not successful in postponing a hysterectomy with this drug. I wanted children, this was going to help me with that. I gave up and had the hysterectomy and now I will be happy adopting. My question to those out there is, it's been 4 months since I stopped therapy and I now am suffering from seven kidney stones all of a sudden. Has anyone had that problem with this drug? 5	Severe endometriosis	A bit depression, hot flushes and bone loss.	I have endometriosis for 20 years. My endometriosis was unstoppable; had 2 surgeries but they did not provide long term relief. Surgeons kept saying a have a lot of powder burn patterns which are impossible to clean up. My last surgery did not go well, and I started to have hernia kind of pain around my right groin. I know that it is by product of my 2nd surgery, and got checked for hernia but it was negative. The surgeon kept denying that it is related to the surgery. Since my 2nd surgery (for 4 years), in addition to pain due to endometriosis I have right groin pain (which is worse than endometriosis and limits my daily physical activities). Now I am scared to have another surgery and for me lupron is the best option for now. Lupron definitely reduces my pain, and prevents the disease spreading further. I have been on lupron for 17 months now and it is the longest I have been on it. I feel wondeful when I am on it: My pain is more controllable and it is great relief knowing that my endometriosis is not getting any worse than it already is. However, recently, I started to have back pain most probably due to bone loss, but I think my doctor will prescribe very low dose hormone to take while I am on lupron. I am planning to be on lupron until I get into menopause -if possible. Other option is to get my ovaries removed I guess but I don't trust surgeons any more. 4	Severe Endometriosis	Hot flashes, night sweats, irritability, insomnia, nausea, mild depression. Basically menopause.	I am 21 and was just recently diagnosed with severe endometriosis. This was my only choice, other than a complete hysterectomy, of being somewhat pain free for a little while. But the biggest reason I did the treatment was that I have a very small chance of having children, and Lupron was the only option in increasing my time to have them. There are a lot of negative comments on this website, and though I agree that this med is very hard to handle at times, I would like to say that for women like me who want to some day start a family, it is worth it. My dream is to be a stay at home mom, I want nothing more in life than to have kids! And if that means that I have to go through hot flashes and mood swings and nausea for a few months than its worth it to me. My doctor warned me before I started this that it was crappy and it wouldn't be easy. He was right, I was having 6-8 hot flashes an hour, so many night sweats I couldn't sleep, and throwing up all the time. But when I talked with him about it he put me on norethindrone(progesterone) and it worked great! It doesn't work for everyone, but it worked for me and I had absolutely no symptoms while on it. Now I am just taking womens one a day menopause formula vitamins and they are working great too. 4	Fibroids	My uterus was full of tumors and it was the size of a 4 1/2 month pregnancy. I also had excessive bleeding and my periods were from 7 to 10 days. All the other docs wanted me to have a hysterectomy and I did not want to. The choice was mine and I decided to try the shots. I had 2 shots in 3 month intervals, Oct 2008 & April 2009. I was blessed no side effects and my body went into menopause. Then in Sept 2009 my periods started back again and I started with the same issues again. Right now I am back to square one. My doc had to medically retire and my new doc wants to do surgery. NO. I am going to try to shrink them naturally with herbs. Just search and there is a lot of information out there.	I was blessed, no issues with this drug. It did what it was suppose to do but my new doc does not believe that I should try it again to shrink the fibroids. She believes that if your body is not ready for menopause this drug will not help. Also some research on my own shows that once Lupron Depot wears out of your system and everything kicks back in, that your tumors may be escalated in their growth. 4	Endometriosis	Mild headaches off and on.	I figured I would add my own experiences since everything I read is so negative. I almost didn't go on Lupron because I had read horrible reactions people were having but decided to try it anyway. I'm on my 2nd Lupron injection and have to say (other than a few mild headaches)it has been a good experience overall. I had been put on birth control for several months before this and felt horrible. I think there are some people that just can't handle the pill and I'm one of them. So after going through all of that I was worried about Lupron but I actually feel better than I have felt in a long time. I'm no longer on the pill which made a HUGE difference. I'm back to exercising and really have had no complaints about this. I won't know about how well it worked on my Endo until my treatments are over but I'm very optimistic. 5	Severe Endo	Hot Flashes, Vaginal Dryness, Weight Loss,	I have to believe that comment site such as this one are mostly populated by those who have had negative reactions to this injection. I would like to share my experience with those who feel as if they are at the end of their rope. My OBGYN - a very very well educated doctor suggested after my diagnosis with endo that I try this injection on a 3 month bases with add-back medication and a VERY high dosage of calcium from the start. He was very up front with me that there WOULD BE SIDE EFFECTS. Indeed there were side effects, hot flashes, vaginal dryness, weight loss, and a few night sweats that decreased greatly after we increased my add-back dosage. I took my second 3-month shot and was very content with the side effects. I will take a few hot flashes over the pain of a period any day of the week. I have been off of Lupron for over a year now and have just started having painful periods again, but only on my first day. My doctor and I are discussing my options at this point as Lupron is not *approved* for longer than 6 months of treatment. 