| 4 | Fibroids and heavy bleeding | Hip pain, mood swings, hot flashes | Lupron gave me back the ability to carry a child. I had over 20 fibroids of varying sizes. After a couple of VERY painful months, I miscarried prior to starting lupron. Now, after being treated with the injections, I am in the 2nd trimester with none of the pain or complications I experienced previously. This was not an evil drug for me. Though the side effects were very trying at the time, it has been well worth it to see a 7cm fibroid shrink to an undetectable size! Everyone is different. I was given my one and only lupron shot in October 08 and to return in 3 months for follow up...have not returned yet. Since then, I have been having severe hot flashes, nausea, headaches, which are more than usual....BUT NO BLEEDING/PERIOD. Yes, it has helped with my period, but definitely has affected my day to day with other symptoms. Lupron not so bad for me, cause I am use to managing symptoms...but I do feel "sick" than normal. | I would highly recommend everyone to read other ratings about Lupron...cause I really made a decision based on my excessive bleeding at the time. Put it like this, if you have never had a hot flash...be prepared, once on Lupron. (She was cocaine exposed in-utero, which we believe is the primary cause of the precocious puberty.) Her dosage has increased 3 times over the 2 years. Her developing breasts disappeared, her extreme mood swings are dramatically reduced, PMS symptoms gone, migraines gone, she's gained 5 inches in height, and her bone age is now nearly her real age (not 50% older). LUPRON (LEUPROLIDE ACETATE): Leuprolide is used to stop early puberty (precocious puberty) in children. It helps to delay sexual development (such as growth of the breasts/testicles) and the start of menstrual periods. It also helps slow down early bone growth to increase the likelihood of reaching normal adult height. Leuprolide works by decreasing the amount of sex hormones that a child's body makes (estrogen in girls, testosterone in boys).
