| 5 | Epilepsy | None known. | I have been taking sodium valporate for over thirty years and have not had any significant side effects. While taking the medication I completed two undergraduate degrees and one graduate degree from a top 10 university. I have my CPA and work for a Fortune 500 software company developing accounting software. This is the first drug that controls my moods without inducing mania (antidepressants do that to me) and it has no effect on my sex drive nor has it caused me to gain weight (everytime I take antidepressants I encounter rapid weight gain and sexual side effects). Acetyl l-carnitin could be found in red meat and dairy. Your body can produce a very small amount of L-Carnitine on a daily basis. But since I'm vegetarian and have been taking depakote for years, guess what? I've been suffering from anxiety disorder and depression for years and was treatmnet resistant. Since I started taking acetyl l-carnitin, my mood has significantly improved and anxiety disappeared. I did research it says people who take anti seasure drugs should take high doses of acetyl l-carnitine. But my quality of life is so much better with this medication and its the only medication I take, so maybe that's why it works better on me than most people here.