2	Endometriosis	Few hot flashes, Easily irritable/extreme moodiness, forgetfulness, nausea/diarrhea, difficulty sleeping, aches/pains to joints.	After attempting to have a child after 5 years and seeing multiple gynos, I went to a new one almost 2 years ago for pelvic pain and infertility. I had a diagnostic lap with a D&C done last summer, confirming moderately severe endo. In November, I started on the Lupron to "control the pain and buy me some time to have children", so the dr. said. He also put me on Norethindrone to help control hot flashes. The first 2 months weren't the best:feeling run down, depressed, irritable, with only a few hot flashes, unable to fully enjoy the holidays. Then he put me on Prozac for difficulty sleeping and depression. For the 1st month immediately following, I was fine. Smiling, wearing colors again, socializing. Still easily fatigued, but workable. Around the End of month 5, the moodiness picked up again and has been steadily increasing (or so I'm told by my husband and boss). This is month 7of9, and am not going to go through with the last 2 shots! My coworkers have complained about this change to my boss, I can't go out and socialize, get over-stressed about the silliest things much more easily. I got night sweats and hot flashes, but those went away as soon as they came. I felt very paranoid and was very bitchy towards my boyfriend especially. I spotted a couple times, but only for a day. 1	fibroids	Extreme mental depressions, up and down emotions. Knee, lower leg and hip pain to the extremes. Headaches and general ill feeling. Nausea, vomiting, constipation and diarreah. Not daily but enough that it was uncomfortable. Weight loss, lack of appetite.	I was told that I should take this shot and it would shrink my fibroids and help in excessive bleeding and then I would be able to get robotic surgery. They said after surgery that they couldn't do the surgery with robotics, since the fibroids were too large and there was too many, originally had two, they said ended up with 8. A normal uterus weight about 90 gm, mine was 854 gm, after 3 months of Lupron. With the extreme cost of this shot, I feel it was not worth the pain, suffering and mental anguish! I could have had my hysterectomy three months earlier! And saved alot of money! The lack of bleeding was the only advantage of this shot. 1	Endometriosis and ovarian cysts	Severe hot flashes, Night sweats, dizzy spells, faintness, grogginess, insomnia, nausea, vomiting, constipation, migraines, itchy dry skin, initially a yeast infection which passed after about 3 days, vaginal dryness, dehydration, feverishness & chills, achey arms and legs, initial weight gain/bloating, irritability and crankiness, shakiness/trembling on occasion...SEVERE RASH when my skin is exposed to the sun.	My doctor convinced me to try these injections for 3 months, as an alternative to surgery. It did NOT HELP, in fact it made me feel worse. I've only had the first injection and refused to go back for the second & third doses. It's been 2 1/2 months and I am still suffering from the majority of the side effects every day. Furthermore it did NOTHING to help control my endometriosis symptoms, in fact they are much worse now. I was better off before I got the shot. I really regret letting my doctor talk me into this and wish I had just opted for another lapro or even hysterectomy. DO NOT take this medication it is awful, and not worth the expense! 1	Fibroids and endometriosis	Extremely tired all day everyday and only really able to go to work and back home, get gasoline and barely able to even grocery shop I am so tired; not able to exercise, of course; muscle fatigue; feeling I will faint several times per day; severe migraines; insomnia; not feeling present; mood swings; bleeding	I took this drug once on 2/15/10 due to my ob/gyn and her nurse strongly recommending this drug to shrink my fibroids and endometriosis prior to surgery in July, and I had doubts but I trusted them, and taking this drug was one of the greatest mistakes of my life. Now, my ob/gyn is not being honest and denying that the lupron is causing all the severe side effects that I have never experienced prior to this injection. My ob/gyn also had the nerve to tell me that my medical record shows that I received 3 lupron injections in 2006 prior to having surgery to remove fibroids only (no endometriosis at that time), and I was absolutely shocked and told her that my medical record has been falsified because I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED THIS DRUG PRIOR TO 2/15/10. Her response was shock, silence and stating she does not know what to say. I believe she is just trying to protect herself from a potential lawsuit from me. She and her nurse both adamantly told me the worst side effect would be hot flashes and the progesterone pill I would take each day would stop that, but they both lied. The worst side effects are what I previously mentioned and those symptoms have not diminished-- AT ALL. Of course, I absolutely refused to take another injection, and I ceased the progesterone pills because ironically and horribly those pills only exacerbated the symptoms I was already experiencing. 3	endometriosis & fibroids	1st-anxiety at GETTING the shot. :) soreness at injection site for a day or two. within days i felt the hormonal changes. have been extremely tired and lethargic.migraines have increased in frequency and duration.still have my cramping & sharp pain from the fibroids.bled for 17 days.on the 18th i stopped bleeding and proceeded to have a 'psychotic episode' at work-assuming this was a hormone fluctuation as i typically never get moody from hormones. massive hot flashes and night sweats, which contribute to my insomnia. have a general 'foggy' feeling. good news, my skin hasnt looked this good in years so im having the adverse acne effect. :) i've gained at least 5lbs in the last few weeks and if i bloat anymore, i will explode.	