I was hospitalized with bp in the 200's and this medicine works like a charm for me. I took 5 different meds a day and no good results. With procardia one pill a day does the trick. | F | 21 | 2 months 90 | 3/8/2017 | 4 | bp | dizziness at first but a great pill to lower extreme bp. as high as 210/110 before started taking it. time release is great but have to be careful in the moring getting up from bed. energy level increased and enjoyed physical activity more. would recommend this for anyone with very high BP. no side effects other than dizziness in the morning. take it with lasix. | F | 53 | 4 years | 7/28/2006 | 4 | high blood pressure | Insomnia & fatigue | F | 75 | 3 months 60 mg | 5/21/2016 | 4 | Hypertension | While taking Procardia I have experienced dizziness, heavy feeling in my chest, shooting pains in my heart, heart fluttering and anxiety. I have had these experiences with all 3 doses have been on. | It has helped greatly with my hypertension. I wish it would work without the scary side effects. | F | 31 | 2 months 30, 60, 90 | 3/8/2017 | 4 | premature labor, highbloodpressure | dizzy, sleepy, tierd, slow feeling | it stopped me from going into labor four years ago, and then my family doctor put me on 60mlg. for bloodpressure, and sometimes it doesnt work real well, but usually helps keep it in controll, along with a mild blood pressure pill i split into on those times. | F | 43 | 5 years | 9/6/2004 | 3 | Raynaud's | Extreme dizziness and exhaustion | It worked great for my Raynaud's. I never imagined something could work so well. BUT, since I have normal blood pressure, it lowered it way too low. I was exhausted during the whole time I took it and got dizzy even turning my head. I decided not to take it the next winter since the exhaustion never got better. | F | 30 | 5 months | 12/15/2007 | 3 | 30mg | muscles aches, headache, rapid heart beat, swelling in legs and feet | F | 55 | 3 years | 9/8/2009 | 3 | high blood pressure | Only worked in conjunction with Labetalol | F | 39 | 2.5 months | 6/1/2008 | 3 | High blood pressure | Acid stomach; fatigue; constipation | I started taking Procardia XL after my cesarean. I had pregnancy-induced hypertension and my BP remained high after birth. It seems to do pretty well at 30 MG to keep my BP at borderline. I believe if I lost weight, my BP would be at normal with the help of Procardia XL. I had a burning in my stomach starting the day I started taking this, so I have had to take a variety of acid reducers including Nexium, Prevacid, Prilosec, and Zantac. I have to take Procardia XL at night because it does make me tired. I have also had to take stool softeners with it as it seems to cause a bit of constipation. There are warnings on the insert about narrowing of the GI tract, so I don't know if its more than constipation. | F | 35 | 2 years 30 MG 1X day | 10/24/2011 | 3 | High blood pressure | Swollen ankles, depression, anxiety, anger problems, acid reflux and dizziness | When I first started taking this I had no problems. 3 years ago after I had my second child that's when I started having more problems. Days that I don't take the medication I have no problems. | F | 31 | 5 years 90 mg | 2/4/2016 | 3 | Postpartum preeclampsia | This drug did a great job bringing my blood pressures down to good levels after preeclampsia. I went into the ER with 200/90 and after management in the hospital was discharged with 140s/90-80s. I am now 5 weeks out and get 110/60-70s consistently. I’ve coincidentally been diagnosed with postpartum panic disorder, but after reading other reviews of this drug I am now very curious if my VERY intense anxiety and occasional panic attacks are not postpartum at all but rather a side effect... | F | 29 | 6 weeks 30 | 11/16/2019 | 3 | Postpartum Blood pressure | I had dull headaches, warm, tingling feeling in my hands and feet. Chest tightness and heaviness. Tiredness, weakness and legs/ calves feeling tight. | F | 35 | 2 months 30 mg | 12/13/2018 | 3 | Postpartum Hypertension | Intense anxiety and panic attacks, chest tightness/heaviness/reflux, palpitations, nervousness, chest congestion, low energy and shortness of breath some days. Also had nausea, lack of appetite, and vomiting the first couple of days. | Did a decent job managing BP but had a lot of side effects | F | 32 | 6 weeks 60 MG | 3/21/2019 | 3 | Postpartum preeclampsia | Fluttering heart, extreme dizziness, fatigue, eye floaters, stabbing pain in head, stabbing sensation in chest | Works to control BP but might go too low. | F | 31 | 45 days 30 mg | 8/16/2019 | 3 | Raynaud’s disease | Anxiety . Tiredness. Short tempered. Irritated. Slight appetite decrease. Shortness of breath . | F | 40 | 3 days 30 MG | 3/12/2020 |
PROCARDIA XL (NIFEDIPINE): Nifedipine is used alone or in combination with other drugs to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. This medication is also used for certain types of chest pain (angina). It may help increase your ability to exercise and decrease the frequency of chest pain attacks. It should not be used to treat chest pain when it occurs. Use other medications (e.g., sublingual nitroglycerin) to relieve attacks of chest pain as directed by your doctor. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for more details. This medication is known as a calcium channel blocker. It works by relaxing and widening blood vessels so blood can flow more easily.
