| 2 | Uti, unknown illnesses | Have uti and other possible illness. Walk-in clinic prescribed cipro because it's very strong. 1st dose, 30 minutes after, felt like crawling out of my skin and body. Very shaky and restlessness. Urges to kick and twitch. (I do have Tourettes) makes my tics worse. I only took 2 but I'm afraid it's too late, I'm stopping it. I've had other uti medications and never had any issues before. It may have helped to limit or prevent long-term damage due to this drug. As soon as I felt severe hip pain I discontinued Cipro (after 3 - 500mg doses). It has been almost a week since I have been off this drug and I still don't know how long these effects will last. It sounds like, if you experience muscle pain, that is it important to "listen to your pain" rest the affected area and minimize use, to prevent further and possible long-term damage. I am also taking sea salt (1/4tsp) and water daily, getting plenty of rest, eating some dairy (yogurt) and praying that the side effects eventually go away. I found a very serious research about Cipro side effects on www.fluoroquinolones.org also I spoke to some friends that are doctors (some of them investigated on medical magazines and reviewed the latest papers related with Cipro Side effects) and believe me, your symptoms are most likely due to your side effects. Post-treatment antibiotic-related colitis. | After my second dose of Cipro, the nausea, loose bowels/diarrhea, and cramping hit me. The doctor couldn't give much advice except that the symptoms are normal and to continue the course of treatment if I wanted to get rid of the infection. I continued to have these symptoms throughout the course of treatment. Two days after taking the last dose, the symptoms came back in full force in the form of antibiotic-related colitis and as a result, I was down for three days with cramping, etc. All in all Cipro cured the infection, but now, over 1 1/2 months later, I'm still having occasional bouts of colitis and as a result having to treat the symptoms of this as well.