i have hopes that these side effects will diminish...the dr said he will not do a hysterectomy on my because of my age even tho i have a 16 year old and will NEVER pro-create again. birth control has never helped, and has only made me insane w/ mood swings. if i experience the same on the 2nd shot (male dr. recommended 3 shots and then surgery if it helps) im done with this. i hope to all that is holy i dont have long term side effects. 2	adenomyosis and fibroids	just very tender at injection site for several days	I took the shot on March 1. I was diagnosed with adenomyosis and fibroids. I was hoping to have tumor ablation but the only treatment for adenomyosis is to remove the uterus. I am going in for a supracervical hysterectomy in June. We can't do it any sooner since I am anemic and the fibroids are large. The lupron shot was to shut down my ovaries so that I would stop bleeding and build my blood up and hopefully shrink the fibroids. I have always had heavy periods and they have gotten worse over the last few years. On the 22 day into my cycle I started bleeding, by day 2 I was flooding every hour changing a super plus tampon and over night pad. I am on my third day and it is finally letting up some. Hopefully I will stop soon and not bleed the next two months. I need to be stronger for surgery. I know spotting was a possibility but this was awful. I started taking vitamin k and vitamin d drops. Will let you know how it progresses. It was an awful expensive mistake if it doesn't work. Thank God my insurance paid for it. Other than that I can't say that I notice any side effects. 5	Fibroids	side effects were light acne on my chest, fatigue, tender skin in genital area. lower back pain in place of menstrual cycle.	side effects were only experienced when i did not take the norethin ace 5mg daily. this is a recommended therapy that your doctor should prescribe along with lupron for fibroid treatment. lower back pain did not go away with regular use of norethin, but was resolved with extra strength tylenol. i have regular migraines, and was not out of regular frequency during lupron treatment. finished my 90-day cycle and planning ab-myo at the end of the month. this drug effects EVERYONE differently. i read the horror stories on this site before taking lupron and almost changed my mind. please do not be scared off by someone who had a bad experience. if a few months of inconvenience is worth the chance to have a better surgery and be pain free, healthy, and increase your chances at reproduction, it's a small sacrifice. discuss all of your concerns with your doctor and family to make the best decision for yourself. 1	Fibroids, before hysteroscopic myo	Abdominal swelling or bloating. Not weight gain - I am only 92 pounds! - but rather seems to be PERMANENT water retention. The bloat occurred immediately after ONE Lupron shot during the estrogen flare phase, then diminished during the brief menopausal phase, then returned suddenly five weeks after I took the shot, as my estrogen levels returned to "normal". Seven months later I fear that my pituitary gland is permanently damaged. I am seeing an endocrinologist who is mystified by such localized bloat. My lower abdomen has an uncomfortable swelling about the size of a baseball and this has led to depression, anxiety, and high blood pressure. Also insomnia and kidney stones which I attribute to the calcium I took while on Lupron. This nightmare was totally unnecessary and I was the picture of health and fitness before I took this shot. If anyone has seen their abdominal bloating eventually subside, PLEASE PLEASE email me here and tell me how long it took and what, if a	DO NOT TRY THIS DRUG EVEN ONCE !!!!! YOU WILL NEVER FORGIVE YOURSELF. It is NOT a cure for fibroids or endo. If your doctor suggests this drug, run like hell and find a better doctor!!! 3	Fibroids, heavy bleeding, anemia	Extremely emotional, lots of crying, mood swings, hot flashes, weight gain, cravings for sweets, 2 weeks of heavy anxiety, irritability, daily mild to moderate depression, confusion, have become very forgetful, haven't lost my job yet but every day seems to be a struggle.	I'm also taking uña de gato and guanabana leaves teas from Peru to shrink the fibroids. I experienced an abnormal period on Jan 11th. I lost 1/2 of my blood in 2 days which was caused by the fibroid(s) I didn't know I had. I have at least 2 submucosal fibroids: the largest one is 6.5cm long in the front of the uterus and the second one is 3cm big on the back of the uterus. There are other smaller fibroids in the uterus but not significant in size at the moment. My doctor believes that the 3cm fibroid is the one that caused the unstoppable bleeding which made me anemic. In two days of heavy bleeding Jan 11th-12th, my hemoglobin count dropped to 6.4 and I received 2 points of blood transfussion to bring it up to 8. I also had surgery on Jan 13th to remove the blood clots which were preventing the uterus from shrinking. After that surgery, I was given shots of methyrgene/pills to shrink my uterus prior to the 11.25mg 3 month supply lupron depot shot. One month since Jan 11th, my hemoglobin reading has gone up to 12.2 which categorizes me non-anemic. I have an ultrasound visit at the end of March to determine if all fibroids are less than 3cm to do the next internal surgery to remove them. Otherwise, open surgery will be required. 