I'm a computer programmer by trade and this stuff made me so stupid I was unable to work. That was on top of the skin-crawling anxiety coupled with a drugged out zombie feeling. No appetite, very strange taste in mouth. Emotional numbness, kissing and hugging my kids didn't give the usual warm fuzziness, it was like kissing a wall. That night had weird intrusive thoughts while trying to sleep, words "die, die" going through my head. Fell asleep only to wake up after a couple of hours, wide awake and jittery. Took second days dose and within half an hour had extreme anxiety and panic attacks, intursive thoughts about knives, confusion, blurred vision that lasted about 6 hours. I was actually scared of myself, that night only a few hours sleep again, woke up, tossed the pills and will never take another mind altering drug again. I'd rather smoke than loose my mind, think I'll try the nicotine patch. I felt like I was going to pass out and sweat was dripping off of my neck. This happened twice in two days. I get a boost of energy but at the same time a sense of calm. I do not recommend drinking coffee while taking this however. Caffeine seems to bring on anxiety symptoms. I tried Prozac several years ago and it made me so sick I had to stop. Started with 37.5 mg, then after a year, changed Dr's, and was put on 75mg....I was kind of in between, I felt like I should have 150mg, or go back to the 37.5, so the doc put me on 150mg and I took that for about 10 months. I loved the anti~anxiety it supplied, and I took ambien to sleep, for I have bad insomnia. After a while I started feeling very sluggish, no energy and unable to reach orgasm, and attended weight watchers for 12 weeks, and only lost 11 pounds. I researched effexor and was aware of the nasty withdrawal effects, but also that it caused weight gain. So, I changed Docs again. She recommended wellbutrin sr, and slowly weening off the effexor. As soon as I dropped from 150 to 75 of effexor, I felt terrible....BRAIN ZAPS...shakey feeling inside, but I adjusted quickly.
