5  Colonoscopy I was slightly off balance physically for about an hour afterwards, but I had been told to expect this. I was a little sleepy for the rest of the day. This medicine is primarily used to reduce anxiety during medical procedures or before surgery. It can also cause amnesia, but that is not the primary use. It didn't induce unnatural compliance or anything like that for me, and I actually remember a portion of the colonoscopy, just not all of it. The whole thing was not traumatic and I feel pretty strongly that this is due at least in part to the Versed. I know it's possible for people to have paradoxical reactions to medications, where they get the opposite of the expected effect, but this is rare. I wish people would stop trying to scare others away from truly helpful medicines. F 55 0 days

5  MRI Extremely claustrophobic and can't do an open MRI due to heart monitor implant, so I had to do the MRI that looks like a doughnut hole opening where it looks like being in a tunnel. Was given Versed IV to calm me. It worked. I was awake (conscious sedation) and the 35 minute MRI felt like 10 minutes. Nurse was there beside me whole time monitoring heart and blood pressure levels. No side effects. Was sleepy at home for a couple of hours as they said I would be. I'd never have made it thru without the Versed. F 63 0 days

5  chronic migraine treatment slight lack of coordination for 30 minutes, slightly sedated for several hours The medicine snips 10 minutes out of your memory. It is as if the scene changes in a millisecond without you even closing your eyes. A very unusual effect! A few times it didn't work. But, it has worked every time that fentanyl was added.  5  Colonoscopy Mild light headed for a couple of hours. No others symptoms noted. Given versed and fentanyl for colonoscopy. Pain control was acceptable and no recognition of procedure. I have had this combination many times with not adverse effects. Also, working in Oral Surgery, I have seen this used many times wtihout any adverse effects for the patients. M 62 1 days

5  Tendon surgery I have had versed for surgery about 12 times over a number of years. Mostly I just feel happy right before I conk out. No ill effects except that I often have insomnia after surgery. It's probably a combination of all the drugs and not Versed in particular. F 54 1 times

5  Prior to MANY surgical procedures I have NEVER had side effects with Versed and I've had MANY surgical procedures. The side effects that I've read seem unreal to me. Would recommend it to anyone having a procedure done. It really calms you down. F 46

5  Colonoscopy No side effects - worked perfectly. Took before colonoscopy along with propofol. I nicely drifted off in the exam room and awoke 20 minutes later. No side effects, just sleepy the rest of the day. This was my 7th time having Versed and I now request it when I know I'm having any type of procedure. F 31

5  eye surgeries I was given Versed before each of two eye surgeries - three weeks apart. I received an oral dose. The most negative thing I can say about this medication is that it had a bitter taste. The drug started taking effect after about 15 minutes. I was generally aware of when they took me into the first procedure room, but after that I have no recollection although I am told that I followed doctor's instructions very well during that time. They didn't want me asleep, just very relaxed. The effect starting wearing off within an hour, and I was out of the facility and on my way home within 90 minutes. As directed, I did lay down for a nap as soon as I got home and I slept soundly for about three hours. (the first time, I only had time for about a 60 minute nap because I was going out to a show that night.) My response to this medication was so positive that would like to have my dentist and oral surgeon use it for their procedures. 😉 No negative side effects, tolerated it well. F 50 2 times

5  Two Root Canals IV sedation I had Versed combined with Propofol & Fentanyl for a 1-2 hour root canal procedure. My teeth don't get numb, so I had no other choice but to be put under. I was given the IV, was out in less than a minute, and woke up feeling like only a few minutes had gone by. I remember none of the procedure, felt no pain, and had no memory loss outside of the procedure. I didn't wake up at all during it. I was groggy for 1-2 days, and threw up once about 10 minutes after waking up. I'm very sensitive to nausea and grogginess though, so it probably was worse for me than others. In general, I thought this combination was great for the procedure and had no surprising side effects. If not for this, I'd have to have root canals and feel everything. Don't forget that most people who have no side effects don't report things online. Don't be scared if you're getting this drug. It's very common and the vast majority of people do not have any side effects at all! F 35

5  EGD A bit loopy. Very tired. Slept for about 4 hours after I came home. Don't remember conversations with the doctor or my husband. Still a bit tired and I'm sure I will sleep well tonight. I was given Versed with Fentanyl for and EGD. I remember talking to the nurses and the doctor before the procedure and then starting to feel a bit loopy. Almost like a dizzy feeling but weird. Then the next thing I remember is being in the wheelchair and getting in the car. F 37 1 days

5  Colonoscopy I was groggy until the next day, but I'm not sure that it was from the Versed. I was given the Versed with Fentanyl, and this is the first time I've had Fentanyl. The combination was wonderful because I felt nothing at all, and I only remember a little, which is just what I wanted. F 59

5  Dental surgery (wisdom teeth) No unwanted or unwelcome effects. My experience was pleasant and precisely what I'd been led to expect. Oral triazolam gave very mild sedation and was followed by midazolam (versed) 40 mins later. Within seconds of insertion of the IV, i lost normal consciousness. Subjectively, it was like falling out into a relaxed sleep. Within hours my mind was clear and at ease. I am feeling great today, only 16 hours post-op. Clearly an excellent drug when used appropriately. M 49 1 days

5  Athrocentesis of TMJ Lingering drowsiness and some mild and harmless heart palpitations persisted 6 hours after IV Versed. No hallucinations or horror as others mentioned. Worked fine for me, I was nervous due to reviews but no major issues. In definitely in a fog now 6-7 hrs post op but it's nothing horrible at all. Initial dose just made me sleepy and sort of relaxed.. No worries on this drug! M 33 1 days