5	migraines/2cifhystterectomywillhelp	hot flashes, hot flashes and night sweats during sleep, one period and 14 days of spotting with first injection, irritabilaty- no pain at all	I have had cyclic migraines for over 15 years - after visiting a very renowned headache clinic, top notch nuerologist, pain management dr's etc.. no one would listen to me. I knew my periods where the source of my migraines and have been asking for a hysterectomy for years. The dr's. would just blow me off citing "there is not enough evidenc to prove that a hysterectomy will cure your migranes. After being chronically anemic for years, my hemotalogist and ob cunsulted and FINALLY my ob decided to put me on Lupron. He indicated that if the Lupron worked and eliminated the migraines, he would then preform a hysterctomy. After my first shot, I had a period a bled for approx two additional weeks. It wasn't until I had my second shot that I've had substantial success. For the first time in years I did not have to visit the er to get a shot af narcotics for out of control migraines! They have greatly reduced to just a few, very low on the pain scale and the fact that I have a sinus infection makes me wonder if that may be the culprit. BONUS: I have lost over fifteen pounds without trying or changing a thing and the weight is still coming off - I know each body reacts differently, but for someone who has suffered almost half her life with debilitating migraines-I think it is an answer to a prayer, L.B. 3	Anemia due to long term bleeding	Night sweats, mood swings, loss of sex drive, hot flashes	I am now 21 years old, when I was 17 I had been telling my OB GYN that I could not stop bleeding and he kept telling me it was normal considering my recent change in birth control. I woke up one morning and my left arm was numb so I called the doctor. After seeing him I had to go to the hospital for further testing..turns out I had a blood clot and an aneurysm so I had to be medflew to a bigger hospital for emergency surgeries. After surgery I found out that I was suffering from anemia. A specialist OB came in and told my parents that they had to stop my menstrual bleeding and that these injections were my only option. I felt horrible not only were the surgeries bad enough but then I had these side effects on top of being in ICU for weeks. That wasn't even the begginning. I ended up taking these for almost a year and about 5 months after I finished I noticed I have vaginal dryness and no desire to have intercourse. I called the doctor and asked the nurse she just acted like I was dumb and said yeah that's a side effect and you'll just have to go buy some lubricant. I mean I am young and I should not be having to worry about this. After reading this post I actually feel like I'm not alone. Its just so frustrating and I'm so moody. 2	Endometriosis	Muscle & joint weakness & pain, night sweats with insomnia, decreased libido, extreme fatigue, sadness.	First few months were ok, but then my body aged over night. I have 2 moths to go to complete a 6 month treatment & am considering not finishing it. I have stage 3 endometriosis which was diagnosed after 2 years of infertility treatments, including 2 failed IVF cycles. The side effects I have experienced from this drug are constant vs the temporary pain of the endo around my period times. I would rather suffer that pain than deal with these side effects any longer. 4	Endometriosis	This time around just pain so far and bloating.... all the endo symptoms arte back. This is my 6th shot the first 5 were 3.25 this one was 7.5mg. #4 and 5 did not do anything at all.. They tell you the first shot everything will get worse well this first shot of 7.5 is def making things worse. My doctor said just three of these then laproscopy. I just wanna get to that i can feel a mass that has gotten bigger esp lately and over the past couple of years and now the pain is more spread out. 3	endometriosis	Hot Flashes, joint pain, memory, concentration, moodiness, dry skin, acne, nausea, weight gain, tiredness.	The first injection I had the surge in emotions and hot flashes. I did not have any pain until I was late getting my injection (the third one) and I had heavy bleeding and horrible cramping. Prior to trying the shot I tried birth control and alternative treatment dong quai. I used Estroven to try to help it helped a little during my treatment the hot flashes were not as bad and frequent. I did not use the add back therapy because of epilepsy and the meds I was taking for treatment. I would not recommend this treatment unless absolutely necessary and a last resort. My sex drive was gone and vaginal dryness was the worse. Trying so many products to treat the side effects was rather expensive. I had my last injection a few days ago. I am just glad to be finish last injection early this month and I will not be doing a second round. The hot flashes has been worse like I am sweating bullets. The side effects had a horrible effect on my relationship and my health. I dont want to go through menopause again! At times it also felt like I was still having PMS it probably was the moodiness. I am looking forward to my system going back to that of a 32 year old woman. I just hope they find another way to treat endometriosis. There needs to be more information and treatment available for endometriosis for the sake of all women that have severe endometriosis and pain. 4	Endometriosis	Hot Flashes, FORGETFULNESS	I was terrified to take Lupron after reading this website. For the first two weeks after my first shot I kept waiting for the bottom to fall out. Luckily, my symptoms have been minimal. I have an occassional hot flash which only lasts a couple of minutes. The biggest think is memory loss. It's a small price to pay to be free of the pain of endometriosis. I had CHRONIC pelvic pain. It hurt to stand, sit, etc. I'm going in for the second shot tomorrow. 1	endo and in a lot of pain	hot flashes, hair loss, acne, water retention, weight gain,lower part of abdominal swelled up, depressed, angry, forgetfull,	Ok, so in 1999 I was diagnosed with Endo. Up until then, I though I just had really bad periods. I had 2 laporascopy surgery, and with each surgery the endo was worse everytime, and now I have a lot of scar tissue and the endo is back. the pain never went away and it's so bad to the point where I cry. So, my doctor told me that if I wanna get rid of the pain is to take out my uterus and my left ovary, but that is not an option, we want more kids. Then she decided to put me on the lupron depot shot, every 3 months for 9 months. She told me about some of the side effects, (some), but said they would go away. So, first 3 months, it wasnt as bad, except for the hot flashes and the night sweats which they never went away. The good part was, no period and the pain is gone. Well, my last shot was in March 2009 and ended in June 2009 and as of right now, still no period. The worse part is that all the side effects are back, some are