I have never been awake this long in my life. That..and the severe anxiety,nerve,bone,and joint pain and shortness of breath is torture. The many other side effects i can handle..these for me are by far the worst😔I was wondering if anyone could please tell me what to expect in the months after lupron? I havent been able to find anyones experiences each month after treatment.. My oncologist said I had a lump on my prostate, negative biopsy 12 mo prior. Biopsy showed some Gleason 9 samples, serious cancer. Tests showed that the cancer had not spread. Lupron and 45 radiation treatments recommended. Lupron once every 6 months. 1st shot few side effects until the 5th mo when I had many hot flashes. Lupron did reduce my PSA to zero after 1st shot and still zero after 2nd shot. Testosterone at 17. So lupron doing what it is supposed to do. After the second shot several other side effects began with testicle pain being the worst, a dull ache, and wishing for an orchiectomy. Pain mostly gone after about 3 weeks. With the 2nd shot the Dr prescribed clonidine for hot flashes, which also has a side effect of testicle pain not mentioned by dr. Stopped taking clonidine after 3 days. Lupron also made me feel like I was 80 with joint aches and pain, but I was also doing some manual labor that may have caused some of the aches and pain. I do a 16 mile bike ride once a week, most weeks depending on the weather. I also have chills usually before a hot flash and some swelling of the ankles. No sexual desire anymore, but that was gone due to other medication before lupron. I was told to take 1000 units of calcium with 400 units of vitamin D to counter bone loss. I asked the nurse from my medical insurance company about hair loss as a side effect and she said it was not. I have finished the Lupron 3 months ago and have never felt worse in my life. I am in so much pain and discomfort that my only relief is when I fall asleep for a few hours but wake up with palpitations and severe excruciating dryness. My Dr.'s office downplays the side effects and pain caused by the Lupron, saying it should be out of my system by now but I feel it is not. Please, If you have any regard for your health and well being, don't try lupron. It is devastating in the severe health problems that it causes. Currently I can only work sporadically due to my condition, yet any money I make goes straight to other doctors who are trying to correct what the Lupron has caused. I do not have good days and It is a struggle to face every morning. Please consider your choice, because, the risks certainly outweigh the benefits! If you are a somewhat healthy individual, this drug could change that. I wish I had run out of the dr's office when they walked in with that huge,double barrel syringe!