really bad and they are not going away. I started to loose my hair,not able to loose any weight and my belly swelled up (looks like I am pregnant), joint pain, very angry, very depressed, i cry a lot, night sweats, hot flashes, forgetfull sometimes. On top of that, i get so angry, to the point where I cannot control myself and i start crying. I havent had a period in more than a year now, and hope to get it soon and have more kids. I've only been on the medication for two months (I'm doing the monthly shot for the first three months, and then the three-month short on the fourth month). I'm taking the add-back therapy, plus using Dr. Edward Bach's "Beech" for the mood swings/irritability. The hot flashes are fun sometimes but have decreased since the temperature dropped (I live in the desert). All in all, not as bad as I feared it would be. 2	Multiple Fibroids,anemia	Muscle aches, joint pain, weakness, some confusion, horrible yeast infections with strong chemical smelling discharge. Had yeast infection of the breast for the first time with same strong odor. Hot flashes, sweating. Brittle hair. Headaches from the first two injections then they went away. Almost lost my job. FYI: http://www.chemocare.com/bio/lupron_depot.asp	I never had a problem with body odor. I had to continually get prescriptions of Diflucan to treat the yeast infections. I found out that the muscle aches and joint pain caused by Lupron is because some medications cause inflammation. Taking anti-inflammatory medicines helps some. I was tired of taking so many medicines, so I went natural. Lemon water with Cayenne pepper. I drank three or more bottles of that every day for about a month and the severe muscle aches and joint pain left. I would just pour it into a water bottle and drink it throughout the day. For some the cayenne pepper might increase your hot flashes, but drinking extra regular water will help. Cayenne pepper is an anti-inflammatory. I don't know if that will flush out the medicine, I doubt it but I know I got relief from pain and stiffness without the other drugs like ibprofen and tylenol types that can also slightly reduce the affects of the Lupron. Either way it helped reduce the side affects and my iron levels increased from the lupron because I didn't have a period at all. That was great! Worst part, I almost lost my job because I was so sick. I was harassed until I told them I was on a chemo drug. Then they backed off after I provided documentation from my doctor. I hated that because it is a personal situation. Lupron is a Chemo therapy drug. Which is ok, except my doctor played down the whole treatment thing. 1	preperation for myomectomy	Severe hot flashes, night sweats. Severe moods. Inability to function rationally. Severe weight gain. Pretty much became a "crazy person"	I was advised to take this medication in preperation for a myomectomy to remove multiple fibroids that ranged from 11cm to about 2cm. The surgeon wanted it to reduce the amount of bleeding during the surgery. I was skeptical about this medication in advance, but chose to trust my surgeon. I have to say, this has been the worst I have ever felt. My injection of 11.25mg Leuprolide in February has cost me a career, my sanity, my figure, and I have yet to determine if I'll ever feel good again. I wanted the myomectomy in hopes to finally have a child at 36 years of age and I still haven't resumed my menses and out of 3 different physicians, none can tell me when I will. Just that I should in 6-9 more months! I have read from a few others on this site that "don't pay attention to these warnings, I took it and it is fine", which worries me. No one should take this medication. The few that MAY not have had the severe reactions that the MAJORITY of us have had, should consider themselves extremely lucky. This medication has cost me a very profitable career in medicine. I know this for a fact because I am still living in this hell. If you are being told by your doctor that you NEED this, definately talk to at LEAST 2 other physicians before having this injected into your system. I am 36 and the doctors that I have went to trying to get relief from my symptoms are unable to do anything but inform me that "I will just have to live with it". I have also had memory loss and irritableness which I didn't connect to the med until reading this site and learning it could be a side effect. I just thought I was aging quickly. LOL!	I have had endometriosis since before my first period at 11. I have had so much pain with my periods (bed ridden for 3 days), prior to my periods and with ovulating. At the time there was nothing to help. Years later tried Depo Lupron and have now been on it for probably 15+ years. With depo lupron I was finally pain free and it has been amazing for me. Tried to go off of it 1X and the cramps came back unbearably so I am on it again. Note: I have been taking it continuously for 15+ years. I have had a bone density test 1X and it was fine. My memory has been bad and getting worse for about 10 years but never connected it but my family has a history of poor memory too! 4	Endometriosis	Same as I have read from many other posts: hot flashes, trouble sleeping, "all over" joint and bone pain/sensitivity, headaches, moodiness, WEIGHT GAIN, yeast infections, nausea, chronic fatigue, loss of concentration and memory and a bruise-like feeling at injection area. Sexual side effects were either complete lack of sex drive OR complete addiction to sex which will vary several times throughout a 24 hr period.	First diagnosed with Endometriosis at age17 from a Laparoscopy (also revealed ovarian cyst). Put on non-cycling birth control pills at first to suppress the growth of the Endometriosis, but my body DID NOT respond well to thinking it was pregnant. Put on Depo-Provera, still miserable and had frequent E.R. visits for vomiting/constipation/pain. Then I was put on my first 6 month round of Depo-Lupron. Doctor DID inform me of all side effects and their severity. Injection site felt like a bruise for 2-3 days. Months 1-3 were miserable and almost unbearable. When I say miserable I mean I was not able to work or even leave my home hardly ever. I never used to get headaches (I have a caffeine free diet as caffeine exacerbates the Endometriosis), but had some of the worst headaches in my life. Sleep was virtually impossible, for me or my fiancé. Nausea was caused by hot flash severity. But I fought through and months 4-6 were almost pain free. Went back to non-cycling birth control for a second trial. Again, body was sick and useless while thinking it was pregnant. After 6 months had second Laparoscopy which wasn't even close to being as successful as the first was. Given Percocet as pain killer (very strong narcotic). Put on 2nd, 6 month round of Depo-Lupron, again was hard months 1-3 with relief months 4-6. Progesterone prescription helped a lot with the moodiness and hot flashes this time. First of all I went on a 6 month treatment of Lupron Depot to shrink the fibroids. I am in month 5 and had a follow up done early to check the status. They have remained stable and there is no shrinkage. I have almost lost my job because of the horrible side affects. The only thing I love is not having a period every month. I am disappointed that my doctor did not tell me the truth about all the side effects, because I did ask. What I also was not told was that Lupron Depot is a chemotherapy drug. Even that bit of knowledge would have given me an idea of what might to expect. I did my research first but didn't find that. When I called back to ask the nurse about the side affects, she said that most people don't have them and of course you were going to find all the negative information on the internet. Well, I see why people would post the negative. Not many physicians are owning up to the horrible side effects. I agree going thru this temporary to fix the overall problem. But it looks like in my case it hasn't helped. 2	Uteran Fibroids	Peiords ceased, mild hot flashes, occasional night sweats, moderate fatigue, moderate joint pain, mild restlessness, mild insomnia, mild depression.	My gynocologist prescribed Lupron Depot injections to try to shrink fibroids that were found during a regular exam. The dosage prescribed was 6 monthly 3.75mg injections. I will be receiving the 6th injection in September 2009. A hysterectomy will be scheduled for early November 2009. Unfortunately, the injections did not shrink the fibroids as much as we had hoped (from 20 cm to 16 cm in 4 months). I was expecting the worst in terms of side-effects. 2	Breast cancer/to stop periods	I can put up with the night sweats and hot flashes, uncomfortable as they are. What I can not tolerate is the lack of motivation or apathy I am suffering from because of this drug. I didn't believe it at first. I thought it was just me, and I gave it six weeks while I investigated every other possibility. But it is true. The mood swings don't even bother me as much as this; this apathy or lack of motivation is a disaster and I could be out of a job. I can't do meaningful work, I eat chocolate because I am too lazy to cook, I drink wine instead of coffee because I don't have to prepare it. I am calling my doctor on Monday and telling him that I will not be taking a third shot. Unfortunately, I still have three weeks of the second shot "left". I hope to God I will return to my normal self.	My dose is 7.5 mgs once per month. The main reason for taking it is to stop my periods because I want that separately from the breast cancer. However, after I got dx'd and had surgery for early stage breast cancer I was not allowed to go on the pill or use anything w/female hormones. Hence, the Lupron. It did work. Period is GONE. 1	Fibroids	This should be called the shot from "HELL"! I was a perfectly happy, bubbly person. I would brighten a room when I walked in. I have severe, extreme hot flashes that are uncontrollable. I am suffering from depression. I cry every day as if I am attending a funeral. I have only had two injections due to a hysterectomy that I had to have. I would never recommend this shot to anyone. It has changed my personality because I suffer from the side effects very bad. I am now applying estrogen patches to level the side-effects out. The hot flashes are every hour instead of every 15min. The last shot was Jan 3rd 2009 and I have still have not had a cycle. The second shot made a very depressed to the point of suicide thoughts. I have never been a depressed person my doctor put me on lexapro for that and that has helped. I have gained 20 pounds since I started the shot and I workout six times a week ugh! I have had night sweats everyday. I am going in tomorrow to see if the tumors have shrunk. I have also had some facial hair growing around my lip GROSS... Had cysts all my adult life. Last year found out also have endo. had surgery 9/08 removed cysts on right and left ovary, untwisted right ovary and removed endo. 1 mth later back in hosp had surg again, found another cyst on right ovary and ovary twisted back up. dr removed right ovary and tube. wanted me on lupron - i was too afraid after reading about it. continued having abdom paid 6 mths so started monthly lupron in Apr 09 -get my 4th shot in 1 wk. 1st shot: injection site (butt/they call it the hip) hurt badly for 2 days, had headache and felt ill. (that went away after 2 days) breast grew atleat 1 cup size for 2 weeks (yeah!) then shrank then next 2 weeks to a small B when I was a Large B. (that sucked) I also started the night sweats and hot flashes. like once a day/night. 2nd shot: same 2 days of illness and pain at shot. breasts never grew back. now have severe night sweats all night long and severe hotflashes all day long, sometimes loose concentration or get forgetfull but now I feel my pain is subsiding and It might be worth the side effects if I can just figure out how to handle the hotflashes. 3rd shot: same 2 day issues. night sweats, hotflashes, low sex drive, now i have very low right and LEFT side pain--something in the urinary tract but doesnt feel like infection. no burning..just internal pain lowever than ovaries...the abdomin pain is gone but the lower pain is now worse..that combined	F	39	3 months		6/21/2009

1	Endometriosis	Meridian, MS I am a 32y/o black female. I had a hystorectomy in Jan 2009 because of bad cramps during my cycle. My doctor told me this was what I needed to do in order to get rid of the pain. He left my ovaries because of my age. During the surgery he saw no signs of endometriosis. After my recovery period (3 months) Every month around the time my cycle should have been coming on, I would begin having cramps as if I was having a period. Then I noticed blood in my stool. I thought maybe it was some after affects of the surgery. I told my doctor about my pains and blood. He prescribed Darvocet for the pain. And began trying to evaluate the problem. I've had 3 colonoscopies, CT scan with rectal contrast, regular CT scans and the only thing that was found was a knot underneath where my uterus would be near my colon (segmond area. Purpose was to see how I would handle a hysterectomy. Completely lost the pain within the first month and side effects were almost non exsistent by the third shot. Gained 15 pounds in 3 months but doc says if you gain on the shot, it's a good indication you will continue to gain with menopause. 10 wks after last injection, I still have no period but my breasts hurt and the pain is back full force. I was given the shot as a 'diagnostic tool,' instead of a laparoscopy. BIG MISTAKE. NEVER USE THIS DRUG FOR DIAGNOSIS-ONLY A LAP CAN DIAGNOS ENDO. I took ONE shot of Lupron Depot at the end of January of this year (2009). I took only one, because although I was scheduled for a second shot three months from the first, I absolutely refused to take it again. My side effects were EXTREME during the first three months, and have begun to subside, slowly. I still experience the night sweats (these are not just 'night' sweats btw...these are 'at-any-time' sweats), hot flashes (I initially clocked them at approx. every 40 min., now it is every couple hours), headaches, memory function, and breast pain. I still have not had my period since the shot, and it is now the middle of June (2009). That is the only thing that I am grateful for, since the majority of the pain comes and goes with my periods. However, the pain I experience which is not cyclical was not helped at all by this drug. It has actually gotten worse. I am again being given the option to take this drug after surgery in a couple weeks. I am again refusing. Avoid this drug as much as possible...the company that makes it pumps A LOT of money into marketing ("feel good" websites, blogs such as this one with many 'positive' experiences, paying doctors/hospitals to use the drug, etc.). 4	Stage 3/4 Endometriosis	Hot flashes/night sweats, headaches, all of which have gotten better the longer I've been on it. Annoying weight gain. Pain is better, though not gone completely.	I feel I have reacted very well to this medicine. I had laparoscopic surgery in Dec '08 for my endo. Started monthly 3.75mg Lupron injections in Feb '09. I only have one shot left! Only had spotting in months 1 and 2, now no bleeding at all. :) The one thing I hate is the weight gain - 15 lbs! I'm really hoping that goes away after I am done with the treatment. 5	Large fibroids, anemia, heavy bleed	Hot flashes, low energy	This drug has given me back my life! For the past 3 years I was bleeding almost everyday. Extrememly heavy periods, couldn't leave the house. I had two blood transfusions - my hemo was down to 4. I am on my 9th monthly shot without add back therapy. It took the first 4 shots to really make a difference. The hot flashes (I call them power surges) are much less annoying than they were in the beginning. My last ultrasound showed a 40% shrinkage in fibroids and uterus. I was afraid to take this drug but so far I am happy with the results. 4	Prostate Cancer	It's been 6 weeks since I was injected with 22.5 mg Lupron to reduce the size of my prostate. My prostate needs to become smaller so that I can have seed implants. So far I have not had any adverse effects. Insomnia was a problem I had prior to the Lupron so I can't attribute the drug to that problem. Wheter the drug is working or not will be determined in about 7 weeks when the volume check will be done.	Nothing more to say except, I was expecting all the side effects, but after 5 weeks, can't say that I have experienced any.I will continue to keep my fingers crossed. One other thing. 1	prostate cancer 13.7 PSA gleason 7	I refused surgery, I won't have chemo. At the time May 2, 2009 I thought brachytherapy was my only option. Then I found proton therapy. I had 2 weeks of tests done. ...>MRI Pelvis w/wo contrast NM Body scan-whole body ...>NM inflammatory prostascint test ...>Prostascint scan ...>CT ABD pelvis scan with contrast ...>will get a transrectal ultrasound in 2 weeks The cancer has not spread outside the prostate. While in testing, away from home, the radiology oncologist recommended LuPron Depot 22mg. Not aware of the side effects I consented. After returning home I have found this was one of the worst mistakes I have ever made. This drug has so many side effects, major side effects not just the head aches and weight gain. Then after doing some major research I found a drug that would help considerably if I had "NOT" taken the Lupron. Now it is to late for the alternative, "Low dose Naltrexone", I am in search of another method over radiation	Lupron is a pharmaceutical get rich drug. 3	Endometreosis	Two hot flashes so far, mood swings this is the only one that is really getting to my husband and kids, night sweats this is still real bad, lack of sex drive, but others times seems like i can't get enough, joint aches, and last but not least and the worst so far is the insomnia, oh this has been horrible.	I have been on this shot for three months now and am two weeks away from my next shot, It as not been that bad. I have lost weight, and the size of my stomache has gone done, it looks like I had a lot of swelling in my upper abdominal region. 4	post endometriosis surgery	hot flashes, night sweats, forgetfulness, no sex drive	I had tennis ball sized endometriomas removed from each ovary. Lupron was give to me post-operatively to help prevent endometriomas from returning. Side effects are not so bad..I have hot flashes about every 15-30 minutes but I stay hydrated and keep 2 fans on my desk at work. That seems to help some. Gained 15 pounds -- NO ADDITIONAL CALORIE CONSUMPTION, and am on a very restricted diet & exercise program to lose BIG HUGE SPARE TIRE around mid section that did NOT Exist prior to lupron. 2	Large Pendunculated Fibriod	Hot flashes, sweating, waking at night due to night sweats.	The first Gyn I saw prescribed a lupron shot to shrink my fibroid and although I made my wishes clear and thought she was going to attempt a myomectomy, I found out after receiving the shot that her plan was to do a hysterectomy. I went for a second and third opinion, eventually finding a specialist that concluded (by ultra sound) that my fibriod was pendunculated and could be removed without a hysterectomoy. He ordered a follow-up MRI and referred me to a surgeon specializing in laparoscopic gyn surgery. This surgeon successfully removed my fibroid (10X12 cm) laparoscopicly (a myomectomy, not a hysterectomy) when other GYNs were telling me to expect a laparotomy. My surgeon would not have prescribed Lupron had I seen him first. In fact, he told me that Lupron does not typically shrink this type of fibriod and although he used to prescribe it, he no longer does. 2	endo/ 7 ovarian cysts on rt ovary	Lupron immediately stopped the bleeding and cramps. The onset of unbelievable hot flashes and night sweats began. They were so bad that I would drip from head to toe and felt like I would pass out if I moved. Sometimes I would have to hold my breath because the heat fully surrounded me. Even the air I breathed in was hot. Headaches felt like my brain swelling larger than my skull. I fell three times after I started the shot. I have danced tap, ballet, and jazz for 18 years and never fallen before. My teeth are weak and ache. My bones feel like they are going to split and even my shoe size changed. My breasts would swell so large that it would hurt to lie on my stomach. My skin broke out with rashes and my eyelids and feet peeled in layers. I became more aggressive and my memory is horrible. I forget activities that I have done for an hour or more. They are completely gone from my memory. I am hoping all of this becomes better with time. I did the shot for five months. 3	Prostate Cancer	Many side effects, mostly manageable but some of them serious.	Urology Dr gave me a 4 month shot prior to seed implants to get me prepared. PSA 6.5 and Gleason 7 lymph biopsy shows no spread. He said I would be on it for 2 years. Side effects started right away and just continued to get worse. It got so bad my family Dr. put me off work because I could not sleep whatever I took and my mental state was so bad. Oncology Dr. said he was not giving me any more Lupron. 4	endo	the first month I was a little irritable and I had some hot flashes and some night sweats. After the first month, I was fine.	I did 1 shot a month for 6 months. I've been off the shot for 3 months and still have not had a period. I'm hoping it cleared up the endo, but now I'm having bladder cramps. I'm told I probably have intersticial cystitis. 5	Endometriosis	I have experienced hot flashes and that is pretty much it.	I have been taking the Lupron shot for the last 4 years. I havent had any significant or noticeable problems that I would relate to the shot. I have stage 4 endometriosis and the pain I felt prior to the Lupron shot was 20 on scale of 1-10. I wanted to die then deal with the pain. Since being on the Lurpon shot, my pain has not gone away completely but it is definitely down to a 1-2 on most days. I get the monthly injection which doesnt hurt at all. I rarely have hot flashes or night sweats. Im also on Celexa for depression which helps out. 2	endo	No menopause like symptoms, still having pain.	I got my first lupron injection in December. I stopped having a period. I have had no side effects whatsoever of menopause, but still pain from the endo. Then 2 weeks ago I started having sharp shooting pain plus heavy lower back pain. I felt lumps on my left side where my ovary is. I went to my MD today and he felt them and was very suprised. he stated I have 3, about the size of an unshelled peanut. He injected them with cortisone and lidocaine through my skin (OUCH!) He then had me get a blood draw for my estrogen level. He was concerned because I have had NO side effects from the Lupron. He said that I should be having menopause like symptoms. We will see what happens....he said he will probably have to remove them if they do not go away. 4	Endometriosis	More emotional than usual. Mild hot flashes.	The worst of it was the second week after the first shot. After that, the side effects are minimal. I was scared to take it after reading other comments, but my doctor convinced me to give it a try. He prescribed Prempro to use along with the Lupron. It counteracts the side effects without interferring with what the drug is trying to do. Besides, I would take the worst of the side effects if I ended up with a healthy baby in the end. 4	severe endometriosis	dull abdominal cramping, breast tenderness, acne really bad	I had to have a partial hystorectomy. My right ovary and tube were left behind. My body was still producing estrogen so I had to go on the shots. My endometriosis was so bad that it was mimicing stage 4 ovarian and uterin cancer. My uterous had attached itself to the underlining of my stomach and back side of my abdominal wall and I was bleeding internally from lesions left and growing from the endometriosis. After surgery I noticed the pain was still severe, but after the first shot I noticed it to not be so bad. I've had only one shot and I appreciate the relief. 4	endo came back	nausea, headaches (very minor) cold, joint soreness, sometimes dizzy, most going away.	Had complete Hysto, due to severe endo 26 years ago and it keeps coming back. I'm also on aygestin (to aid with hot flashes mood swings). This has helped Tremendously !!!!!! I was having so many hot flashes, now, none. Some joint pain, but I keep active and that seems to help me. Much better than before I began treatment. I was scared to try this, but I'm very happy I did.
